Lighting/dimmer On Nav/tv Screen?

Hi All

Thought I would see if anyone knows how the lighting-dimmer circuit works on the Navigation/TV screen?

What I'm trying to do is stop the dimming of the Nav screen when the lights are turned on. I'm finding that at night or low light, the screen is too dark to see much through my reversing camera, where'as if I turn the lights off, I can see what is on the screen much better. So I thought I would disable the dimmer circuit for the screen.

My reversing camera is brand new and is working fine, so there is no problem with that.

I know that the screen dimmer circuit and the rest of the stereo/nav controls are separate when it comes to the lighting/dimmer.

I have a 2005 M35 Series 2 Stagea wagon.

I know what wires controls the lighting for the rest of the stereo and Nav control panel, but I'm not sure how the screen dimming is controlled.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Regards

on my R34 it was controlled off the DVD player.. ie there is no headlight signal that goes to the nav screen itself, it goes to whatever is controlling the nav screen. Not sure if stageas are same or different entertainment pack.

It could be the same wire that provides 12V for the backlit buttons in the centre console. In which case, you won't get any backlights if you cut the wire.
