  1. Cheers for the info guys. I don't carry the WA chip your referring to so that's fine. There are a few pros and cons in both states so I'm taking the good with the bad. My car has a car alarm and gps tracker and insured through just car with an agreed value so if someone takes it then so be it. It's shit that there are people here that want to steal peoples pride and joy however it's like that anywhere you go. As far as the club thing goes I am still apart of an R34 gtr club and the people there were great. Most are in the SAU community which was why i asked the question about a similar group in Vic.
  2. Hey guys, I've recently moved across to Melbourne from Perth and I was wondering if there is a R34 GTR club in Melbourne on facebook or on here that I could contact other members on. I've noticed quite a few more imports over this way and I've also been made aware of how strict this place is so I've got a few questions to ask if anyone has the time to help out. I know Racepace is meant to be one of the best skyline specialists for mods / repairs ect unless there's someone better out there that I am not aware of.... Also I've noticed car theft is HUGE here so aside from a car alarm, does anyone else have a GPS tracker in their cars? Any info would be great! Cheers all, Ben
  3. Hey guys Have just had a gps tracking device fitter to my R34 gtr vspec and my car won't start. The car is cranking but wont roll over. We have had a couple of quick cylinder fires but its stopped almost straight away. We believe the factory imobilizer is preventing the car from firing properly but are still fault finding. Has anyone heard of or had similar issues ??
  4. awesome, thank you for that. I'll look him up once im in that position. Safe to assume there is quite allot of options in terms of mods and gains for a good price considering how old the cars are
  5. Hey guys, Has anyone had work done to their R34 gtrs in perth that can recommend a good place for parts and tuning? The east coast seems to have allot of places to go to but ive not heard of any places over in the west. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers all.
  6. Not sure what most peoples budgets are but even the 09 gtr is still going for high 90's where as the R34gtr is around the mid 40's depending on specs. I have seen some r34s around the 70's which someone covered before as being a joke. Mods dont add resale value like extensions on a house so why people insist on trying to add 20-30K to the price tag is beyond me but hey if they can find someone to buy it for that price then power to them. It would appear that if you want a r34 then the best bet is to import one. Ill try and test drive a 35 first but I cant afford $100,000 plus for the new and improved version. I really like the feedback on this topic as I was curious as to how people view both the 34 and the new gtr.
  7. Cheers for the input guys. So safe to say that any spec will need bolt ons and a rebuild if the intention is to exceed 600-700whp. As far as the other specs are concerned, it's the asthetic look that makes them stand out more then the base model. safe to assume the Vspec 2 would be another $5-$10K more on the base model.
  8. I realise this isn't a very good comparrison here but reading over this thread has been really informative about what I am tossing up over in terms of which car to buy. I currently own a 2014 Ralliart which is a twin clutch paddle shift just like the GTR only far less advanced and no where near as strong but from a daily driver perspective the twin clutch auto is responsive and the car basically drives itself and does all the thinking/calculating and adapts to your driving style. It was really cool to begin with but I have found that I am bored as I can't manipulate it or bond with it quite like how you could with a manual car. Im impressed with how advanced the car is but like i was saying, the car basically drives itself. I realise an RA is by no means a good comparrison compared to a new GTR but they are kind of similar (moreso with the gearbox design). I loved the look / sounds and overall performance of the R34 Gtr's and that is what I am looking to buy. I do miss driving a manual and being able to be able to fully control the car and being able to have some kind of input in the driving style (without having thousands of sensors and computing power to do everything for me like how the new GTR's do as well as the Evo's WRX ect ect). The price tag between a new GTR and an R34 gtr is quite big and as some of you have said, unless you earn well into the 6 digit figures or have some investments to back you up, it's not viable spending that kind of money on a car when you can spend allot less and get a nice looking R34 and drop some money into it to bring it up to a new GTR standard. I'm no expert with either car however I would think that the price difference between a 34 and 35 you could spend doing up a R34 and still be very happy with the results. one thing that hasn't really been touched which i am curious about is if you had the choice between a stock 34 gtr, Vspec 1, Vspec 2 or N spec, and you were going to spend a decent amount of money upgrading them to say 600-700Whp which would you choose and why. I'm not sure if this has been covered in other threads so I appologies in advance if that is the case, but given the wide range of input I am curious to see what people think.
  9. Ill look into it. Thanks heaps!
  10. Hey guys, Very new to the forums and hoping to be able to learn all there is to know about R34's. I currently own an MY14 Ralliart but am in the process of selling it and importing an R34 Gtr. I am currently based in Perth so hopefully there are some members over here that can assist or recommend some places to get parts and tuning done once im at that stage. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Ben
  11. So without crossing over into another topic. Importing an r34 Gtr with the intension of doing allot of modificaitons to the car over a period of time, is it worth while just going for the base model Gtr or spend the extra and go for a V-spec or V-spec 2 ?
  12. Thanks for the link, looks like a really good place to go then! much appreicated!
  13. G'day all, I'm very new to the group so hopefully this hasn't been covered as yet. but I am in the market for a 2002 R34 GT-R and I am considering importing one in using Iron chef imports who i think are based in SA although I am from Perth. I was wondering if anyone has used them before and if anyone had feedback on their experience? I have searched the used car guides online and have found most 34's seem to be quite costly by comparrison and have been told importing is the best option for saving money and getting exactly what you want (colour, spec, year, km's ect). If anyone has some advice that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben
