  1. Anyone feel like doing a small drive this weekend around the Mackay region for the St Pat's formal? I just found out that my sister doesn't have a car for the formal and I'm hoping someone on here might be willing to help out. Beggars can't be choosers however I would be extremely preferential to something neat/clean. Car model doesn't really matter, we just want something nice Happy to pay for your time/petrol

If I got told that all I had to do was join up for SAU and then I could pay like $100 or $200 to go out on eastern creek with the club for a whole day and it happened like tri-monthly, I'd have joined up right away. Look at properly established drift clubs; private track days for their crew. They're baws. And the one argument that everyone uses against car enthusiasts that like to run their cards hard is to take it to the track; so why not? Needs moar track days / texi's Cruises / car meets are boring as bat shit. At least have a drive out to somewhere nice and have a BBQ or grab some pies. Everyone loves pies. High fives for you Also; maybe a competition like the one that some other club had recently where they had to build a 13 second car for $1300
  3. Don't get a tablet in place of an ebook reader. Reading on an LCD/OLED display is horrible. I have a Galaxy Tab and a Sony E-Reader, and can honestly say my E-Reader shits all over the galaxy tab. I can read books on the sony for hours, yet on the tab I get tired really quickly and have to put it down. Like has been said, e-readers are built for a purpose, and the Kindle is the best built one available. Sony e-reader hasn't got the support in Australia, so I had to root it to get any books on it.

  5. It's on a first-come-first-serve basis, so just show up and see if you make it in. I dare say the overflow would go to Kings Park or Third Av maccas, so just patrol those areas if you're looking for a car meet hahaha. They have 70 people saying they will attend, so spaces are a fair bit limited but if they're saying 40 cars, not 40 people, then you might be able to park down the road and get in haha.
  6. What good would a srs comment come to? Maybe it might restore his evo for him and solve world hunger. Around 35km from yours if I take the M4. +1 to the suspicions, too. Noone picks an evo at random and decides to break into the owners house, take the keys and tie them up. Sad part is, we'll never know why it happened

  8. Buy all your tools first. Like, even if you see a tool and think "Oh I probably won't use that", buy it anyway. "Air compressors are on sale for $200 w/ painting kit? Might as well buy one" Srsly, it'll save your butt haha. Also make sure you have plenty of room. THose are my two biggest killers; i have 40-50cm aruond my car of room to move, and a limited supply of my own tools. I'm constantly driving my half-finished cars to bunnings because I'm missing something.
  9. It's to improve handling around a track apparently. Grab a lock bar, weld your diff, win at life. Just tripple check it exists before you buy the bar.. I've had two N/A 33GTS's, same year model except one had a sunroof, no hicas or ABS and the other had no sunroof, hicas, ABS and more power. Just pointing out that there are some differences...
  10. +1 With slipping grips with deadlifting; Hold the bar with one hand facing away from you, and one facing towards you, and alternate hands with sets. 100KG isn't that heavy... just close your eyes, focus on keeping form and holding on... you should be fine after a couple weeks.
  11. Inb4 haven't done research; i've done a fair bit. I know that the GTS4 front diff creates a bit of friction when disengaged, and there's extra weight at the front. SOmeone on boostcruising (don't judge me; it came up in a google search and I guessed BC knows heaps about hooning, so I checked it out) said his gts4 has been wired up to run in rwd, and he says it performs about the same as his gtst. But I'm worried about causing damage to the front diff if it's been disengaged by pulling a fuse out. Also, is it possible that the front diff can kick in spontaneously, even if it hasn't got a current passing through it? I don't want to be midslide and have the awd kick in. I'm not going to be a fullsick drifter, but I wouldn't mind being able to do some decent slides in the gts4.. plus if I get the awd it'll let me take it out to the skidpan and try out awd drifting.... Plus i got a driftschool voucher from my gf for chrissy... so i'm going to be pretty keen to practice whatever I learn on that day haha (of course, I'm not going to be doing anything on the street)
  12. toasting in this bread... even if it's four years later. The other night, my gf was driving me home from chirssy shopping when a P-Plater in a four door, poorly maintained prancer tried to race her off. 2.5L liberty will smash a 1.5L prancer full of wankers, so we didn't even bother acknowledging them. We turned onto Miranda Drive in Baulkham Hills, and get tailgated by some other subi with HID's blaring at us. Next thing we know, the prancer driver undertakes the tailgaiting subi, then goes for round two and attempts to overtake my gf. Around a blind corner. In a residential area. We saw the parked car he was heading straight towards so my gf hit the breaks and moved into the on-coming traffics lane (luckily noone was approaching) so this flop didn't hit the parked car. (It doesn't sound like there was much forward thinking involved, but because it happened so fast we looked, saw him coming, and were like "wtf is he doing"... then we noticed the parked car and it was a bit of a rush situation to give him room). We get to the next set of lights, and the driver flips us the bird. We're like "wtf we just stopped you killing yourself..", then some trashy lass sticks her body out of the passenger window and starts yelling abuse. You'd have to see the driver, car and passengers to understand how poor of an image this guy gives us jap boys/girls.
  13. Just gonna jump in here... there's a high possibility of damaging your coil packs... don't stress; shit happens. If you do crack the bakerslite, cover it in silicon and get a 0.8mm regap done at your local server. Remember that the guy before you may have definitely thrashed it once or twice every corner. So you may treat her nice but things like coilpacks can stem from previous abuse. +1 to filters. I get SCA oil filters; never had a problem. They're that company starting with Z, I always see people using them. I think the fuel filter is best if you go with a well known brand.. can't talk from experience though. K&N filters are freaking amazing... I can definitely vouch for them. +1 to running on 98.. always.. never get anything else. BP guarantee their fuel; if their Ultimate f**ks up your car, they'll pay for the repairs. Shell won't. Depending on your area, BP are generally cheaper, too. Boost is fun; don't be scared of it but treat it with respect. Take it easy when you first buy it.. especially if it's rainy. Hitting 12psi going up the hill on Old Windsor Road between Abbott and Sevo Road isn't fun when your wheels don't keep traction. Ehh all i can be bothered thinking off. Don't be scared to answer any questions. Also.. service = change water if needed, and put new oil filters on. Do your own service whenever your speedo is something like 10500, 11500. Get a mechanic to check it whenever your speedo is every 11000, 10000, etc.
