Solid Shifter Install Issue

Hey guys, I have a nismo solid shifter and the other day I tried installing it in my r33 gtst, it went on ok but when I went to put the circlip back in it was a bit tighter than the stock shifter.

Once it was in I could only shift between 3rd and 4th, when I tried to select any of the gears it would force the circlip out.

Has anyone had any similar issues?

I'm tempted to pull the bottom cup out and machining half a mm off it.
