Also quite competitive around corners. Take a look at john richardsons r33 gtst. That thing shows up more fancied machinery regularly including lots of evos. Car set up and driving skill goes a long way.
where could i find his build man ?

Beat them at what ?? street, track, drags ?
Not really comparing apples with apples but your GTT is more than capable or at least very close to it and it all depends on budget. I don't have no ever driven a 4wd / awd car but from reading bang for your buck they are hard to beat so hazard a guess you'll have to spend 'more' on the gtt to be the same to compensate for 1) new tech and 2) rwd vs awd
There are a number of threads in the motorsport section and projects and builds section where specifically gtt's but other rwd skylines have been developed to the point where they'd match evo's and the like so take what you can from those also.
You have enough power so it comes down to :
Driver skills / seat time
Brakes
Suspension
Tyres
Weight
Work out your budget and get the 'best' you can get of each of those as you go and it'll go a long way to where you want to be
awesome man, looking more in the roll racing rather then track, driving an Evo before i definitely know that around a track they have the upper hand ! but down the straights they are still quite competitive @bcozican

to be honest Ive never had stock cams always had poncams straight off ... but if you look at all the results poncams on average increase your torque a bit and mid / top power a bit and move the curve to the right just a bit
I say bit ... because every car engine is a little different
Sorry don't know how to best do it 'legally' as Ive always had straight through pipes but Id say taking your muffler off is one of the least legal ways. By my thinking maybe just rotational Idle ... but it will just be dampened a bit compared to not running a muffler. Still get lumpy etc but nothing is actually illegal especially if you still come under the legal DB reading.
one of the end goals as well is trying to figure out ways these GTT skylines can beat your 280kw Evos, before i make a new thread any sort of suggestions ? i use to have an Evo and got the right offer for it so i chose to give a skyline a go but seems to struggle to beat 300kw Evos ?
thanks @bcozican

Sidepipe makes it louder and crisp but idle it idle if your going to run a muffler etc its always going to be toned down
Ive run 500-550 rwhp on rb25s with poncams both with and without springs. Mose well go springs if you can
what did you find the difference to be from stock cams to poncams ? and whats the most 'legal' looking way to get them to sound more aggressive, simply removing the muffler ?
thanks heaps

and with poncams are springs as necessary ?

Poncams will suit what you want performance wise then get your tuner to use rotational idle for lumpy lumpy sound
https://youtu.be/zAf5cOCdDX0
https://youtu.be/sSTdcBTuUOssounds nice ! but wouldn't that also be due to your side pipes that is quite loud ? @bcozican

I'm looking for both benefits, performance and the Brap brap, tuner has advised 272 Camtech - what performance differences would i see with the 272 as opposed to poncams ? @Dose Pipe Sutututu
-
whats the biggest bang for buck though between the 2 cams ? considering the expectations I am hoping to get
-
Chasing more mid range to top end power but yes your right I want the lumpy sound and not to sure if the 260 poncams would do it for me ?

PON CAMS V CAMTECH 272
Hey guys,
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction with either or link or shedding some light on my next modification. I am looking at purchasing Cams for my R34 GTT already pushing 330RWKW, can any one let me know what the cons and pros are going with Tomei drop ins 260 as oppose to the Camtech 272. My 34 has the following modifications:
1000cc Bosch Injectors
- Walbro 460 Fuel Pump
- Full Turbo Back Exhaust 3 inch
- Custom Dump pipe
- Garret 3076 Turbocharger
- Power FC ECU tuned on E85 ( UniGroup Tune)
- Greddy Electronic Boost Controller
- Tomei Head Gasket
- Screamer pipe
Would be good to get some ideas on what would be best for my setup and why as well as knowing which one would sound better on idle which is just a bonus. Thanks peeps.

white one just got sold today ! so grey one i will be looking at - sucks though
-
So birds, how many R34 gtrs have you owned, built or looked at buying... thanks for your valuable input.
Not the first time I have seen you open your mouth on forums without engaging your brain.
haha as true as it gets

I think you should stop being a low balling tight ass and sinista should stop being an unrealistic tight ass and let's make this thing happen
lol yep thanks mate ! i think he can get what he wants for what it is
-
That conversation has already been had
if i had the right amount for it he knows i would be there in a heart beat !

So look for one thats best bang for buck, so buy sinista's one HAHAHA
i was waiting for someone to say that hahaha !
-
rear diffuser , intake exhaust temps on the mfd the cluster looking a bit more tighter etc. I would also be concerned 140,000+ kms ( genuine or not ) is a 16 year old car many things will start needing to be fixed up but that just my opinion everyone is different i guess.
thanks for that mate ofcourse all is being considered - happy to see everyone elses input now i need to get as much opinion before i bring one back this saturday !!
-
^ i would look at getting a vspec at least
why is that ?
-
CESAR, white looks good with black windows and black tint. It will look tuff
been looking closely to the white - looks like thats the one i will pick up this weekend - would look mean
-
Needs more single.
Looks honest enough. Personally I don't like white 34's but if you do it could be a good thing. Would be worth having a look if its close to home. Not sure how much it would cost to ruin it with a single turbo, however.
looks better then the grey one but i will see both and see which one is better - and no lol i wouldnt single turbo it - i prefer to keep it twin just upgrade them later
-
so im going down to vic and checking this car out - as always looking on the market and this pops up
http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Nissan-Skyline-1999/AGC-AD-17199304/?Cr=0
suggestions ?
-
I believe the points I've made here are relevant rather than typical "twin is better than single cos there 2 of em brahh". Only two reasons one goes single turbo on a GTR.. that's if the engine went bang or the turbos themselves went bang. I'm no expert with skylines but i'm fairly sure there's a few kits out there direct aftermarket bolt on twins that don't sit up against the rocker cover. Anyway regarding the OP's first question that car is in doubt not worth flying a state away and back to see it, I mean come on man look at it.. swede / coon / tryhard / top bloke ect not to mention cop magnet and a stock motor with the hefty price tag of $43k.. surprised no one on here can call it not worth it compared to some others for another 3-5k?
price was negotiated with the one in vic to quite a reasonable price - have a few good mechanic friends up in vic who checked the car out for me all looks good - confirmed that the front has not been in an accident after thoroughly looking at it - still thinking of flying up since all seems well drives well and its stock which is what i initially was looking for - if theres some 3k more then point it my way and ill check it out asap !
lol other then that stil enjoying the single v twin discsussion
-
^well done, glad to know you're doing all your research beforehand
haha cheers mate - got a lot of help from some of the guys on the forum telling me small details to look out for and some inspection tips so thanks !!!!!
-
agreed - did bit of research ringing around again some friends from a workshop and 350kw on a stock engine and single turbo conversion could potentially cause future issues - have to look more into it though
