  12. could be a blocked cat converter/ exhaust, how old is the current one?
  13. Whenever i first start my r32 it runs rough (sounds like its dropped a cylinder) it only happens for about 1 minute max before it irons itself out and starts running smooth. any ideas?
  14. the dyno run that has been done (not tune just a power run) said AFR's sat on about 11:1 at full boost. Is this to rich? thanks for the info guys, i think a tune is first thing i should do.
  15. Ive just purchased an R32 gtst. It is the second one Ive owned, the first one was stock as a rock (exept small boost increase) My current one has full lenght 3" exhaust, hi-flow standard turbo, front mount, wolf ECU and 16 psi boost and makes 180rwkw. The thing is it doesnt seem much quicker than my old one. I was expecting to roll on boost in second gear and just start frying the tyres, but it just doesnt have the balls. I have been in another gtst with 220rwkw and it felt real fast. Is 40 extra kw that big of a difference?

  17. thanks for all the help guys. thinking about my budget i might as well stick with the rb20, i just didnt want to do the mods and have the bottom end shit itself. my motor has 115000kms on it and when i got the car it was boosting to 15psi so i thought the rings may/should be replaced. What i want from the car is a daily driver that can still manage consistent low 13s (and i do rack up the kms) Are these engines as bulletproof as everyone makes them out to be. I guess its all in the tuning. should i go for an aftermarket ecu straight up and save the hassel later? i dont want anything overly powerfull cause then the rest of the drive-line suffers (trans,diff,driveshafts,ect) just want to blow a v8 every now and then.
  18. Ive got a 32 gtst, and about 4-5 grand to spend on it. just wondering if the guys puttin big turbos on the rb20s are replacing piston rings (or pistons) when they do this? Beacause im thinking if i have to do rings/pistons, turbo, cooler, ecu, and fuel system would i be better off selling the engine and putting in the 2.5lt. or should i go rb30 bottom end with my rb20 head for the extra torque, does anyone know how much machining is involved in fitting the head and who does it (sydney area) just want to get as much feedback as i can before spending the dosh. anyone who has done mods on a similar budget let me know what you did and how it worked out. thanks

I have an r32 gtst with no side skirts. i see so many 32s with what looks like gtr skirts but no one can tell me wear to get some. i phoned a bodykit business that specialise in skylines and they told me the N1 skirts are not a straight fit, and to get the smaller (standard) ones that were optional on gtst's. But i want the bigger ones as i cant see them being to much of a drama to fit?? any info/ help on prices and locations in sydney would be appreciated.
  21. went to the street drags at wsid today, saw an r32 gtst run a 14.1 et. Had a talk to the owner and a look under the bonnet, found it was runnin stock turbo stock intercooler and stock exhaust apart from rear muffler. boost was 15psi. did it with a fair bit of wheel spin too. didnt get the drivers name but congrats, looks like theres heaps of potential for us 32 owners. exciting stuff. oh and there was also more than a few brand spankin 5.7L ss commodores running 16's ha ha...
  22. what ya pay for it? can you also tell me how it drives. interesting i thought the 2510 might be too small to make the power im after.. come on boost earlier though. let me know how you go also what other mods you did to support the turbo (fuel system ect)

Just wanted to know what size turbo you guys are using on rb20det. and where to get one (sydney) I want something that can support 200-220rwkw and is a straight bolt on, didnt want to spend much over $1000 so second hand might be the way to go. someone suggested the turbo off an rb25 but not sure its big enough (also wanted to stay away from ceramic wheel)
