  1. I did actually try that when i was in between BOV's once(no i wasn't hard up for cash). Let me tell you.... shit idea my friend. It would constantly leak on and off while accelerating. But would be fine if you brought it fully onto boost. So yeah, very annoying and doesn't even sound cool! Sounds like a snake with a cold is hiding under your bonnet hissing.
  2. Thanks guys for all the input. It all helps. Like i said i will not be using it till i have the rest of the car ready for a tune. But i have half a mind to leave it in. Just this past week i have noticed it runs twice as good with stopping and going around town then the factory ECU ever did. It doesn't seem to be any more savage on the fuel side of things either. But yes i am also cautious about the air/fuel ratio.
  3. It's actually to make it lighter. So even the slightest bit of boost goes out the BOV instead of building back pressure on your compressor when you let off the right pedal. I haven't actually done this myself but seems to work fine. i wouldn't cut much off though. I have seen where some piston type blow off valves don't sit back in there seat hence making a leak. Thats why i love the Jap brand ones. They keep my boost where it should be
  4. Yes yes. not much point in having the same pressure on both sides. You'd be better just plating it off, HAHA! I have a mate who actually cuts his springs slightly shorter and its works pretty well and sounds phat! So i don't think your problem is the spring stiffness.
  5. Hey dude, I get the picture what your talkin bout. I have had a few BOV's and have always had the vac. line running from the intake plenum and i haven't had any problems. I have my BOV wound on the looser side too and it has never leaked under boost before. I have heard of a couple of cases where Turbo smart BOV's(if thats what you have) being faulty though. So did they show you where exactly you were suppose to have the hose to? Because where i'm from the boys from auto barn wouldn't know there arse from there elbow. No offence to any skyliners who may work there
  6. I got done not long ago too! I had a straight through 3" with an oval muffler at the rear. It wasn't really all that loud except for occasional crack and pop! It was 98db and got a mid muffler box put in and is now 87db but feels like someone stuck a but plug up it! I have been looking at some of the nifty gadgets A'PEXi have to offer like the 'Active tail silencer' or that crazy valve you can put in your exhaust. But to get it cleared you will need something noticeable that they can see, because they take photos from how it was before. Another person i know was actually aloud to put his cannon silencer in before testing..... didn't help him any though. I have to say the EPA were very professional and helpful.
  7. Thanks guys. Well it hasn't been anywhere 40 yet. There's just not much point having a gauge or meter in your car when you don't know whats good and bad . I gave it a bit of a stab the other day on lower boost and it shot up just over 30. So that kinda freaked me out not knowing if that was ok or if i had just hurt my car.
  8. Hi guys, I have just gotten my hands on a used Power FC for my series II and it has been already tuned to a Skyline with similar mods. So i have put it in just to test that everything is working ok. My question is to those of you running a Power FC what is a safe knock level? I haven't driven the car too hard because of this. And also not knowing who tuned it. Oh and don't worry it will be re-tuned once i have the turbo upgrade. So any one who can help, i'm all ears!
  9. Great day guys! and thanks to Jeff for doin a great job. Like IH8VLS said, we dont see much action being in Tamwoth and all. So it was a great day out (except for the trip home). Be great to have you guys up some time Only thing is you probably wont make it past singleton. Oh well once we get our mods engineered and tested I think we are gonna have a BBQ where DONNIE got busted in singleton.
  10. Got the back of the light open. Had to use a small angle grinder to cut a strip off the back (actually worked quite well) . So now if the light isn't working at least i can replace it with anything i want. So thanks for all your help guys n girls.
  11. 1976 Datsun 1200 sedan. Was an awsome little car highly recommended as a first car. Had hardly any hassles with the thing. Now its with a mate whos supercharged it and is winning the 4 cyl. division in burnout comps. Pretty funny because i always had to rev the snot out of it and drop the clutch to get any action from the old girl..... i miss that car
  12. I had my windows tinted not long ago at 30%. The lady said that 35% is that legal tint but they do some police cars and the cop told her they dont really make a fuss if you do go 30%. But was gonna go darker on the quaters and the rear but she said thats illegal on non-comercial vehicles. And they did have the silver tint though doesn't show up as nice as what black does. And i think its kinda gay lookin. But thats just my opinion.
  13. Well i have the electrician looking into making a new circuit box for the EL light and hopefully that does the trick. Had another crack at getting the damn thing open this morning but still no luck. Even tried cutting it open like some others have done, but didn't get to far with that even. It seems to be completely filled with a blue tacky substance.
  14. Hey thanks JD that thread was pretty good. Still dont like my chances at getting the thing apart the clean way. Be careful Liz when trying to open it its pretty tight. I'd hate for yours to get stuffed too . I'll take it back to the electritian and see what we can do even if we have to slice n dice a bit. I just gotta get it goin.
  15. Well im not sure if the light even works yet, been told i need something to replace that circuit box first so it wont harm it. But its a 40th anniversary model and i didn't even realise it was supposed to light up untill a mate pointed it out. And sure enough there are wires coming from it. Been told by a sparky that i could get a replacment for the box but need to know what sort of bulb it is so it doesn't stuff the light all together. Thats if it still works. So any ideas??
