  1. Yeah but a 7685 on 15psi on 98 real world? My opinion ? Car will be still mostly asleep until 6000rpm even on a 3.2. With that turbo on low boost it'll be chopped on the street by a Yaris. Not a GR, a normal Yaris. This is a 1300hp + at wheels turbo - low boost and 98 is going to be shit. Not trying to shit on such an expensive combo but this setup is all about the top end and nothing else. It is never going to be a well rounded package. Still keen to see the actual outcome though - It needs E85

  2. I'm that guy. My tip would be not to use that engine, the main reason being you'd be happy to get 170whp out of it. Is that really enough for what you want to do? The BMW 3L motors or the 2.5 or the 2.8 would likely perform better and be more available. That said, there's a lot better motors than that in abundance over there in the USA. _especially_ if you don't need to make it road legal ever. Signed, A LS owner.

  3. All turbos need to have a small movement in the shaft as the bearings relys on that clearance for rotation and oil delivery, you can that as bearing clearance. I say there should be nothing wrong with it since it came out of a fully working car. Assume its a bush bearing high flow, must make sure it runs an -4 oil line with no oil restrictors.

  4. Remember with E85 it's potentially an 8 second car though 👍

  5. Google or ebay for your items. There are is lots of info about the language conversion in this forum. But some Audio shop or import shop in Victoria should be able to help. Some forum members would have all the info you need but they might not come online for weeks or months or ever

  6. To be fair mine is a FWD hatch that I share with my mum. I wouldn't track it haha. But the point is you get into a modern performance car and drive instead of fixing 30 years old stuff. Especially now that 90's JDM cars and parts have shot up dramatically.

  7. Keep adding boost until it goes bang, then back off 2psi for safety

  8. I used to run the recommended dwell too, then Alex from Birrong had a look at my tune when I was using his dyno and recommended I dropped the dwell. This may have also fixed the misfiring issue as well, however can't fully attribute to this because at the same time swapped out the iridium plugs to coppers at the same time.

  9. It's been a few weeks and I did in fact manage to get coilpacks done. The PRP kit is such high quality and comes with their shorter stalks so I can fit my valley cover if I ever want to again (which I likely will. The kit comes with genuine Hitachi coils, shorter stalks, replacement loom and the billet bracket as well as all bolts for fitting. It looks great once fitted... shame about my cam covers though haha The only issue I ran into was the eyelet on the new loom that's used to ground the coilpacks was the wrong size to fit where my stock ground bolts to... so I cut it off and spliced into the original ground, which I also reconnected to the same bolt. I added a spade connector so I can remove quickly and easily in future without having to also unbolt the ground wire from the back of the head (being a S2 RB25, having no igniter box etc). The finished product: Once that was all hooked up it fired up right away with no weird hesitations etc. I played with the dwell settings in the Haltech but using PRP's suggested settings made it run like crap... so I reverted to the stock dwell times and she's running mint. I'll leave that up to the tuner.

  11. This thread is legit great when you don't get on here everyday: Come on once a week, read 1 out of 5 pages to learn still no Samsonas; assume the other 4 filled with reno chat/solar chat/Johnny trying to convince us all to get a BMW, log back out. See you all in a week, can't wait for the Samsonas pics!

  14. After avoiding working on the GT-R for the vast majority of the last few lockdowns I absolutely banned myself from doing anything BUT work on the Skyline today. Nek minnit I'm reallocation power points in the shed and watching BMX Bandits with the kids. Oh FFS.... But I did manage to get my exhaust manifold and the intake plenum prepped and powdercoated. The exhaust I was always going to do but the intake was one of those things I was just going to stop dicking around and whack it on. So glad I did it though as it came up awesome! I'm really happy with it. The exhaust came up so-so. It has a few lumps and blemishes in it but by the time I've run it a few times I'm sure they'll be invisible anyway. Just got the plenum to head spacer to do tomorrow then both sides are done. I'm going to have to get the local powdercoater to do my dump pipe and wastegate pipes as they're too big to fit in my oven in the shed. Might need to update to a newer/larger model! I made up a bit of a jig to hold the exhaust upright in the oven to stop it touching on anything. It worked quite well. The exhaust is a high temp powdercoat and just satin black for the cold side. Really don't know how the high temp powdercoat will hold up. Presumably not as good as ceramic coating but as long as it holds the rust at bay it's worth it! Some action shots from the day-

  15. Has there been any documented evidence about this number 5/6 running lean thing or is it something that’s been regurgitated online because someone said it and is now become “gospel”? I bought into this about 12 years ago when buying the Nismo plenum, I do run IEGT sensors BUT the guy that tunes it said he hasn’t seen this issue even with the standard plenums.

  16. Alright update time I'll 100% forget things but as lots has happened ..... summary version goes New carbon bonnet by @Unzipped Compositeswith vents - only weighs 3kg with everything saved over 8kg in total and increased cooling Got my own hard wired Dorian Increasing track time to iron out issues two major issues: 1) suspension wasnt up to the task we kept hitting spliiter into the ground .... took it out sent it off to specialist tried it again didnt get the setting right in time, mm's matter !! and broke my splitter smashing it into the ground, the fireworks from the Ti skid plates was super cool as it was at night but extremely painful for me Got another splitter build and more / different suspension tuning - we have it nailed now this is an art in itself and learnt massive amounts! 2) even testing on Nankangs and the suspension not right yet previous to the fix we couldnt hold oil pressure through some of the corners using all good wet sump gear and ecu tricks > so dry sump it was Throughout this I was very fortunate to be able to pick up sponsorship from Autopro, Raceworks and Penrite So back to the track we go for more testing - things went well Time to turn up to wick - was running 400hp though all this banged some pounds into it Its been a long road but we finally have put together 2 full sessions of testing / practice running. The car has run faultlessly and quickly have got a handle on it but still more to come through seat time and setup. Already set a new PB by a decent margin on pretty shagged tyres and aiming for more Its starting to feel worth it And onwards we go
