  3. Might work. Just don't use a match to warm the hose up a little!
  4. OK Sydney is not real foggy....(but some of their drivers are)... when I have to take my pride anf joy out when all the mums are picking up kids from school (and not always looking where they are going) I hope that greater daytime visibility of fog lights (instead of volvo-esque headlights) might keep me from being hit by one of those bloody 4WD's. It's just a survical instinct. And, NO, I am not going to drive a Volvo. :Bang:
  5. My Series II R33 GTS25T has been tuned twice in the last 6 months (last time by CRD in Sydney) and continues to backfire (pop) on shifts of medium to high load. Mods are: K&N Pod filter (but previous high perf HKS airbox did it too) Upped boost (standard turbo) Std ECU and AFM 3" dump pipe Hi Flow cat Hi-flow 3.5" exhaust Platinum plugs All else stock. However from memory did not do this before fitment of dump pipe and larger cat. Methinks backfire is caused by unburnt fuel... maybe mix is too rich or exhaust flow too high for std setup. This has got me stumped. Just want to make sure that am not harming anything mechanical. ALSO, since fitting pod filter - there is noticeble lag/hesitation at around 2500-3000 rpm before turbo kicks in. Would fitting Pod filter upset state of tune? Any help greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a pretty common front bar (see pic) which has been damaged on the left hand side (mainly underneath). The guy I bought it from said it was a 'Nismo' bar - but I don't know if that is true. The bar had been split on the L/H upright and repaired prior to me purchasing it (a fibreglass back-fill job). However, a few bumps and scrapes (not all mine!) have resulted in it splitting (delaminating) and getting much worse. So now need a fix-up or replacement of the lower section. My questions are: 1. Where can I get a replacement bar (or pref lower section) as I have not been able to locate this style of bar. And are they bloody expensive as I have been warned? 2. Does anybody know a Sydney repairer that can make this as good as new and fix it so it does not fall to bits if it gets another slight bump? 3. Are there any special tricks or tips for the uninitiated? 4. Is this really a Nismo bar or was my leg being pulled? Would really appreciate your help as this is my first experience with body kits.
  7. On my R33 the slots machined into the surface of the disks are almost gone (esp the fronts). Does this mean the disks are at the end of their useful life? (car has done 60,000k) Or is it simply a matter of remachining?
  8. What difference does a braided line make over the standard? Surely it is more cosmetic than practical - another damn thing to polish.
  9. I'm insured with Famous Classic Car Insurance out of WA. Deal seemed OK. Car garaged and in a relatively low risk Sydney suburb (2090). All done over the phone - not too many questions - not fazed by imports and understand mods. Carried over 60% NCB from NRMA - thanks NRMA - wouldn't touch my R33 GTST - even with faultless history over last 14 years. TYPE: Comprehensive COST: $1200 p.a. for 'mature' driver (48 years old). DOWNSIDE: Say bye bye to NCB if you are at fault twice in one year. (with NRMA had guaranteed NCB). $1000 excess plus $1000 excess if stolen. Also are registered offshore (Guernsey) so hope the MD doesn't do a runner. Overall helpful and don't talk down to you or treat you like an alien.
