  1. Hi all, I am in need of a tailshaft, complete, hopefully with notch free uni's, to suit the R33 GTS, turbo with an auto box. Anywhere in Oz and don't mind paying good money for one if found. Cheers from Johnny B. (02)43322981)
  2. hi Mark, apologies for not replying sooner, BP Ultimate for many reasons, most outlined in progressive posts. Just a note though, I filled the old banger, the shopping car, a Nissan Skyline 90 model (RB30 efi) one day at a local Shell Optimax outlet and nearly destroyed the engine, would not pull uphill, pinged, ran on and other rubbish. I challenged the output servo and would have taken the issue to the limit but for the lack of time and resource! Mixed fuels are the order of the day unless you connect with a servo of high integrity. Hope we can all find one in our local area wherever that may be,,,, All others in my area seem to be on the level but, unless we all have the knowledge and resources to keep these guys honest, who knows what goes into the tank!!!!???: Cheers to all from JB.
  3. Hey Predator, there are a surprising number of my generation behind the wheel(s) of Skylines, WRX's and other similar machines. Most of the guys I know had quick (for the era) Xy's, Toranas etc and were driving the relatively unrestricted roads, doing stuff that would either coffinise you or have you away for life nowadays! Not that I condone that sort of activity around town, just too many targets now. The mate from whom i bought the GTS-T imported it, he is 50 years and my junoir by two! Only reason he parted with it was to teach his kids to drive in something a little more sedate. When the kids are off their P's he will be straight back in to a Skyline...Cheers and beers from an old timer JB
  4. Hi Mark, first let me sympathise with the Perth guys, no 98 octane there??? Risky running much less without attention to timing,,,, particularly with the original chipset. My conclusions, simply BP's ultimate is the better suited to the Skyline I drive and seems not to vary between fills, harder to get though and often I am stuck with Optimax which seems not to be as quality consistant. BP's Ultimate also yeilded better economy. Cheers from JB.
  5. Thanks Dynamix for following this thread! I have driven a few Skylines and have the same model as you, without the front skirt and elevated spoiler but with a bypass valve, 3" Trust exh with custom dump pipe (critical) K&N cotton filters and a couple of other little tricks and this baby rocks! Even though it is a 4 speed auto the changes are so precise that little is lost (and my wife drives it too!) 68000k's and in beautiful condition it drives like a new car. This one is actually quicker than two of the 5 speed manuals I have driven, guess it comes down to original build and treatment recieved during the life of the car. Sadly I am parting with this one as it cannot be used as a shopping car (lack of respect form other drivers, especially in car parks) and only sees the light of day very occasionally. Cheers from JB
  6. Would like some geniune data/input here! Has anyone done dyno testing of developed power v fuel types, eg. Shell optimax v BP ultimate for say an R33 ST-T running a factory computer, slightly upped boost , performance exhaust, in a youngish (60,000ks) engine which has been fed clean synthetic oil/ filter every 8000ks or so? On the road I have drawn my own conclusions but would like to hear comment on this important issue. Cheers from JB.
  7. Having had the opportunity to test drive the General's new Monaro offerings, both the GTO and the quieter versions, as well as having owned some worked Commodores and other performance vehicles I quietly ponder the value that imported Skylines offer. Without going into detail suffice to say that during recent driving of the 5.7 litre beasts Iwas looking forward to hopping back into the seat of my R33, just simply, in my opinion, a better car to drive in all respects. For around $20,000 for a good example of this great car it has to be the best value motoring around. I am not interested in track performance and would not be tempted to put mine into a circuit situation, I have however put this R33GTS-T through its paces on the tar in an out of the way environment so I have some knowledge of the capabilities of the car. I just commend this series of R32>R34 Skylines to anyone who understands good motoring! Cheers from JB.
  8. Just a quick comment from an experienced (but new to this site) user, this is a very professional site with great access to all areas. I commend those who are responsible for the design and upkeep! Cheers , johnny B. :headspin:
  9. Can help you there as I already have two views of the car which I photographed at the Mingara Skyline show and shine. Suggest you come back to me on this, drop into my office and I will upload these for you for nothing (or maybe a six pack! Johnny B (Clique Photography 0408792981)
  10. Sadly parting with my lovley Skyline, R33 Series 1, 4 sp auto. 3" Trust exhaust with hi flow cat, hand built dump pipe, all new belts inc. timing belt, new brakes, new Yokohamas, new sound system, 11 months rego, immobiliser and at 68000ks must be one of the youngest in Australia. Vehicle is in superb condition and has been fanatically maintained by both the previous Australian owner who is a good friend and myself. Charcoal in colour and with a great set of aftermarket wheels this car is both visually pleasing and magic to drive, $22,000,ONO. NSW Central Coast. John, 43322981 0408792981  PS Just saw one of this model advertised with 58000k's on the clock, very rare, so maybe there are a couple out there as good as this! Makes the price for mine a little more negotiable. JB
