  1. No, you can down shift without the clutch if you heel toe correctly and match the revs. The slight blip of the throttle counteracts the deceleration force to unload the dogs to allow it come out of gear. As you go through neutral, the throttle blip will speed up the gearbox internals to the same speed to allow them to engage without clunking, banging or simply not going in. The way a dog box work vs a synchro is very different. Power affects it slightly. More power means more force. More force means more output. More output means more speed. For example, at one power level i got 10kph/1000rpm in 1st gear. After adding 100awkw and changing nothing else, i get just over 12kph/1000rpm in 1st gear now. So it isnt a huge factor in terms of how it affects your speed. tyre size and final drive would make more noticeable differences.
  2. They are easy on the street. To be honest, they do take a week or two to adjust to the new style of changing gear and the change in speeds you get in each gear. If i push mine to 8000rpm my speedo just nudges 100kph in first gear! Power levels, final drives and tyre size do affect this. . Once you get the hang of no clutch, you will never want to go back a synchro box. You realise they are purely for comfort and that is it!

  4. Depends on what else is in your car, (or out of it) but usually a small whine can be heard with the helical, but you can still talk with normal voice levels to each other. Mine is full trim, with three fuel pumps and can just be heard with the radio off. Fuel pumps draw more "whats that noise?" from passengers than the box. If you wont fly down, i might have to drive up!

  6. Silly question, but has it been tuned on the e85 yet? The properties of e85 and 98 are very different.
  7. I did a 12.8@110mph Struggled with getting off the line smoothly. I couldn't believe some of the things that were out, great night out.
  8. could be a different spring rate or something. you never know your luck in the big city. what type of hks coilovers were they? they could be a progressive spring style.

  10. Yeah mine had a few extra problems, I also will use them as my point of call for any work. Simon at morpowa also does a damn good job tuning.
  11. I have my 32gtr there at the moment. I did big end plus a few other parts are getting done. Tyson and Phil have been helping me with it all. I got recommended to see Tyson. I would recommend anyone to him and jms. They take the time to explain things and help you achieve the most working on a budget! Very happy!

  14. Have a look at the owner, I've found it well tell you about the car and It's history. I was lucky when I bought my 32gtr as it was my bosses, had it 3 months now, best thing I ever did was buy a gtr. I was a euro man before, but couldn't resist finding out what all the hype was about.

  17. no nothing like that ha ha. its got some nice 18's on it. i bought it off my boss, he did all the mods and all the work was done by the right people so to speak. i wont do too much more with it, it's a very solid car.
  18. hi my names tom, i bought a 1989 r32 gtr about 2 months ago. this is my first nissan, ive always had bmw's (old ones) and been loving the change. im in adelaide by the way , but any pointers on these cars would be appreciated nice to meet you all
