  1. A friend's R31 has been diagnosed by the local Nissan dealer as having a dead ECU. The Australian company that made them went broke years ago, and Nissan can only suggest buying a second hand one from a wreckers to replace it. The last time this happened to the car there was a place in Beresford Ave Bankstown that sold reconditioned ones on an exchange basis, but we're not sure if they are still operating. Do any of you guys know where we could source one from? Reconditioned would be good, before we go looking through wrecking yards, because if we get one from a wreck it may have it's own problems. We're in Sydney, but even if we can get one from interstate, that would be fine. It's pretty urgently required, as the car is the only method of transport available to get him to and from work. Cheers, Matt
  2. Hey all, first time poster, long time lurker! If this is in the wrong section I do apologise. A family friend of ours has an R31 Skyline, and today on the way to work it started feeling like it was losing power, even as she was driving. It made it to work, but was idling rough, and the revs were all over the place. This afternoon when she went to leave work the car started normally, and then died, and wouldn't restart. The two mechanics here couldn't find anything wrong, other than a leaking fuel line, near the pump, which was replaced immediately, but that obviously didn't fix the problem. It's turning over, and gets close to starting, but just won't fire. They've poured Aerostart down it's throat and that got it running for a little while, while they held the trottle down and it seemed like it would be ok, but as they let the revs die down and walked away, the car stalled. She's understandably not too enthusiastic about driving it home alone tonight, and the mechanics here don't know much about engines with electronic management systems. (They're old-school diesel mechanics) Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? Or what they can try to get it running tonight, to take it to a mechanic tomorrow? Cheers, Matt
