  1. No purchases have been made, just asking, I’m not a mechanic, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask questions. Obviously I’m just curious and if cost outweigh benefit than I will not continue to look into this. I don’t see a problem with being curious, and as I mentioned I AM NOT A MECHANIC! If I was then I wouldn’t be here would I?? Just something to think about before hurling your abuse at me. I have little to no car knowledge, hence why I am asking questions so I can learn and hopefully help others one day. I bid you good day Sirs.
  2. Hey Guys, probably sick and tired of my questions, I’ve got a mate that’s just totalled his 350GT, engine bay was untouched and al is in working order, he will give me the engine for 300 dollars, which seems like a pretty good engine, he’s only done like 60K so far so it sounds pretty good. I know the installation will be a large cost but will there be many complications, I know the ECU will need to be swapped out, but is everything else in the car fairly similar? if anyone has done this before let me know. Cheers.
  3. Hi Scott, no disrespect was intended, I will be giving all the options that you have given me in the past to get some extra gains, just getting a lot of info from other sources which I don’t fully understand/believe is true, hence why I come here to speak with those with the experience, I also agree that turbo is a no go with Direct Injection, I’m not a mechanic and I don't have a great amount of knowledge on cars, so any information I do have is purely from the internet and from others around me. But again I do appreciate all the help/suggestions everyone has given me, and will be running with them Thanks Again, Vince
  4. While we are talking about upgrades, anyone have any experience with the Apexi SAFCII with a VQ25DD or any automatic car for that matter? is there much room for any real gains or is this going to add a mere 3-7 Kw, saying that would combining multiple minor mods equal a decent gain? have seen some pro shops around Sydney that custom build turbo’s, I got a quote for a full kit and installation designed for DD engine, would be around 4-8 K but he said he would have to take a look at my engine, so there may be some hope, hope for future Vince who has money, who will most likely just buy a new faster car.
  5. When you say the plenum will work with modification, is this process expensive/time consuming, or is it not worth the 8 - 10 HP from the plenum spacer? Considering if these gains will even be similar or not to a DET engine compared to DD I upgraded the air box with a greedy complete box conversion, noise isn’t really louder and power gain is only slight, I’ve been told that changing the headers will give some decent increases in power, but the only performance headers I can find are for the VQ30DET and VQ35DET, the engines look the same as my VQ25DD, but I’m sure there is some minute differences which makes these parts incompatible for me, although I’d love to be mistaken and have these headers fit with the VQ25DD.
  6. Wow this is an old thread but for the purpose of other buyers out there, i purchased my V35 250GT Sedan, from Jap Auto World at campsie. and to cut a story short, the car is fantastic, i had MTA inspect it on site and the mechanic that came out was pretty impressed and mention that he would buy the car himself if i were to pass up on it, ive been getting it serviced by IS MOTOR RACING in Rockdale, they are fantastic and cheap to, they go out of the way to save you money. Back to Jap Auto World, the car i purchased seemd to have lost the smart key which allowed the car to operate the ignition without a key and keyless entry was also unavailable, the dealer installed an aftermarket one adn i was quite happy with this, later i found out i could order the original smart key from nissan, which i did and i am now enjoying keyless start, all in all great car, and the cost was right as well, my only regret is not getting the 350GT.
  7. sorry, never driven a commodore, dont expect ultimate smoothness, but it as long as it doesnt jerk or anything, i dont realyl care, how is driving tip tronic affected by the shift kits any noticible difference from full auto?
  8. "changes are quicker but not smoother and tend to be clunky/rough on occasion" Does this effect the ride comfort/jerk the car on gear changes? Cheers
  9. What is this Google you speak of? I wasn’t able to find shift kits for my gearbox in the limited time that I have for searching for this kind of thing hence why I post on forums so that I may hear from other peoples experience, as I believe this is a reliable way of getting the right information. In the past I’ve learned so much from Google to only be invalidated by real people’s experience. As far as MV automatics in SA, I am in NSW Sydney, kind of a long drive, but thank you for the information, which i will now use to perform said upgrades . Also how much is Scott charging you to put in the shift kit, really looking at getting this upgrade. Thanks again, Vince
  10. Ok, thanks for all the information, where would one get e85, i dont think ive seen it at regular petrol station, only ever seen 10% ethenol. anyway theres a lot to consider ( buying a different car) being one of em, but id be keen to hear of any other modes that can add something to the car, be it speed or control, shift kits seem like a great mod for an automatic car however i dont know to much about them and have only heard of the Trans Go range, which unfortunately don't make a kit for my gear box (RE4R01B) so if anyone has any experience with this gear box and gettitng a shift kit installed id love to hear about it. Cheers
  11. man thats a shame, what exactly is e85? i guess i should have done some more research when i baught the car ah well what can you do, you wouldnt happen to know if the Plenum spacer Kit for the VQ35DE will fit on the VQ25DD, i mean the engine looks the same shape. Thanks Again
  12. Really would like to turbo charge but i have a couple of questions which I haven’t been able to answer myself online. 1. Is it possible (I assume you can pretty much Turbo any V6 but again that’s why I’m asking) 2. Cost$$$ 3. What other upgrades need to be done so that this turbo can be implemented efficiently. 4. Is it worth the time? Again thanks and if anyone has experience doing this be it negative or positive I’d love to know.
  13. Lol smart ass, I was reffering to Infinity G37 Coupe which is the same shape as V35. so in actual fact it has been released, have a look. http://www.infiniticars.com.au/g37-coupe/key-features.html
  14. I Have this exact same issue, i used a headlight repair kit from autobarna nd it worked great however 2-3 months later its back to the old yellow haze, i was thinking to get some custom ones made up from an auto customs place anyone dones this or is this going to cost a fortune?
  15. Yeah i didnt do enough research when i baught the car, aiming to get a V37 nextime lol my mechanic brother wants to put a twin turbo in my car, but i think that will be a waste of time/money.
