  1. Those numbers are definitely too big to be -9s. They are GT2859Rs, so 59 exducer (and around 44mm in) from memory. I would expect those numbers to be more like what you would see on a -5
  2. Very nice power but I am so far fairly disappointed with the lag, feeling reasonable considering how late the turbo comes on is more of a credit to the rest of the setup in spite of as opposed to thanks to the turbo. Unless there is a setup issue responsible of course, that is definitely laggier than just would have expected!
  3. The GTX are definitely quieter, that was part of the intention behind the design - its probably why you have things out there like the FP and PT turbos which (arguably) flow more mm per mm of wheel area... due to just trying to make spool and flow
  4. Very nice - is this on petrol? How is spool?
  5. Awesome, good luck - keen to see more potent RB25 action.... one of a few very nice RB25 setups coming through
  6. I am sure I can think of ways to improve on that
  7. Yep I remember that, a mate of mine did similar - well more the doing mid 10s and 400kw on a stock motor (with just pump gas, no nitrous oxide, I must add) thing that the crowing and being banned thing This car has flawless victory, however:
  8. In most cases when raving about turbocharged stock motor power numbers cams have been accepted as an acceptable upgrade. The turbo itself will have a much bigger affect on airflow and power levels and no one raises an eyebrow at that one. What the bottom end has held together for is the magic, for me Especially if not a nuke...
  9. A bit surprised it doesn't seem that responsive, though 6000rpm and no VCT will be keeping it from sharing its best - as you indicate. Hopefully with more rpm, more boost, and it's proper cam timing in effect it will become a different beast And awesome to hear it has had a bit of an outing, well promising!
  10. Oh dammit, I had assumed it was a mostly fresh build. Back to my initial sentiment, I hope it isn't a major - this is probably my favourite GTS25t build I've caught wind of and is going to be a potent race car when it's sorted, so close!
  11. Isn't the turbo a 2530 (as in HKS GT2530)? Not the engine...
  12. If it's all pretty new I'd expect it shouldn't be on your head (or hurt your pocket/timeline), anyway
  13. Damn. Hope they can give an explanation or sort it out for you! It's overdue to turn a wheel in anger....
  14. Depends on how well you can drive and how the car puts it's power down - as soon as you are past 5000rpm in first gear the -5 car should match or out accelerate the -9s equivalent at all points. Cars that are quicker over the full 1/4 are practically always quicker over the 1/8th too - if they aren't, they're doing it wrong and should be able to do much quicker 1/4 mile times if they sort their stuff out. So yeah, IMHO -5s SHOULD be quicker over the -9s, even on the 1/8th - if it isn't, driver mod or the rest of the car setup needs to be improved. -9s will be easier to drive though, but the potential with the -5s is clearly higher.
  15. I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, I am totally pro twinscroll and have had some decent sized rants on here about it... I guess I shouldn't be shocked that you would assume otherwise. What I wad saying is my average single scroll setup performed at least as well as you were saying a good twin scroll setup would, which meant I figure your expectations are quite conservative. I am totally unconvinced on VGT on spark ignition cars at the moment. Was just chatting about this with a mate who works with Euro cats, even the new Porsche GT2s which 'have it sorted' are already coming in with busted turbos.
  16. Any luck in getting the ECU to co-operate? What kind of ECU is it, I have in my head that it was a Haltech?
  17. Crap - that sucks, good luck getting that sorted out!
  18. I've managed to last around 3 weeks without annoying you How are things going with this, did it make it to the tuner - or are there still plans to get it back on the dyno sometime soon?
  19. Spool should be only part of the improvement
  20. Really? Define "much"? I used to only down shift at 90-100kph with mine if I really wanted to get the hell out of dodge with an open .82 GT3076R, and it would be sufficient acceleration to be done for "excessive". Hell, from 100kph in 5th it was more than enough for most situations. Fwiw I used to start making boost from 2000rpm with little effort, even if far from "full" boost. 3-4psi at 2500rpm was typical. Imagine something like a 1.01 TS VBand housing on a GT3076R HTA on a built RB? 1.4bar near 3500rpm? I want one, immediately.
  21. For AGES it was a popular and good club (been running since pre-2000 as a club), it's turned to shit over recent years though. Still a few good people lurking on it, but you find a lot of the kiwis come here now
  22. Mat didn't know anything about it, I was just being a twat looking for dodgy mods. It was from a thread I happened across a few years ago where someone announced that they had done some neat tricks to improve the performance of their turbo and posted the pic of "bits" soldered/welded to the compressor wheels. It's up there with some of the interesting implementations of Somender Singh's combustion chamber grooves I've seen out there, angle grinder + head = win?
  23. +1 Also good to hear that some of the drag results being off par for the dyno figures are now explainable, ideal result really! See, us folks who are saying things to the effect of "the strip results don't match the dyno results, something isn't right" aren't being haters at all - it is merely pointing out that one way or another there should be more performance to be had and something probably needs to be sorted. Cheers for updating the thread with progress - that is what really helps these threads be genuinely informative, and nice work!
