Hi guys,

Last time I took my R33 GTST to the drags was 12 years ago - back then I did 5 runs, snuck into 13s on the last run (13.94 @ 106MPH) and was happy with that and drove home.

I'm heading out tomorrow to Willowbank with some mates for a bit of fun and looking for tips - including reducing the risk of breakages and being able to drive home 😀.

Mods - Power FC, FMIC, oil cooler, boost controller, HKS2530 turbo, NPC organic single plate clutch without many km on it + NPC lightened flywheel.

Stock manual gearbox and diff, cheap street tyres (Achilles) with plenty of tread, 245x45x18.

Dynoed at 234 RWKW on PULP 98

Fresh oil, brakes pads/rotors/fluid are in good nick

I've read a bunch of posts in this forum that include advice such as:

remove extra weight (in my case that would only be the spare wheel, jack etc

have 1/2 tank fuel, not full

lower the rear tyre pressure (I'll have a pump to re-inflate).

My old 2530 turbo is a bit laggy, so I know that I'll have to slip the clutch to get the old girl off the line.

The other guys I'm going with will likely be in high 12s/low 13s (chipped BMW M2 and C43 Merc - both autos), so there'll be a temptation to push things a bit - and I'm seeking guidance on getting reasonable ETs while minimising the risk of breakages (and I accept there's always a risk I'll break something)

	I have questions such as:

what sort of revs do you try to leave the start line at?

is there any point in doing a burn out on street tyres? I would assume some benefit is gained from a warm tyre compared to cold?

depending on the number of people running - especially at the start of the session - there may be opportunities to do back to back runs with minimal time between - if oil and water temps are fine, do I just line up again, or should I give the clutch some time to cool down?

The car doesn't get driven much - I've got 1/2 tank of P98 but it's 2 months old - should I throw in a bottle of octane booster?

any other tips on getting good ETs in a manual Skyline with minor mods?

It will be a fun night - beating the BMW or the Merc is unlikely, but if I cut a better reaction time and get a good launch I may beat them over the line even with a slower ET....that's the stretch target...

Getting an ET around 13.5s (or better) and driving home after is the primary target 😀

	cheers

	Mike

Hey guys I am looking to purchase a turbo car for my daily drive and I want to get into drifting. I am just curious, considering I've never done drifting before, how often do you run into issues with your car due to drifting? Would you say its a bad decision to drift in a daily?

Hi. I'm Ben from Alice Springs and I own two GTR's. An R32 and an R33. The R33 has 330kw @ wheels and my R32 has 550kw @ wheels according to the dyno sheets. My questions are mainly aimed at the R32 GTR that I've been drag racing at the new ASID 1/4 here in the NT for the past six months. Okay, the main thing I want to know is why my times suck so much if I apparently have so much power ?

R32 has the following main modifications :

-Fully rebuilt engine with aries pistons, crower rods, N1 rings, N1 oil + water pumps, tomei cams, power fc pro, 800cc injectors, sard fuel pump, trust fuel rail + regulator, hks evc 3, splitfire coilpacks, tein coilovers (not sure what type but the are low and hard)

-Garrett turbo with 1.00 a/r ex housing (looks like could be TA45S), hks external wastegate, trust intercooler, 4 inch exhaust,

-Trust 6 speed dog box, os giken triple plate clutch, look the list goes on and on ....

The car is running around 1.5 - 1.6 bar of boost with M/T ET Street R16-255/50 tyres at around 16 - 20 psi.

My 60 foot best is 1.701, 1/4 best of 11.02 and MPH best of 129.8 with doing a rwd burnout.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON ? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?

Car revs to 8500 as injectors are at 100% at 8800. Using power fc pro lauch control at around 7600 as 8000 + fries the tyres.

I'm starting to think something is really wrong here ? Please any advice from experienced 10 sec or lower GTR racers would be awesome as there is not anyone really seriously modifying GTR's (or any import for that matter) to get real no bullshit info from in the NT.

I need info from people that have actually done this -

What do I have to do to get to at least low 10's/high 9's consistently ? I'm out of ideas as I know I could go for more power but surely that MPH is good for mid 10's at least. Thanks for any help.

	G’day

Had a good look through, however surprisingly hasn’t been covered.

Looking at getting a bit more squat out of the rear end of my R32, currently has quantum racing coil overs which are more suitable to circuit work.

With the discontinuation of the HKS Hipermax drag coil overs what are people running these days for trips down the strip? car is by no means an all out drag car, i use it for as many different events as possible, however wouldn't mind having a set of rear coil overs to bolt in when looking to do some drag passes

	Cheers,

I have done one skid pan event with it which i enjoyed.

i have coil overs all round and a locked diff

I need some questions from you guys about general stuff

Ok so i need some Tyre tips:

Wheres a good place where to get a good front Tyre in Vic

and what tires are a good base for a entry level setup, i was thinking the federal 595? im not to sure.

as for the rears where do you guys get your cheaper rear tires?

also where do you guys buy your drift components in Australia like (hydro handbrakes, lock kits and other fun stuff)

And I have to say, had a ball, great fun and not too hard on the cars, I was rolling up to 50km/h in second gear then planting it at the tree, shifting at 7-7500rpm, car did very well, I was hitting 200-220km/h by the finish line.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that we are the New World Record holder for Fastest H-pattern Street Tyred GTR on the planet.

After coming so close to the record last year at the 2012 Brisbane Jamboree with a 8.97 sec pass, we were in good contention to take the record, but in drag racing things fail and 3rd Gear decided to throw in the towel after having a promising half track time. This only left us 0.02sec off Theo's time and making us ever so hungry to achieve that goal.

So we decided to head to Benaraby Dragway for the weekend for Round 3 of the CQDRA Championship to give the GTR a run. This is its first run since blowing the gearbox up at last years Jamboree in Sept. Now I really wanna give the guys and gals and Benaraby Raceway a huge wrap for the awesome event they held and the support they gave our car was unbelievable. The track condition was perfect, best I have seen if not better than Willowbank. They are doing a terrific job out there spending a lot a dollars to get that place up to spec. Great Job keep up the good work.

Before I go into too much detail. I got to give our Main Man Mr Mark Jacobsen from Godzilla Motorsport a huge thank you, for all he has done for us, his support and knowledge has been unbelievable without his over the phone late night support that night this would never have been possible without him. Proud to part of the Godzilla Motorsport Team. Secondly another huge thank you to Dave Sheehy at CPV Tuning, for his continual help for the team, his valuable knowledge and input helped us immensely.

Ok to the runs, we not only broke Theo Woollett's previous World record 8.95sec @ 159 Mph which has stood for over 6yrs put we managed to back I up 4 times in a row, completely smashing it out of the ball park.

1st pass - 8.91 sec @ 152Mph with a 1.33 sec 60ft

2nd pass - 8.65 sec @ 150Mph with a 1.23 sec 60ft

3rd pass - 8.59 sec @ 152Mph with a 1.27 sec 60ft

4th pass - 8.52 sec @ 162mph with a 1.30 sec 60ft

With that said and done we are now gonna chase down the next record which is (correct me if i'm wrong) the CV Performance R32 GTR which currently hold the record at 8.47 sec. For the fastest radial GTR in the world with and gearbox setup. That puts us at 0.05sec behind, can we do it, hell yeah we can gonna be an exciting year stay tuned for updates.

Here is the pic of the golden ticket

	Hi guys,

I dropped the car off off earlier this week for some nice additions and let's just say things haven't gone to plan 🙄

So now I'm going to forge it and in a final act of defiance I am thinking about a powerglide but looking around there seems to be lots of different ones, do any of them serve in the skyline or is there a particular one that should be used?

I only really use the car at the strip now.

	Thanks for your help

	Fastest Pumpgas Street Skylines

I'm running 93 octane USA fuel which I think is equivalent to RON98 and am curious what some of the fastest full-body, full interior, full accessory (PS, AC etc) skylines are running. I'm trying to get a benchmark for my setup. I'm currently on 20 psi boost and think that it will tip 130 mph soon and be in the high 10's on 255 hankook RS3 tires now that my boost control issue seems sorted. Curious what target numbers are out there.

If you have some pumpgas (non-E85, non-racegas, non-WMI) time and mph runs please post them here.

	Thank You,

	Patrick

Here's my last time at the track with bad boost control (spike, pull timing and boost, then slowly recover).

	60' = 1.772
330 = 4.837
1/8 mile = 7.363 @ 99.14
1/4 mile = 11.288 @ 126.26

Anyone know the record for an RB20det powered vehicle? I recently ran 10.67 1/4 mile in my RB20 powered rx-7. I would have to assume an 8 or 9 sec car.

	Is this documented?

	Hey all

Im looking at changing the rear end of my r33 gtst. runs about 400kws at the wheels. im struggling to get any traction even on a well prepped strip and slicks.

Below is a video, if you turn the sound up you can hear im on and off throttle the whole time and spinning/loosing traction the whole time.

At the moment it just has a welded diff and lower springs with soft shocks,

What can i do to sort this??

Ok got the car to the track for the first time for harmless fun. I read on the subject before hand so I could get an idea on launching etc. Practiced on the street a few times also. I will give a run down of my setup. Full midori 3 to 3.5 inch exhaust (stock turbo dumps for now), Omori inlet pipes, Nismo intercooler/piping, Nismo twin disc, HKS coilovers, Advan AD08R 265/35/18 33 psi, 12-13 psi on stock turbos, stock air box, OEM ECU....unopened motor. Basically stock with bolt ons. What I did was launch the car from 7k. Kept getting wheel hop and 2.0-2.2 60 foot times. Never broke 2.0. Was trapping 100-104 mph all night. My best time was a 13.61 with a passenger! Other than that it was consistent 13.9. Something doesn't seem right to me. I even tried to launch at 6k and 5k but it did no help. 5k was to low as the car would bog down. Could it be the wheel tire setup? Should I throw the stockers on with a decent tire? I also have some te37 17x9 +22 if those would be a better choice. I could have put the coils to full soft in the rear, that may help a smidge. I was also shifting at 7k. Seemed like the finish line was at the very top of 3rd gear 7-7.5k rpm. What am I doing wrong here. Thanks!!!

I’m in need of some advice regarding tires/wheels for dragracing, as dragracing Skylines isn’t that popular in the Netherlands I figured I’d post here in the hope you guys can help me out.

As of now the specs on my car are:

Stock spec 2 RB25det

Stock turbo

Tomei poncams

Boostcontroller set to @11 psi

3 inch frontpipe, decat, Apexi 3 inch catback

RSP/Bell’s stage 1 ECU

FMIC

HKS filter

We don’t have a dedicated dragstrip in the Netherlands, so most races are held on an airfield or on the straight of a circuit.

For the bigger events the “track” gets prepped but even then I seem to have problems running the times that I feel I should be able to run.

My best time for now is a 14.4@98 mph with a 60 ft of 2.3 which in my opinion is not up to the potential of the car.

I feel that I should be able to get some better times if I get my 60 ft times down but for that I would need to get some decent tires on the car, currently running my 18 inch wheels with 265/35’s

From reading a bit it seems that the MT ET streets are the way to go, I just don’t know which size to get.

I’ve been looking at the 255/60/15 and 255/50/16, the 16 inch being closer in overall size to what I’m currently running but which one would be better?

And would the stock R33 GTST wheel be adequate to run the 255/50/16 MT Streets?

Hey folks

I'm kinda toying with the idea of chucking one of those girly homo spec 2 pedal things in the car....

Spoken to a couple of guys about having a transbraked C4 or Turbo 350 built.

But has anyone tried any of the off the shelf options, such as TCI or Performance Automatic.

Eg http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/534678

or

http://www.tciauto.com/tc/drag-race-th350-transmission-transbrake-reverse-shift-small-big-block-chevyhtml/

About 1000 bucks cheaper than one built locally. but are they any good?

Does anyone have any recommendations for bellhousings/adaptors?
