  1. Despite the pessimistic view that I usually hold in terms of import car dealerships (and most people within them), I can understand where you are coming from Joe. The amount of variables that exist within the car import industry is astounding and the way that the industry conducts business can be thought of as somewhat market failure because of the few engaging in illegal activity that would cause the industry average price to decline and leave legitimate dealers with an ethical dilemma in mind: go broke (and close down) or engage in this activity (that everyone is getting away with) to continue operations. Unfortunately most have chosen the latter that has caused this vicious cycle. Externally, one of the main problems (and conversely solution) is the ignorance that can plague the consumer. It happens when even true car enthusiasts personally 'hate' the dealerships and spend all their time cussing and posting on forums (which personally, I have no problem with because it creates awareness for the unsuspecting people who get duped by some of these dealerships, that I really feel sorry for) when really, the energy and blame should be directed towards the ones who are truly accountable for this: the Government. The government should have already intervened, tightened up the laws and made huge crackdowns rescuing the industry before this entire mess blew out of control as it has now. Unfortunately, with the announcement of the recent supposed 'crackdown' it is all too late. If we think about this for a moment, if the Gov does knuckle down firmly on the dealerships and they do begin to conduct legitimate business conduct, it would be fair to assume that the average price of the vehicles will be raised. This will further affect the industry by decreasing the demand for vehicles from dealerships that already have somewhat inflated prices as opposed to the now flooded private market. In other words (in my opinion) the industry is f#cked in terms of profitability in the future if the government does tighten down firmly due to the further expenses coupled with the less demand from a rising price (and this is having all else equal – we don’t even have to look at the current rising property/leasing prices). Who knows, maybe this is the reason why they haven’t touched the industry for so long? The flip side is that, if they decide to leave it the way it is, these business’ may continue to operate, but the consumer will continue to get ripped. Personally, I do not enjoy seeing any consumer being ripped off or any of the crap that goes around in this industry and would prefer the entire industry to collapse, but that could have negative impacts economically depending on the size and amount of employees within the import dealership industry ( I haven’t looked into it). As for you Joe, if you are being legitimate which it does seem that you are (I honestly have not read much on here lately nor know much about your previous business), it seems as if you are at a cross roads in your life and it would benefit you to take some time off and re assess as you have said. Is there any other industry or skills that you are interested in or have previously been a part of? I don’t know how long you have been in the game or what you did in the younger days but it may be time to look at walking away and looking at new/different ventures in a different industry. Anyway just my 2c, I hope that my opinion has made sense for both sides of the argument.
  2. Congrats mate atleast they found yours its been 2 weeks now and they haven't been able to give me anything. Gutted, cancelling the rego tomorrow to atleast get some money back.
  3. Care to elaborate bakemono? pm me if you like/pm me a link to more info about alarms etc
  4. Sh[t go mate.. worst feeling when your walking upto where its supposed to be and its gone.. I walked out this morning and my lancer gsr daily was gone(hurstville area) walked up and down my street about 10 times to make sure I hadnt gone insane.. ent up walking to the station whilst calling to report it..only had third party on it as well so im completely out of pocket.. did you have an alarm system or anything on it? I'm trying to figure out what alarm/GPS system to spend 1-1.5k on when my evo from Japan gets here.. I'm interested in this CCTV footage as I live close to a whole street of shops which I think would have cameras.. might have to inquire about it any way to go about it? just call up quote my number and ask? What else gets to me that it must be one or two/handful of large rings operating here in Sydney so at the least if the police could look at some CCTV around the area and surrounding times in different spots to when it got stolen they may be able to identify a lead and follow it up and smash some of these send a clear message out because lately cars are getting taken left right and centre and thieves are having a field day and its us,the motoring enthusiasts who are out of pocket because of it..
  5. Haha Terry, I knew that my clarity at 3 am wasnt going to do me any good. I understood that it was the Airtek, my enthusiasm must have made it out as if I thought it was the evo. Although I'm not directly interested in the Airtrek, I just think its awesome when we get something in our favour as opposed to not having it at all. We have enough beautiful cars that are restricted for Australian road use/importing. One less unrestricted, one better for the Japanese car community and enthusiast in general here in Australia..
  6. Wow! as I was progressing through this thread I definitely did not expect to read a post like yours Terry. Just awesome.
  7. Put it on carsales, you will have a much greater chance of selling this man.. Thank me when it sells within the first few weeks of being on car sales!
  8. Paid 782 last week.... all up was around 1,200 with rego etc, looking at how it was 10 years ago how long until were paying 2k for a years rego in NSW, it has become ridiculous. Anyone know how much the fees are compared to places like Canberra, Melbourne etc?
  9. X2 on this, I guess the good price on this S3 GTR, reflects the inflation we have in Sydney, when we get boy racers trying to sell shit boxes for around that mark.
  10. I dont think they were trying to have a stab at you mate, rather help you out and encourage you to keep your head up throughout the sale, whilst implying evo 8's prices have been rising in Japan, which means they shouldn't be dropping at such a progressive rate here. Rust can be tricky sometimes and well concealed, I doubt they were saying yours is one of them, however they were supporting that fact by implying it is important to have any evo inspected professionally prior to the purchase, so both the buyer and seller are on the same page to aid in understanding and agreeing on anything that requires attention. Nonetheless, looks like a very clean example, goodluck with the sale and hang in there!
  11. Man that is nice.. where are the series 3 gtr's in NSW
  12. Hey guys have this lying around from an unfinished project, is brand new and never used. I purchased this off Vulture Motorsport, he sells some items in the registered sellers section here. I just want to get rid of it so the Price im after is $120 posted. PM me if your interested. Cheers, Bill
  13. How much are they asking for it?
  14. My 2c Buy a nice old ford on lpg for 2k or an excel or any shitter daily you can think of that you have checked out and is reliable, ignore status and all that immature crap associated whilst being on your p plates. Obey the road rules don't muck around, while your friends are having trouble with the cops and losing licenses (believe me you will see it) you just sit at home and save your money for when you come onto your full license and get something that is worth it. I rate dc2 type r's I always wanted one when I was on my P's however I never had enough money to ever buy one. After seeing two friends with dc2's lose their license for long periods of time, not to mention more people then I can count on two hands that I knew from back in school having lengthy suspensions it really is a good feeling when you go through your p plates with an unblemished record. Also knowing that you have gotten your full license early whilst the others who decided to spend a packet on non turbo fun cars are waiting an extra year or two to drive a turbo +. Not a good feeling because you are looking down upon them as if you are better but more of a proud feeling that you resisted all the immature stuff, held your patience and stuck to a nice daily to do what you have to do without any hassles. With how much the police are targeting p platers and even all license drivers now, especially in an import or 'tuner' car it seriously is not worth having a nice/fast car on your p's.. Unless your planning on doing the occasional track day but even then on the street where are you gonna go? 1st to 2nd and then quickly hit the breaks when you get to 60? I could do that in my Getz. Police are showing no mercy for p platers at the moment you just need one slip up and you could be looking at that car in the driveway for over 6 months, not to mention having to commute on trains and bus's wasting countless amounts of time dealing with our transportation system. Once again jut my 2c!
  15. Really? May I suggest you practise what you preach?Dont tell someone how to run their add? Says the guy who is telling someone how to sell their blown r32 GTR. I actually agreed with all your points in that thread too. Quiet hypocritical of you to take a stab at me like that when your actually doing that particular thing. I was actually just being curious because a friend of mine just bought a nice clean one with 135,xxx with logs for 13,500. We all know its a hard market at the moment just because I asked a question doesnt mean someone should personally attack me when they're doing the same thing that they are accusing me of doing. As for the pictures. Sometimes people post up half written ads or aren't sure on how to post up pics. I think it was once the person put up an add and I simply just said that if he could upload pictures it would benefit his add and sale in general greatly. How about you mind your own business and not tell other people what to post and what not to do? Cheers
  16. lol thats what they advertise for not what they get, how many kms? does it come with logs
  17. 16? I didnt think Type R's were worth so much? Can someone clarify for me
  18. Hows the interest going on this mate? I would of thought a weapon like this would have sold by now. Lots of time wasters?
