  1. Dropped everything in Australia and came to Tokyo about 10 months ago. Now working in IT for the Swiss Bank. Came here cause in Aus the money wasn`t comming to me, so I decided to go to the money. Also, had the interest in Japanese cars, studied some Japanese at Uni, etc etc. Don`t know how much longer I will be here. Job is really good...prob another 1-2 years more max though. Miss clean air, family and my S15 way too much.
  2. I am in the same situation now as well. I was originally thinking about getting an R34 GTR but am not so sure now. There are so many nice european cars here that I am starting to sway that way. The price is at least 30-40% cheaper then back at home. Also here you get really rare ones you could never dream of getting in Austrlia. Thinking about an M3 or 911. hmmmmmmmmm
  3. Hey mate. I am currently living in Tokyo and came here a bit over 3 months ago on a working holiday visa. Like Rezz was saying, no one actually moves around every 3 months, that is a little unrealistic. That sort of stuff is just written there really for the sake of it (to make immigation seem like they are doing a good job) and unless you did something kinda messed up over here you will be right living in the same place the whole time. With that said however, I reckon that if you got into trouble for something else over here, they would then use it to ream you up the ass even further. My main advice for comming over here man is to make sure you have a healthy bank account before comming. I have blown well well over 10K since getting here just on living expences so just be aware of that. As for work, if you have a university degree it will be a piece of cake. With a degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience I know of jobs that will pay anything between 60k-150k in the first year. You really just have to be very motivated and start knocking on doors as soon as you arrive. Do you have a degree? What kind of work experience backround do you have? What are your Japanese skills like? In all honesty, if you don`t have a degree will be an uphill battle, but not impossible. It will reallly depend on your personality. Actually getting back to the visa situation, if you get a (career type) job (which you will need a degree for) you wont even have to worry about the visa thing because most companies will be able to sponsor you anyway with a relevant working visa. That is what is happening with me anyway. If you have any questions, don`t hesitate to PM me. Whether you are going to be able to survive here or not really will depend on you. Despite what a lot of people think it is a very tough environment here (in Tokyo) especially if you are chasing carreer goals and not just a good time. Good Luck!
  4. The textbook I used was called "Japanese for Everyone." If you can master all the concepts in there you will be well on your way.
  5. According to my last phone conversation the money was going to be refunded. That has not happened. I must have gone back and forth with these guys at least 6-7 times. There is no communication problem, it is just a simple fact that I am just a small customer so they couldn't be bothered giving me proper service. Being too busy to deal with your customers just doesn't cut it with me I am affraid. If you are too busy then hire more staff. Anyway, enough said. They have one more week before I will be taking further action.
  6. If they are such great guys then why am I still waiting on my credit card to be refunded on an order that they stuffed up over three months ago. To cut a long story short, I puchased a product but they sent me the wrong one (wasn't for my model). They told me to send it back because they would order the right one. After a month of hearing nothing I contacted them and they said you can no longer get them (which I found out is BS after doing my own invesitgations). They agreed to refund me a month ago but I am still waiting......no money and no response to my emails. Maybe they are good if you own a skyline and you go there in person, but I could NEVER recommend buying something from them via mail order.
  7. The previous statement about not all them having BB turbos is simply not true. Don't know where that information came from. I should know, I drive one. Anyway, yeah S15 are capable of making good power with relatively little $ investment. The big problem is though, once you get up to around 200rwkw, you can pretty much start counting the days untill the gearbox goes BANG! The gearbox is really the only weak link in what is truely a great car.
  8. Mate, if you had a gts-t you wouldn't even bother chopping them.
  9. My S15 is a awesome fun but I drive around all day worrying when the gearbox is going to die. Really takes the shine off what could have been a brilliant car. Still I would take an S15 anyday over a car that is 15 years old, GTR or not.
  10. I saw this car in Surfers yesterday afternoon at about 4.45pm. It is a shame what some people will do to an R34. Completely over the top.....In my opinion anyway.
