GT-R Magazine...

has been in town covering the GT-R Scene in Sydney as well as WTAC.

After considering several Importers to interview and take pictures, JLM at Rydalmere was selected to host the 'inquisition' to-day.

CEO Todd O'Donnell agreed with the Editor, Shinichi Yamazaki that a group of owners be interviewed about...

* their cars

* the cars' performance

* modifications

* how the owners came to buy GT-Rs

* what network exists on how the right GT-R can be sourced

* what type of activities exist for owners to run their GT-Rs at their optimum

* who runs these activities

...and finally, pictures to be taken of owners and their cars.

14 cars and their owners will be featured in GT-R Magazine next year! Yay!

Interviews and pics have just finished as I write this. Two DR30s were also sourced including Liz' whose car was also happy-snapped by the Editor himself - most impressed was he!

Yes Mark, all who attended to-day will too :)

I stated in my interview that I wouldn't have the cars I do now except for two criteria...

1) Skylines Aust from a friend and network perspective and...

2) A good importer who can check the history of the car, physically look at it (if poss), and then bid (if at auction) a fraction beyond a 'round figure' (according to value).

The two guys on either side of me in the pic, own a R34 GT-R V-Spec II and V-Spec II Nur respectively which were sourced from private sellers, before they could go to auction.

I wonder what they said in their interviews!

Thanks Liz.

Kamazaki-san asked me Club Qs like...

* How long has SAU been in operation for?

* When did you join?

* What role did you play in the club?

* How many Execs are there if you and Liz are no longer Execs?

* What do the Execs do?

* What does the Skylines Aust club do for the Members?

* How many Members are there?

* How many nationally?

Now I'm thinking that we as a Club should liaise with Kamazaki-san since he's an Editor.

He was delirious with joy that such a powerful Club could be operating outside of Japan.

He said he was interested in a few things we'd done this year - although I forgot to tell him about Tech Arvos.

Ans so, he's interested - genuinely interested in an email detailing events we've held.

Todd's wife Yumiko should have an email address - if it isn't in the magazine cover already.

There he is here...

^^ You'll notice Takahiro Masuda's name listed there in the index too.

And the autograph that Liz, spruce moose and yours truly obtained...

Perhaps we should start a movement to have a quota in English sent through to Australia now that Bob has prompted me? Thoughts?

Well Richard and Bob, we've got more of a following here, with cars to prove it, than in Malaysia I dare say! :whistling:

Thanks Richard on behalf of Liz and myself (and any others who gave our Club the thumbs up).

Absolutely Brett; although Andy Middlehurst of St Helens Nissan knew he was onto a good thing by making the ones below official in the UK!

Here's one on show to-day.

And the BNR32 across the road was another of the 14.

Don't the magnesium 7Kg wheels make you drool? VS-II Nur sourced by Todd at JLM from a private owner in Japan - basically brand new with Nissan plastic sheeting over this 'n that.

Not one fingernail scratch under the door handle.

...am being coached by Masuda-san as to where I should look - and get that damn cap off!

I simply obey.

There was a great bunch of Members and Import Customers yes with pristine cars, waiting to be interviewed - and pics taken.

Shame they couldn't stay for next weekend's Texi! That would be a good article about the club.

Lol > I had a great deal of trouble explaining through two interpreters in Yumiko and Edifier what a Texi was!!! Liz was laughing!!!

I was gesticulating about how cars (GT-Rs) had to go through cones in a form of time trial.

(And I didn't have the heart to mention that MX-5s have punched above their weight - ROFL)

If Eric, a liaison is established because of to-day, I can't see why all states should collectively negotiate a quota of GT-R Magazines in English come to our shores. Thoughts? Anyway that's now an Exec agenda item - maybe at the General Meeting perhaps?

hehe... Raj. I just happened to have a (SAU) 'Club hat' on to-day.

Last month's issue was #118.
At $38.12 a pop in Japanese (through Kinokuniya Bookshop), it makes for an expensive collection!

These do come out quarterly don't they?

Thanks for the day and the shoot need to go to Todd, Adam and the rest of the guys at JLM for organising the shoot with GTR magazine through their contacts in japan. GTR magazine often showcase these shoots in their magazine of a particular workshop and a sample of customer cars, sometimes along with owner profiles of those who frequent that particular workshop. These workshops are normally in japan, as confirmed by Yamazaki san this is the first time GTR magazine have shot in Australia so it's quite an honour for JLM to have their workshop featured and for us to have our cars featured in the next issue of the magazine.

I believe GTR magazine is released every 2 months.
