Dealing With Spammers

There seems to be a lot of spam on the forums these days - it would be nice if members could assist. How about an extra post reporting feature, that disables the account and hides all the posts of the spammer? It could be automatically triggered when say 20 members report the post, or maybe when the sum of the post counts of all the reporters reaches 20000. (So post count is used as a reliability indicator).

Or, maybe hide any posted URLs for users under 50 posts, so there no incentive.

Hi mate, actually the mods/admins have such a magic button....just hit "report" and someone should action it pretty quickly.

Yeah i've done that a few times - but i didnt know if it was useful or just irritating form the Admins...

haha I call it helpful....not sure if everyone else agrees I don't monitor all day and night so a specific message about a post helps

This might be useful. A bit like how you can't put Email Addresses in messages on Ebay.

I've been pretty active in reporting spam aswell but yeah there seems to be Heaps of it lately.

Pretty frustrating for all concerned I'm guessing.

Yeah its gotten beyond a joke. I've just subscribed the site to a secondary cloud-based anti-spam mob. Fingers crossed.
