  1. Car: Silver over Grey Series 2 R31 Skyline Silhouette sedan Year: 1988 Purchased: bout 18 months ago Km: 302000 Box: Manual Final Drive: 3.7:1 no mods as yet, but will come with time I am sure!
  2. I think its an absolutely shithouse idea!!! had betta never ****in well happen! it would b dangerous more than anything else on sunrise this morning they interviewed some bloke from one of the major transport departments I think and he said that it could never happen because cars are being exported overseas and in other countries they have higher limits It wouldnt stop people speeding, just give them another excuse to use to try and get out of a penalty! I know for a while Holden have only had a 220km/h speedo fitted to the dash, but on entering diagnostic mode on the trip computer a digital speedo can be shown which is calibrated to read up to 298 km/h yet again the bloody government want to waste taxpayers money on a shithouse idea that has no benefit to anyone but themselves! and I bet they wouldnt stick by it anyways after seeing that Richard Butler (former Tas Govener) was given a police escort down one of Hobart's major highways at over 150km/h, with cop cars behind and in front straddling 2 lanes to stop papparazzi getting photos inside his Merc! that sort of shit really pisses me off!!! if it was any other driver they would cop a huge fine and loss of demerit points and or their licence for travelling at those speeds!

poor Jim! and Stevo, and skippy of corse last time I saw a roo cleaned up I was in my Grandads old Holden HQ premier, he was doin bout 100km/h and the only damage to the premier was a few broken grille bars, the roo didnt move! Glad 2 c the best marque on the track won yet again!!! Greg Murphy U ****ING LEGEND!!! I dont believe that Kelly deserved the win, now anyways after the incident at the indy a few weeks ago, tho I thort he did well in bathurst! gotta feel sorry for Seto tho! perhaps if he saw the light and drove a Holden one year he might win the thing? he hasnt had any luck in 20 years or so with Ford!
  4. I didnt know that! I thought the only time the RB30E had been released with a turbo from the factory was in hte mighty VL commodore from late in 1986 to about november 1988, im not certain on the release date of the turbo was good for 150kw, had problems in some cases though, as the RB30E was mounted higher in the engine bay in the VL as opposed to the R31 and as a result they had a lot of head problems and also there was no room to fit an intercooler which could have lessened these problems. the VL usually came standard with 3.45:1 diff gears, non LSD I think, and the MF5 manual or Jatco auto on the non turbo and 3.45:1 diff gears LSD and the tougher MF7 manual or a beefed up version of the Jatco auto on the turbo'd models. My father currently owns a non NSV 1988 (horizontal tail lights) silhouette 5 speed, an absolue pleasure to drive, but for some reason it is fitted with the standard GX- GXE dash (no voltmeter or oil pressure guage, a few less warning lights) but still has all the wheels, interior fittings, body moulds, bodykit and silhouette on the original rego papers and build plate? We are still trying to work out why the standard lower spec dash is fitted, any help much appreciated cheers Jacko
  5. Yes I did know that mate, actually I think that one of those was the state's last "official pursuit car, now they only use standard vehicles with slight suspension mods for all duties and pursuit work. Im not sure on specifics but I think they had about 200kw from the RB30E, not sure bout much else, sorry I cant b more helpful cheers Jacko
  6. Year :86-91 Model designation: R31 Engine : RB30E Engine type : SOHC I6 Engine capacity : 2962cc Ignition : electronic 4 speed Jatco overdrive auto and 5 speed MF5 manual transmission Body type : sedan, wagon and (import only I believe- coupe?) stovetop lights? : 1988-1991, first series had 4 horizontal lights, 2 each side split with a plastic panel
  7. Wish List: R31 silhouette or silhouette GTS, manual then probably modify the RB30ET for even greater strength and reliability fit RB25DET twin cam head (making motor RB30DET), I believe this is a simple modification because there is only one hole that needs drilling for the idler pulley, the boss for which is already in the top of the RB30 motor? if it isnt the RB25DET head that allows this can somone please tell me the head from which motor allows this? Re- routed air intake, cover up original hole in front of airbox and run pipe out of a hole drilled in bottom of airbox to the air intake low in the grille and fit K&N filter, or fit pod filter extractors and twin full exhaust T06 Turbo and air- air intercooler larger injectors improved clutch and strenggthened gearbox then probably a set of 18 or 19in mags sticky rubber full Clarion, Alpine or Pioneer stereo (I dont believe in hybrid audio systems wherever possible) Momo wheel, gearknob and probably full Recaro interior then drive and enjoy it until the bug bites again!
