  4. HEy all i'm after a front LH guard in white (series 1 white) good condition IF you are in Sydney please reply or PM me. Would prefer to check it out first to see if the colours match.
  5. If you are chasing big power then go for an ebc. If you are only going for mild mods then you can just stick with a bleed valve. In my opinion the ebc( i have profec B II) is much better than a bleed valve. The bleed valve would spike on my setup ( Had turbosmart dual stage). It was good at holding up to 12psi then after that the boost would spike. Also with the ebc you can adjust the gain setting and start boost setting. This will let your boost hold more steady, and also make boost come on earlier. rather than a bleed valve which you can only adjust how much it will bleed. This is from my experience and my recommendation is if you got the cash go the ebc. I've only used Profec B II so i can't comment on other ebc's. If you got stock turbo and plan to keep it stock, then a bleed valve will be fine. If you are going for aftermarket turbo, then get the EBC. Hope that helps.
  6. Yeah already got apexi pod. Just got a nismo fuel pump. The car runs alot better now. I just played with the boost controller setting. Before the car was laggy and really sluggish, but since playing with the boost controller the car feels much better to drive. boost comes on earlier and harder i even dropped the duty cycle down so max boost is only 16psi. just bumped up the gain value and start boost setting. Midrange is much stronger I'm happy with it for now.
  7. I highly recoomend Yavuz from unigroup. He is a top bloke. Go for the premium tune with them. Cost about $600ish but he has your car for 3 days and he tunes everything.. Cold start, idle, partial throttle etc etc. Also for 12 months he will do tune and check up on your car for free, if anything goes wrong or your not happy.
  8. Clean my Air filter on the weekend, it was filthy (Apexi Pod) Ther was so much dirt and oil coming off it. HAd it for 4 years never cleaned it. Perhaps this was causing the pinging. Also how can you tell if your BOV is leaking. I have the stock BOV.
  9. Hey mate, Yeah my tuner could hear it knocking when it was on the dyno.. i don't know what knocking really sounds like i couldn't hear anything besides the exhaust. But i was in the car during the dyno run and my tuner had his head in the engine bay. Thanks for the replies guys. Will take it to another tuner when time and money permits ( at the moment its on a safe tune so no pinging so it's not like i need to rush). A few people suggested block cat. I took it off and had a look and the honeycomb is still intact, but i guess that doesn't necessarily means it's flowing right. My mate suggested punching the cat out, and see if it stops pinging. Hmm but then if it doesn't fix the problem i will need a new cat anyway. hahaha Carbon canister hey.. will have to check that out too.. thanks for the ideas.
  10. oh ok, It's just that the water temp would rise whenever the car pings. Also i saw on the dyno the second run after the ping, the car makes less power everywhere but no ping.. and he hadn't touched the computer. Weird.
  11. My Old tuner said that when my car is pinging, the water temp rises to about 90. usually it is around 84. He said that when it detects a rise in water temp, the PFC will pull it back abit. Is this true?

  14. Thanks for all the replies. I have spoken to Adam from JEM (JEM did not tune my car) who told me that he knows and respects the person who tuned my car. he said that the problem is more than likely mechanical rather than tuning. He said this is an odd problem, which cannot be fixed with any tuning. I read in a HPI mag where they were tuning their R32 project car, and with the GTR hi flow cat it was pinging but then the pinging stopped when they changed to a metal cat. I then spoke to Indy from ISMOtor racing and he said that i should not be running that much boost throguh stock internals. i should only be running 14psi max!! Either way he was keen to get to the bottom of the problem and said bring the car in and he will check it out. So i will arange to take it to him soon. The only thing is how do i know if my PFC has been locked by the previous tuner?
  15. skylinecouple, I got one of those 3" bellmouth front/dump pipe in one. I'm running a Greddy profec B II boost controller and a Hybrid intercooler( has a limited edition drift plague on it if that means anything). However the intercooler is sitting behind the stock serie 1 front bar ( for stealth) i was told this should be ok, as it's not a track car and i won't be running that much power. How did you fix your problem? I don't really mind if the peak power is only 220rwkw, but the midrange is just dreadful. There is no kick. Just for interest sake i had a rolling run (2nd gear) with my mate who has a stock turbo and he was keeping up with me. Before the detune the car had massive midrange and then would ping up top. but now it doesnt ping but no midrange.. what mods have you done to yours? what power?

  17. Paul, Yeah it does seem like that's what he's done. The car is lifeless. Moonus, I checked the cat, the honeycomb thing is still intact but its just a standard hiflow one with 3" ends, maybe i should try metal cat. He said it's getting enough fuel, and we also got new spark plugs in there. but a colder 7 range. would that affect it? sounds like something is holding it back. The thing is if i get someone else to tune it, then i may have to fork out around $200 and what if the next tuner says the same thing or they can't find the problem. i don't mind paying $200 for a tune if the problem goes away or if they find the problem.
  18. Well on the road it pinged in first, but then i would back off straight away. It would ping in 2nd as well if i hammer it from 2nd gear. Pink around 5K -6K RPM. Dyno was in 4th gear and it pinged then. So frustrating. he detuned it to stop it from pinging. but it has affected the whole rev range
  19. Hey Moonus, Got splitfire coil packs in there. Car is not missing on the dyno. NAh Hitman didn't tune my car. he has tuned my car before when i had an safc. but took it to a different place as it was closer than penrith. WHy do you ask if it was matty?
  20. Hey Chunkylover, A few people have got good results with ex cam gear. Why did he say to check the cat? will the cat cause it to ping?
  21. MAte, if you got a choice go the split dump pipe. There will be less back pressure due to turbulence. I got a 3" straight. A few people have done back to back performance and noticed some improvement. i'm tossing up between ditching my front/dump pipe and going the split.. just don't know if the gain is worth the money. I guess it depends on your level of mods as well.
  22. Thanks mafia. Yeah it appears instead of just adjusting it up top when it is pinging he just retarded the whole thing so now the whole curve is just crap. Not too fussed about peak power, but the lowe end and midrange has been dropped as well which makes it not very fun to drive.
  23. Thanks Paul. would love to give this a go however now he has detuned it so it doesn't knock anymore. but now drives like crap. Also if i take it to another tuner could my previous tuner have locked the tune? how do i find out it the tune has been locked?
