I chucked the toys out of the cot and sold it. There was two very different oil levels that I was told to run.
Aside from that, the OS88 is a very “dumb” gearbox. It has no gear position sensor, it only has a switch for the gear position display. It doesn’t come with a strain gauge and somehow they want to charge $23k for a brand new one. 👀. I have also seen a few bust with sub 500 kw too so I would take the 1500 Hp claim with a grain of salt. The length of the throw to change gears feels very long once you add a strain gauge. As a comparison, the ppg feels about half the distance.

Put the PPG in the car and haven’t looked back. I would not recommend the OS88 with the amount of other options around today even if you did find one for a discounted price.

I wouldn't recommend a PPG or having to deal with them to my worst enemy :(

Can’t link it but it’s in the GTR owners Australia page, just search posts about block brace. Look for the post with over 100 comments.
here’s a snippet, but there is a lot of back/fourth between Maatouk, McDonnell and Herman. Great read

I'd agree with Peter in the attached screenshot, track work (not straight line stuff only) puts a lot of pressure on different components.

Do Maatouks have any 2.6l N1 builds that do track work?

Yes all good - the only way for me to know is swap to a GTX3582 or 6466, perhaps 6870 to compare.  A fair bit of money just to experiment though,  and then - will I miss how it drives...?     that said the 8474 is noticeably lazy compared to the 8374 for just an inducer change.  Its not the "same down low but more up top" the internet seems to suggest.

Yes, yes... Come to the dark side

Case on its way for Anodizing and things are moving.

At end of the day - do I really need a Albins, Samsonas, Hollinger etc?  No.

Car has never seen a track day, drags, etc.  Occasional street driving, cruzin, etc - and back in the garage.

Its way over kill for what I will ever need - but - hoping I will never have box issues again (at least not for a very long time).

I am setting up the internal oiling system on the Albins to run to a rear diff cooler (Z Tune style)....  again huge overkill for me - but fark it ;) will be functional and look amazing.  I have also slightly tweaked the shifter /strain gauge setup/look to what's offered standard.

Adding a new Motec ecu and c1212 dash etc. when the box goes in.  (thanks to Moray lol).

Ill just chill and wait - I'm sure this box will be more than I ever expected or needed! lol

    Its a investment (that's what I tell myself so I don't cry) ;)

    Dan

Is the case the issue, because that's not made by Albins, I figured Albins is the hold up?

Am also intrigued in the Albins v Samsonas debate. Seems most time attack / circuit cars are running Albins and many drag cars run Samsonas. Anyone with any decent ideas / info on why?

I know Albins offer things like quick drop change of gearsets, but am wondering why the split and if there’s any data based reasons.

The Albins has an internal oil pump so may help for circuit cooling but they appear to be similar. I think B2R are putting the Albins in some decent powered straight line cars at the moment

Yeh I sort of expect to, which is why I want to get it right. However there are a few cars in Racer that are going under the 60.0 bracket, none of them are dry sump (Laine and Simon are the two that come to mind, though perhaps I'm forgetting if Simon has gone dry sump - I'm quite sure he hasn't) and not having crazy oil control issues. So I'm sure it can be done.

Oil accumulator I am sort of planning on. Perhaps not initially, but I do feel it is affordable insurance, so I think it will happen.

I don't have a dry sump but I probably should. If I cared more about the engine I probably would but it's a bottom of the ocean junker so it's not a huge concern. I get some concerns with pressure, it always stays above 50psi so at least there is oil there.

If you're building a serious time attack car go dry sump and don't stuff around ever again with it.

Is it too soon to bring up dry sumps being a stuff around in the first place :P

Well I have been massively held up by suppliers - mine should have been ready 6 months ago - but its gone around in circles and frankly hasn't been a good experience.    No point dwelling on that though.

That said - things are FINALLY coming together and so I hope to have mine going sometime in early/mid Feb.  There is still a bit to do.

It will be 3.2L Nitto, 8474 / 1.05,  Kelford 272 10.8mm/Beehives/Ti Retainers , Light head work with 1mm oversize valves,  Dry Sump.

(the old motor was 3.0L, 8374 / 1.05 (previously 0.92 IWG), HKS 264 10mm, 9L Wet sump with various breathing mods etc.)

Don't expect more than 530-550kW at hubs at 25psi - but hoping for strong delivery from 3500 through to 7500rpm.   May need a cam change to help - we will see.     And I guess we are going to see what eMAP we get.  I'm hopeful it will remain under 1.5:1 and I'll be happy with that.

Please, could you all take moment to close your eyes and think happy thoughts for my Syncro PPG gearset.

Firstly why don't you spend a bit more coin you rich mother f**ker ?

Secondly, start talking about the real race car not the silly GTR

I haven't been on the forum much in a long time - but look what turned up in the post today...  courtesy Geoff Raicer (thanks again mate).   Just came by to see what the latest results were..

I'll be doing a direct one to one comparison of this vs my current 8374 when the time comes.

    Hi all,

Back again and had the car on the dyno on Monday with the only change being the 600x300x100 cooling pro intercooler.

Compressor seemed to run out of puff at 26psi and tapered off to 25psi by the end of the run which was a bit disappointing. Saw a bit of wheel spin on this run as you can see at the top.

For a $260 intercooler it made a pretty good difference.

Car is pretty incredible to drive, it has awesome low end torque and it quite responsive. Keen to test it out at roll racing in a couple of weeks.

I'd doubt the compressor is anywhere close to being out, mine is rated at less and puts out 200hp more. Just up the duty cycle top end.

I'd also comment that the graph looks extremely lazy. 85kw at 4000rpm is horrible. There is something not right there, does it still retain VCT?

Interesting!   I remember reading you tried the staggered inlet cam 182s?

Is the one you have now the first 260 you have tried and are you running suggested CLs?

Trying to wake my EFR up a bit earlier (260/10.25 Procams)  and tossing up between 182x or some 256 Reimax cams.

Which other cams did you try before if you do not mind me asking?

Staggered inlet were too big for my application (Precision 6262)

We started at centerlines they suggested, inlet got advanced a fair bit on the dyno. Exhaust stayed the same

    Which EFR?

Grex unknown exact specs but around 9.1 260 or 264, Tomei Poncam Type B 260, Tomei Poncam Type R 250 and the Kelford 182-S

    How they working for you?

I asked for a custom 260 and that's what they offered...still not sure.

Out of the 5 sets of cams I've tried they are equal best response.

On moderate boost levels they make the most power (but head is also now slightly ported), on high boost they make the most power (once again head is ported now).

Never apples with apples, but if I did it all over again, I'd be sticking with them

Both Tomei and Kelford quote net lift(Kelford)  and valve lift (Tomei) which is the same thing mate. ie Cam lift - clearance

Unfortunately no one quotes you the area under the mountain which is "secret" , unless you buy me the Kelford cam and i will measure it and tell you as I already have the Tomei and a few more.
