  1. I brought a NA R34 a few years ago. Its a good fun 6k car. not a good 15-20k car. Def go something more modern

  2. Cause I want to run Classic GT and Targa are now running with the VIN to determen the build date. That's why there are now cars spread over different classes. I'm guessing they don't want classic being flooded with late 80's japanese cars, so they've made it harder

  3. Can of petrol and a lighter. Welcome to forums 👍

  4. I always think Lancer Ralliarts are the biggest unknown sleeper. Same drivetrain as the Evo X, with slightly slimmer bodykit. Same potential. Look pretty shit though. That said, also cheap. Unsure if P platers can drive them but if they can, then oh boy there's potential there too.

  5. Golf R great choice as well, impress your mates and ya mum at the same time! Seriously though, those little VW's are pretty quick. Between the 86 and the Golf, you've literally just described almost half the regular field in our local time attack series haha. None of them are anywhere close to winning, but they're giving it a red hot crack 😅

  6. I would take a Golf R, faster better, much more comfortable & safer. Flash, dump pipe, better intercooler, better intake and you'll toast most turbo charged 86 shit boxes.

  7. There's nothing a R34 does better than an 86. Nothing. A R34 N/A is not a performance car. It's closer to a Hyundai Tiburon if anything. A R34 Manual GTT in stock form (I.e out of the price range anyhow) is about the same performance in a straight line as an 86 anyway lol. Also there's plenty reasons why P platers love hot hatches too, as an alternative.

  8. I would say forget the Skyline, get the 86. 86/BRZ being the more modern car will be the nicest to drive, so that would probably be my pick. Plus less police attention, decent aftermarket options, etc.

  9. Sooooo I took a year to grind and stack money. I have enough to blow on everything I need to bring this rb26 build to life, so I will be getting started now. I hope y'all can tune in for a decent build

  10. Ignore rusting Japanese cars from the 90's, nostalgia and dogecoins drove prices up, not worth it unless you're a drug dealer. I'd get something cheap to insure, get full license then get something with B48/B58 or new 400Z

  11. I was looking at one this morning! Price range is definitely a big pro but yeah, they look worse than my 2006 corolla hatch hehe

  12. Intake pipe, pod filter, pod enclosure and either delete the BOV (DV as they call it in their realm) OR just get one that's adjustable and clamp it down tight for that doseeeeeeeeee life.

  14. Recently purchased a black 2002 NM35 VQ25DET, guy was going to drift it but didnt have time to get to it so it sat. I picked it up and got it home replaced both cam sensors and she runs like a dream.. Impul garage turn (running rich), Then coil overs, HKS waste gate and turbo (don't remember the specs) only 138k km on the clock

  15. replaced both cam angle sensors and realised that parts stores can get it very wrong

  16. So first steps have been taken for Targa next year. I now have a 1989 shell ready for classic. Just need to cage it and touch the paint up haha

  17. I sure change the oil in my stagea at 5000klm...but it has a bit more whoosh than stock. But yes, for more daily use I would (and do) change oil and filter at 10,000

  18. Also finished the exhaust for the Evo, took a lot longer than I'd hoped / expected 🙄 but turned out relatively good. A lot quieter than I'd expected too...

  20. In this video at 1:45 Skaife mentions that the engines ran 1.8 or 1.9 bar and roughly 650-700 hp for max attack, probably qualifying. For the actual race 1.2 or 1.3 bar, roughly 600 hp: Modern technology helps but at the end of the day people have mentioned that the RB26 starts flexing in ways that are not conducive for longevity around the 700-800 crank hp mark even with a dry sump to 100% fix any oiling concerns. You can use block braces and all that fun stuff to keep pushing the limits but strictly speaking about what Nissan engineers designed the RB26 block to do it sounds a lot like 600 hp for group A with a 1.2x safety factor to me, with additional derate depending upon how long you want to go between rebuilds. To me 600 hp is a lot, especially from a dinky little 2.6-2.8L engine but you might not agree. Even with 2.8L that would be on par with stuff like the A45S AMG which has the highest specific output engine in a production car today.

  21. I'd buy the new one. Known working box for affordable money. Just do it. These old cars are not for broke-arse skimping any more.

  22. Raced the car over the weekend, put the advan a050 on & got a wheel alignment friday. Did some logging on the way out to the track and was having weired issues with it hitting a MAP Limit randomly under load. Round 1 kept hitting a limiter at different loads and then lost all positve manifold pressure. Checked all the intercooler pipes and nothing wrong so pulled all the pipes and checked to see if BOV was stuck open but it was fine. Ended up pulling the external gate, stripping & inspecting it. Found nothing wrong so assembled it all started up and went for a quick drive and had boost again. To be safe I zeroed the wastegate table above 3500rpm and did the next session and no issues so random. Car was perfect after that and ended up going 47.45 Finished 1st in class and tied 4th outright was beaten by rcr skeleton, BMW M3 race car, 400kw WRX and 600hp LS ae86. The adavns are still the best tyre I have used and won't be going back to the nankang. Throttle blip was good for 2 corners and added another 5%. Need to do an oil change & bolt check will be sorted for another event. Should also look at a new clutch as was slipping towards the end of the day. Really want to put the fixed back seat in so I'm not sliding around......

  24. In preparation for next weekends sprints bought an aeroflow dbw adapter and Intercooler clamp kit Was going to modify my pipe but wasn't going to work and look right so made a new one and it's a lot better than the original, a mate helped me out with advice on tig settings so welds are looking better. So with that done had to go test with a quick run up the highway. Before heading off I'd setup flat shift and boost by gear. It all works as intended and it's weird not lifting going up the gears. So will go through and setup the downshift blip too. Spent this afternoon going over the car with a bolt & fluid check, rebled brakes & clutch and made a camera mount for the rear pillar bar. Just need to get the advans fitted and put in fresh fuel.
