Hi guys,

A few months ago I was involved in a crash, my GTR Black Edition was written off due to a moron running a red light. Quite a bit of damage and airbags everywhere.

Kept it under wraps during the insurance process plus I was a bit angry.

I've finally sorted it all out with insurance and am now looking for a replacement vehicle.

This is a big inconvenience, but hey, series 7 updates anyone?

Cheers.

Yikes.

Thankfully you're ok!

Thankfully there was insurance!

Now thats out of the way; that sucks! Can understand you being angry about it.

Yep that's the main thing. Walked out with minor bruises.

Get this, the other driver:

Unlicensed (his L's had been cancelled).

No insurance.

Driving like an idiot running red lights.

The only legit thing he had was that the car was actually registered at the time (his mum's car).

Yeah that would make me angry. Really angry! So your insurance covered and will sue him I assume?

The bloke that almost killed me on my bike was unlicensed, unregistered and uninsured.

Cops didn't charge him for driving unlicensed because they couldn't confirm he had received the letter stating it.

Yep insurance are going after him.

It'll teach him a life lesson I reckon.

Damnnn. Can't imagine being hit on a bike! Does make you angry doesn't it. Society these days.

A complete and utter lack of self responsibility.

Yeah was hit at about 60km/h I think.

There was some debate for a while as to repair vs write off. High salvage value= write off. Thankfully.

Last thing you want is a near new car that's been repaired after a heavy impact.

best thing about a good insurance policy, they pay you, they take care of the rest.
it blows me away that people even drive at all without insurance. why would you ever want to handle the aftermath either being at fault or not.

i wouldnt put $50 of fuel in my car before paying for insurance.

ah well people are dickheads. luckely it wasnt worse, noones hurt, you get a shiney new car :)

Thats a fair sideways shunt , were you pushed into on coming traffic

not a very nice feeling at all .

Basically, I had a green arrow and was turning right, hence he hit me more towards the rear of the car.

There was no oncoming traffic at the time (was about 7pm in a suburban street), but I did end up on the wrong side of the road facing the other direction (180 degree turn).

In terms of insurance, as others have said, I can't believe people drive around without it. As the car is less than 2 years old, there is a new for new policy in place. I'm not sure how that works, but I imagine he'll have to pay off close to 200k.

    • Maybe I used the wrong sandwich plate as well. Used one piece instead of two piece.
    • Y'know what, after reading a topic on a 360kw build using a nistune (who ended up going LINK), im now considering a LINK over a nistune. The engine protection alone would probably be worth it. And id like to learn to tune so would be nice to have that safe guard. Which means i probably wont need a boost controller then, or the R35 MAF.  Becoming a bit of a blog now but oh wells. As mentioned previously, the goal is around 300kw, for a daily driver. Will be looking at fitting a highflow turbo or similar (something that doesnt require downpipes, manifolds etc to be changed out) when the current stock gives out or the money for it is there.
    • Thanks guys. Are you meant to tighten the converter bolts through the starter motor hole? Think my plate between gearbox and engine is one piece. Im heading up there tomorrow.
    • Picked my tailshaft up yesterday arv!! Test fit it and because they've gone to a ford centre bearing and CV I had to modify the mounting bracket a little bit. 5mm of each side and she went up into position and fits well. It has a 1350 uni and flange on the gearbox end so it should be plenty strong!  Got stuck in this morning and started on the wiring mess. Cut out all the wires not required that go to the body connector and cut the engine harness out. Need to go through and work out which ones I need to keep and rewire into the new ecu. Should save a small amount of weight as well. I'd love to get in and rip the dash and everything out to completely remove wiring but cbf.  Next up was the power harness for alternator, starter etc. It has a few connectors from factory that run out of it. Cut it all apart and removed what was no longer required and put some new corro and taped it all back up and bolted it all back into place.  After that I worked out where I can mount the new flex sensor. Found a couple of factory bolt holes and drilled a new hole on the bracket to suit. Need to go get a few fittings and adapters tomorrow so I can keep going.
