12 should be ok , but there wont be that much more power than 10 . Id be more concerned about over boosting the ceramic turbine and damaging that that any issues with high intake temperatures due to the tiny intercooler
-
budget about 3k for a good workshop to do the conversion . being from wa I cant recomend any qld workshops but the ones that are reputable with skylines should have no problems . its not a difficult conversion although some parts can be hard or expensive to find from time to time .

Family car what would you get and why?
32vspecII replied to craz0's topic in General Automotive Discussion
we have a magna wagon , its not bad . particularly the awd . and if you so desire their are twin turbo kits making 600hp . -
its like an australian motor magazine reviewer once noted , the mx5 is great on those one day a months where you take it through some tight mountain road or even better to a twisty track meet , but then for the other 29 days of the month 18 year old girls in their barinas are blowing you away at the lights .......

what kind of engine management ?
-
about 250rwkw would be about the limit of the safc/sitc (ignition controller which you will also need) or emanage . But you wont shift properly because of the ignition timing interception . you can go for an autronic or motec full wire in ecu which can be made to work with the auto fairly well . however for the cost you could get a manual conversion and powerfc . in theory some other full wire in ecus could support the auto but I know cars that do run the autronic/motecs so its not just theory . and your auto will not support 280rwkw with a shift kit and cooler face it , if you want 280rwkw or more your gonna have to get a manual or mechanical autoconversion . sorry

thats gonna have to be one very twisty track , especially if it was an earlier mx5 with b6 1.6l there are 2 australian delivered turbo mx5 , there was a limited edition one a few years back which had an aftermarket gt25 setup done by mazda avaliable through them which put out 150ish kw and the more avaliable factory turbo of last year which only had 120ish kw . id imagine that 150kw one would not be to bad . and i dont mind the new front actually

your going to need some sort of engine management to see 200rwkw , the factory ecu will just run way to rich plus the fuel cut and speed cut issues . I would get powerfc $1100 + $350 tune fmic $1200 supplied and fitted exhaust $1000 supplied and fitted (3" turbo back with new front/dump pipe, cat, muffler in mild steel) boost controller $500 (avcr) this should hit 200rwkw then you need z32 afm fuel pump injectors and a new turbo , gcg hiflow ($1800) would give you approx 250rwkw . Some sort of GT30ish turbo with custom manifold and external gate would see 300-320 . possibly more but 300rwkw would be the limits of the internals anyway . someone on this forum made 320rwkw with 750nm of torque off a similar gt30 setup , dont know if he had cams or not . 300rwkw should see very low 12s , possibly very high 11s .

I couldnt find anywhere on imports 101 site about having to wait up to 10 months for your car to arive ....... autoworx are top guys and will offer competitive prices on r34s . but they have been in the process or getting their r34 approval for the last year so who knows when they will actually have it .

cant you say gay ?

if you are serious , manual conversion plug in ecu's will not work with the auto . the auto retains some limited drivability but its very poor interceptors (safc/emanage) will work however by changing the load information going to the ECU auto operation will also change . full wire in ecus like motec and autronic should work with the auto if you the installer knows what they are doing but the cost of these units is large and you could get a manual conversion and power fc for the price and have better results with a much stronger gearbox than the auto for future upgrades .

i get 450-480 per tank on an rb25

only sedan sII has battery in the bay

"The Dash is Series II although its missing a passenger airbag. Series 1.5's have a passenger airbag. " that dash was the same as my 95 gtst and it doesnt have a air bag . I dont think all 1.5s have a passanger airbag .
-
vh45de conversion . your looking at rb30/26 conversion anyway so your ok with dumping the engine . that would be something much more unique and something you could be proud of . should easily see 250rwkw with some basic mods .

your milage may vary . My auto has changed operation slightly since just upping the power with the stock ecu . It kicks down to frequently , is harder to hold gear and changes late . Obviously if you change the load that goes into it its going to operate differently . It could also vary on the condition of the gearbox , my old 100k r33 slushy might no longer be in very good nick compared to a newer and tougher designed r34 triptronic . however people drive around with crazy shift kits in their auto and live with it so its still a viable option for some extra power .
-
if its got mag wheels id definetly look at the alignment balance thing , my cheap mags have a bit of vibration no problems with the stock ones , ill have to look into the alligners thing . The vibration will be at different speeds depending on the geometry of the car , up a hill , coming off an onramp etc . but mine isnt to bad and "shocking" makes me a bit weary . take it to a tyre/suspension place , get them to balance/align the wheels and see what its like after . $250-400 for the front bar . rac are totally useless , you might as well set the cash on fire . Take it a reputable workshop that knows skylines it wont be much more and they know what they are doing . theres a huge thread right here in workshops so take your pick from there .
