No....not that kind of tool.....

The "how do I get this old rubber hose off" thread reminded me about this idea.....so here it is, the cool tool thread.

What are the odd/unusual/invaluable tools you use!

Here is the opening item....

What: Hose Pliers

For: Saving your knuckles! Gets most hoses off, and after 20 years they can be damn hard to budge! Vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, breather hoses you name it.

From: Got mine from the tool guy that came to the show n shine....probably need to find a specialist tools shop

Cost: About $30

Went for an early morning drive up the Putty Rd early on Saturday morning to check out the conditions.

A slight rain was falling and the road varied from dry to wet with everything in between.

Going across and past the Colo Heights section the devastation was very confronting.

Its very well to see news reports and be concerned and slightly detached but when you see it in person its another thing entirely.

You can see the sections hardest hit where the very tops of the trees, where the intensity of the fire, has reached.

I stopped at one of the lookouts and if you want to see what an apocalyptic landscape looks like that surely must be it.

Further along there is some new re-growth where the fires must of went through late last year.

Kangaroos on the roadside ( and nearly collected some ) trying to get feed on the new grasses sprouting.

Again a very confronting day and problems processing the images in my head.

I think us suburbanites (and I live at the foot of the Blue Mountains) take a lot for granted in our safety.

I recommend you go see. Its very sobering

I guess many/most of you have already seen this news elsewhere, but for those who aren't social media-ly active, one of our club's founding members, Nick, passed away on Friday.

Nick had health challenges from birth, and while he fought hard over the years his health was deteriorating, leading to longer hospital stays and less active times in between. Unfortunately his challenges caught up with him and he passed peacefully last week.

I knew Nick for almost 20 years, and he was always one of the most giving and committed members of the club, despite his challenges. He was a VP and committee member, a key organiser of big events like our social cruises and show n shines, and did a great job looking after designing and managing sales of the club merchandise for about 10 years. He was passionate about cars and particularly Stageas and Skylines until the end, even if he went a bit off the rails (ie euro) in later years.

Please join me in wishing his family and friends well, and feel free to post here your memories/pics/thoughts for everyone.

I’ve narrowed it down to birrong and Croydon open to others this is my list mods include -9 turbos gtss x force dumps, tomei mainfold, hks front pipe, hks hard intake pipping kit, hks fuel rail, 800cc sard injectors, tomei fuel reg, Walbro 450l fuel pump, catch can, Apexi cat, tomei adjustable cams, haltech platinum pro ecu. I am chasing 330-350kw on pump fuel 98 I think this realistic I guess the turbos are the limiting factor here

Hey guys.
Ill try to keep this ‘as in a nutshell’ as I can, but I would like to share my experience with ya. I dunno where this belongs, if its not here you will let me know, im sure.

My love for skylines started when I was about 12 years old and my older Sisters bf got a (fairly new at the time) R33 GTST. I loved the look of this thing and nagged my sister to let him take me for a spin. Lets just say i found out it was fast as hell too… I was a happy boy with a dream to own one of them one day. To keep this all in that nut shell, that day finally happened 13 years later when I finally could buy this:

I was over the moon when I got it, only to have that feeling shattered the very next day to find out the 2 cylinders were down 50psi. Cool, 12 months later I got a second hand motor, threw it in and the radiator didn’t like the commotion and decided to leak. No worries, new radiator and im laughing… for a week. My car has gone from going and sounding really well to not so much. Studs broken off front and back of new motor. Awesome, extract studs and put all back on. 2 weeks later I start my car up after work and it SCREEEEEAAAMED at me. WTF is THAT??? Oh… That’s my oil pump just SCREAMING for no apparent reason (inspected it… looked fine?) Fantastic. New oil pump on there and bobs my aunty.

That’s the nutshell version of my beginnings… now what happened over the next few years between the beginning and the end is also really messed up. Ive had a hell of a ride the last few years but they aint skyline related so lets just skip to the end. My car went pretty fkn quickly from this:

to this:

Driving to work up Macquarie Pass (Really fun for a Sunday drive, ticking time bomb for a weekly commute) and some young pr*ck in a work ute, loaded with tools and armed with a bull bar, took a corner too quick and come on to my side of the road and that was that. The only thing I had time for was to close my eyes. He caused a bit of a mess so in the end we had 4 police, 2 fire trucks, 2 tow trucks all cramming the pass for everyone.

I had a sore neck and a sore toe (was only wearing thongs) and said no to an ambulance as I didn’t think I needed one, and didn’t think we needed any more emergency vehicles clogging the road so I just said “naah its just whiplash” done the police things, jumped in the tow truck and got the towie to drop me home.

Once home I thought… you know what? This aint my fault so if this sore neck does turn out for what ever reason to be something worse than whiplash… im covered as hell so I went into hospital about 3 hours after the accident.
BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! All 7 vertebrae in my neck were broken. 6 were fine, just chips or something but my C2 was fractured in 2 places. I got transferred to Wollongong hospital as the one I was at didn’t have a neurosurgeon. MRI results come back and I find out the good news, the broken ‘piece’ hadn’t moved so I didn’t require surgery. Stayed for another night to make sure all is good and got discharged with a cervical collar I have to wear for the next 6 weeks. The only time I’m allowed to take it off is when I’m putting the waterproof one on to shower.

That’s about it for now. I’m nearly 3 weeks through the 6 week collar journey and let me tell you… these things are annoying. Expesh sleeping.

Morals? Careful on the road, there’s f*ckwits everywhere and always get yourself checked out after an accident, you never know… whiplash might not be whiplash. It will not hurt straight away so don’t rely on pain to tell you to go to the hospital, just go. Theres probably heaps more morals but Im not a computer person and I just typed this novel and a for sale add you need to check out: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/463161-r33-gtst-s2-parts-nsw/

	Hey Everyone;

Last night going home along the Great Western Highway at Kingswood a very nice S15 had broken down at the lights in the left hand lane turning right.

No bugger would stop and give him a hand so I U-turned it down the road a bit and went back to see if I could help.

Pulled up and he had gotten it into a side street and it wouldn't fire no matter how much he cranked it.

It looked as if the fuel pump wasn't working so we tried bashing on the underside of the tank to see if we could get it to prime

No soap there ! So we pupped out the carpet to get to the inspection cover.

he wasn't carrying tools and luckily I had a full tool kit on me and we took off the inspection cover to find that there was fuel pouring out of the ring seal.

This hadn't been installed correctly at on stage and when we re-seated it and tightened it up it fired up just fine with no leaks.

He thanked me and was very grateful that I had even pulled up and proceed to tell me that in the past when he had broken down ( in a S14 ) he would cop abuse like "buy a Holden"

and so on with no one pulling up to help

Has anyone else gone through the coping "carism"

And lets hope he pays it forward to anyone else who brakes down

So I'm building an Rb26/30 to go into an s15. I've got most my parts etc, I'm just in need of a reputable place to go for the build.

I'm in between Canberra and Sydney so either city will be fine. I know the usual places, Queen Street, maatouks etc. Just wondering if there's any other places worth checking out so I cant get a few quotes before hand.

	Thanks
