Introduction + Few Issues.

Hi all, name's Darcy.

Recently swapped my beautiful e46 BMW coupe for a 97' RS-four V Dayz edition stagea and im loving it. Car is in good nick overall with the awesome leather interior and all the "V" options.

Car is fairly stock except for the following mods that were done prior to my ownership:

a dirty big pod filter

Turbosmart boost tee set to 10psi

rear muffler delete with straight through.

I have fixed up the bodywork a bit so far and bought a nice set of Rays/Nismo LMGT-2 wheels for it that suit nicely and are period correct.

The few issues im having and would like some advice on include:

-difficulty starting cold, i have to give it throttle (was told it could be temp compensation and could be fixed with a tune?)

- car is auto and stalls if i hit boost at low speeds then slow suddenly (actually revs drop harshly coming off boost at all revs, just stalls at low revs/speeds. again, could be a tune issue? running rich? would also explain my next issue)

- Car seems overly heavy on fuel (ie 200km to half a tank of 95)

any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Darcy

Nice RS

If its a stock car it can't be tuned (except to set timing)

Cold Starting may be sensor.

There are two temp sensors on the water inlet - the one with a single wire is for the temp gauge. The one with two wires is for the ecu and you should be able to buy a replacement from a good auto electrician

There could be many causes for your running problems. Its worth taking the coils off and giving them a good clean (look for burn marks where they might be shorting) get a set of plugs BCPR6ES and gap them to 0.8mm

Typical fuel consumption around town could be 12 - 15L/100km depending on how heavy your foot is..
