Hypergear Turbochargers and High flow Services Development thread

Recommended Posts

Yeah that's not a bad idea, but removing the charcoal cannister and placing it there looks more tidy as well as defective lol.

On a side note, my dodgy install new studs and torque down the head band-aid solution worked.

Was at Wakefield all day today pumping 1.5 bar through the motor and no signs of pressure building up in the cooling system.. yay for 19 year old head gasket and motor haha

sprayed more things black lol....

I might delete the charcoal canister and move the catch can there.. too much shit going across the engine bay at the moment :(

lol with a fuel pressure gauge and external gate on show you're fooling no-one about it being 'stock, officer' :P

good result on the no-head-off head stud job then, might have to look at that further myself.

Hey guys, I'm still tossing up between turbos for my build.

To be honest I just want the most responsive and snappy 300rwkw on E85 for the street.

I found a build thread where someone had made some very nice results on the highflow 21U turbo used on a R34.

There are a few options for me but I'm unsure.

SS1PU (I had one of these in my R33 for a few years and loved it, Stao has altered the build of these over the years and they seem to have gotten even better)

R34 Highflow (currently have the turbo so it would be cheap and easy to sort, but I'm unsure if it's going to be nice and responsive)

R33 Highflow (more responsive than the R34 highflow and I'm not sure where this sits between a SS1PU and the SS2 in terms of response and feel for street)

SS2 (stao said this is strong and powerful delivery)

I've looked at a fair few dyno sheets but still can't wrap my head around it all, can anyone lend some input

The SS2 should easily get 300 on e85, like very easily. I'm running 260kW on 18psi very safe tune. It has a bit of lag, but not much, full boost is about 3500 and it just picks up crazy ! I've heard the SS1 is a more responsive version, but makes less power. 300 would be pushing it with the stock turbos, but that's just my opinion.

Pretty much everything I listed there will net 300rwkw on E85, but which is going to be the most snappy and responsive.

Stao mentioned that the R33 turbo on a R34 would want to ping.

not on E85, I've found it just loses power rather than knock like 98RON, it might knock but not audible like 98RON (from my self tuning experience)

Interested to hear the answers to this.

Stay told me the same thing but I'm keen for ultimate response on the r34.

Someone on here got close to 300rwkw on an r34 with the 21u highflow, e85 and blitz return flow.

I'm wondering whether the e85 combats the pinging stao mentioned.

I don't want Lag so very keen to try and make the 21u work on the r34.

About to get some ID1000 to allow running of e85

I knew someone who made 310kw on 19-20 psi on e85 with the u21 highflow.. tbh it didn't feel very quick but the dyno sheet it had a very v8 looking power curve made full boost at like 3700 or something.. blitz front mount, xspurt 1000cc, pfc and hks exshaust

engineering a new ss2 at moment. should easily take over 300rwkws on pump. will up result shortly. ss1pu makes similar power then 21u but makes alot more torque. there is also a new turbine wheel on thd ss1pu this year, should up hp by 15kws with no lose in response.
