  1. Agree with Juz. Considering you're not driving a turbo, investment in a pod filter will deliver very marginal returns in terms of performance. The best investment for you would be a high flow panel filter - K&N make good filters and are guaranteed for life, service needed every 30,000kms. I use a high flow K&N panel filter in my EVO 8 MR and wouldn't convert to a pod filter unless I purchased a cold air box or relocated the pod to the front bar. Cheers Shanil
  2. had a r34 gt25 not long ago and would be lucky to reach 450+ on a full tank of 98 octane with conservative driving. getting about the same on my evo 8 mr.
  3. This topic has been covered many times before. My opinion - go for a high flow panel filter like a K&N. Though you'll only be looking at minimal power gains. To maximise bang for buck, you could run another pipe from the front bumper up to the airbox for extra cold air (together with the stock airbox intake funnel). I think pod filters are a waste of time with or without a heat shield. Cheers
  4. That cool brother, I'm sure I'll be at many SAU events this year so we'll cross paths for sure! F1 RE30s take my pick! Thanks for the kind words on the Evo, suffering from the modification bug - working hard to fall broke even harder!
  5. Buy a shitbox and save the money to buy something very decent once you hit your full licence. I know it will be hard, but it's well worth it.
  6. favourite car of the day: Matt's r34 with the re30s (Terry's ex-34). Looks hot Matt!!
  7. Hills Motorsport is reputable here. Have not heard of NUTS Performance though. State Roads are pre-purchase vehicle inspectors and that would be my first point of contact for an independent inspection. I had one done recently for an Evo 8 MR and can send you the report if you PM me your email. --> www.stateroads.com.au
  8. Thanks guys Yep the MR edition comes stock with the Bilsteins, CF hood, lghter aluminium roof, turbo setup is slightly different, cam profiles a little more aggressive. It's my first AWD car and absolutely loving the corners!! Also my first turbo and manual car so the last couple of weeks have been a learning curb on both fronts. R34Liner - sorry mate I only have a handful of pics of my actual ride which my brother took to experiment with his new camera. If you want to know what it looks like, it's exactly like this: Evo 8 MR See you guys on Sunday!
  9. Hey gang After quite a bit of browsing the market for a 33 or 34 GTR, I came across a car that I found was to be a little bit better value for money and in my budget - a Mitsubishi Evolution 8 MR. I miss my 34 and waving to other Skylines as I drive past, but I'm having tons of fun with this car. I'm still keen to be an active SAUer and attend everything I can. See you at Putty Road. Enjoy! Cheers Shanil
  10. sweet as, cheers fellas! I'll probably go ahead with it and see where I end up!
  11. love it. will definitely persuade the rents to pick one up.
