i would get your car out there b4 starting a conversation that might end up in conflickt. i would feel more at ease if my car was down at the gearbox speacialist getting done and then try and get the machanic to pay for it, rather saying something now while your car is sitting there with no gearbox.. just a thought.,

by rights, there shoul;d be 3 things defectable on your car for a copper to give you a major. however they can give you a major for less things it just a matter of weather he ticketed the rwc box on your fine or not..

then you dont need a rwc!!! just fix your tyre with the same brand/profile ect and bring it down to the cop station ask for constable wanker, show him you fixed it and away you go..

its unroadworthy if a cop wants it to be.. some might of let you off with a minor, so all you would of had to do is change what ever was wrong and show the copper personally at the station or in your case major defect which means, your whole car has to be roadworthy, not only things you got defected for.. you get good cops and you get the wankers..

for all the many times i have lost mine, i have NEVER handed my licence in, i paid for it there for i keep it.. for a pissy one month suspension, just keep ur licence card, but if its a 12month thing like most of us lol, then a updated photo, will be nessasary, and also depending expirary on the card itself.. as for vic roads, i dont think there is enough room on this page and enough swear words i can say about them and also how organised they are.. i am currently serving 10month suspension for something i did in '05, cbf getting started cause im feeling rather relaxed tonight..
