Gday all,

ill be moving to Vic at the end of the year and have near on just completed my drift/hill climb/ motorkhana 32.

Whats the go to for these type of events, and whats the usual requirements for competing. All im looking for is track time and having fun, not door to door type stuff.

With the drifting it seems like a CAMS approved half cage is required (Vicdrift), couldnt really find any other info or organisations that run drift events.

Any info would be great, remembering my car is a non registered track car.

Cheers

Drifting: VicDrift is the place the go

Hillclimbs: You have a lot of options in Victoria for hillclimbs. My personal favourite is Rob Roy, which has a 'Come and Try Day' on October 5th where entry is only $25! There is also the Victorian Hillclimb Championship, which travel to most of the hill climb tracks around the state for all their rounds.

Motorkhana: Victorian Motorkhana Championship offers all the information you will need for the motorkhana tracks and events. Pakenham and Werribee are my favourites, lots of fun to slide around in there. Rob Roy will host motorkhana day's sometimes as well (but you may need to be a member of MGCC or one of the historic car clubs to get involved in that - usually it's rainy and very muddy meaning lots of fun!)

I haven't done drifting, so can't speak for it. But for hillclimbs and motorkhanas, you don't need much to participate, generally just the CAMS L2S license, a fire extinguisher, seatbelt and helmet is all that's needed. The websites above and the event regulations will tell you what is needed.

If you want more information or anything, feel free to send me a message. I used to race a fair few of them, but got into the officiating side of things more, so have plenty of experience with them :)

and this guy is the right one to answer this stuff atm..

that said if your doing hill climb and motorkana, think of doing some grip days as well.
Vic has a heap of track days that a bunch of members attend.

Thanks very much guys, i have saved those links.

Vicdrift is the place to go for drifting if anyone else is reading, they do require a CAMS half cage minimum though which will be great for the other events i intend to do.

No doubt ill get into some grip days too, but i would like to have some decent brakes first (have z32 brakes, the good ones!). Although im used to having to stop 2 tonne (HSV), stopping 1 tonne will be quite different!

Cheers, looking forward to having my car finished and getting out there and enjoying it.

Hey mate, this may seem a question with a very obvious answer, so pardon my ignorance :ermm:

BUT, for the come and try day I'm assuming any vehicle would be acceptable? Assuming it has the obligatory fire extinguisher?
