Hi all, Just after any type of advice. Ive read topic after topic on different issues and while each topic addresses individual problems my skyline seems to have them all...its just a RB25 non turbo automatic with an exhaust.
symptoms are
Startup is a major issue, If it fires up after the pump primes it usually stalls within 10 seconds of idle
When it stalls after startup it takes about 10 tries to get the engine to start. it will crank but not turn over.
randomly on driving and coming to a stop the engine will just stall instantly.
randomly while driving at any speed or engine load it will just freeze the revs and the engine will start stalling, sometimes it will come good other times it will stall.
at exactly 3500 RPM it shudders or misfires as the RPM Climbs to 4000 and then its fine again
Sometimes the RPM will hit a limiter at 2500-3000 RPM until the car is restarted.
I have run diagnostics on the computer and it came with error codes 12 & 21
I checked the MAF sensor and found that the previous owner had hot wired the 5 pin 4 wire plug to a 3 pin MAF. I bought the proper unit for the car and cleaned it thoroughly with Air Flow Sensor cleaner and installed it, i have since cleared the error codes and now I get no error codes at all.
I have run the engine in the dark and noticed that every coil pack is flashing slightly, sometimes when the coil clicks the engine will misfire other times it does't misfire at all.
I have removed and cleaned both the AAC and the Cold start valve and checked both to make sure they're working properly. I have checked the resistance on all of the coil packs and the all show a solid 0.9 resistance...the car only runs premium petrol.
i have reset the computer, reset the idle, cleaned the throttle body.
I am completely stuck on where to look next, is it normal for the coil packs to flash ? can i check anything else ? Ive run down guide after guide trying to fix this issue. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
