  6. Weekly Race 4 Real Report: August 23, 2017 Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why! Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week This orange EH Holden put on quite a show here at Sydney Dragway. If those plates and that cloud of tyre smoke are anything to go by, this EH is packing something far bigger under the bonnet than what it left the factory line with. It’s always great to see such well-kept classics strut their stuff at Race 4 Real. Top Japanese of the Week There’s no denying that the Datsun 1600 is an all-time favourite in the world of modified cars. Packing a tonne of potential in such a small, lightweight body, the Datsun 1600 can be easily take on newer competition with a bit of work. Take this white 1600 for example, which performed extremely well down the quarter-mile. If you look closely, you’ll spot a sneaky front mount intercooler, which should give you a good enough idea on how quick this little car really is. Top European of the Week The hot-hatch has come a long way since the term was first conceived. Long gone are the low-powered barebones hot-hatches of old and in their place, hi-tech supercar-eating super-hatches such as this Audi RS3. Capable of a pass well into the 11s in stock form, this RS3 is a force to be reckoned with. Top Rotary of the Week The FC3S RX-7 is arguably less common than its more curvaceous younger brother, so it’s always good to see them turn up for Race 4 Real. Looking fantastic in white, this RX-7 ran impressive times all night, buzzing down the quarter mile. Top Ford of the Week Quintessential 80’s Aussie motoring – that’s the XE Ford Falcon. This immaculate example definitely looked the part with its spectacularly kept factory two-tone paintjob as well as some rear-windshield venetians. With a bit of a power hike hinted by the twin air-cleaners poking out of the bonnet and the use of significantly fatter rubber on the rear tyres, this XE Falcon ran some impressive times. Commentator’s Pick of the Week Imagine seeing this monster in your rear view! That massive bonnet cowl is a pretty big hint of what this beast of a VZ Commodore is capable of with a stomp of the gas pedal. Running consistent 10.9’s all night, you wouldn’t want to be sitting next to this Commodore at the lights. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. Check our website for T&C’s and entry information. Stay tuned for our coverage of the August 30 Race 4 Real event! 7. Weekly Race 4 Real Report: August 16, 2017 Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why! Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week With an eye-catching lick of factory green paint and that massive hood cowl, this VE SS Commodore Ute looked the absolute business. Those plates were pretty fitting for this Ute if we do say so ourselves as it went like a bat out of hell down the strip. Top Japanese of the Week It’s evident that a lot of work has gone into this S15 Silvia to get it where it is today. Rocking a C-West widebody kit, a set of Work Meister SP1 wheels and painted in a custom shade of black, this S15 looked the business to say the least. The SR20 powerplant has also been treated to a substantial bump in power, helping send this Silvia down the quarter-mile with some impressive times, making it the ultimate S-Chassis package. Top European of the Week Those custom plates don’t lie! This MKVI Golf R kept it simple with a clean, black-on-white race-inspired theme going on. With its proven turbocharged AWD performance, the Golf R is a hot-hatch and a half and not to mention, an extremely formidable opponent on the quarter-mile. Top Ford of the Week Up the mighty Barra! Here at Sydney Dragway, we know exactly how much potential the Falcon XR6 Turbo possesses underneath its bonnet. This FG XR6 Turbo turned up sounding and looking absolutely menacing with its black-on-black look. A quick quarter-mile pass is pretty much a given with these turbocharged beasts, and this one was no different. Commentator’s Pick of the Week Everyone loves a well-sorted classic Datsun! It was great seeing this nicely-restored and tastefully modified Datsun 1200 giving its bigger competitors a run for their money. Props to the owner for keeping this beauty in such great condition. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. Check our website for T&C’s and entry information. Stay tuned for our coverage of the August 23 Race 4 Real event! 9. Weekly Race 4 Real Report: August 9, 2017 Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why! Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week A classic platform for modification, the Holden Gemini is often chosen by those looking for a bit of cheap fun, making for a pretty impressive and capable sleeper base. This particular Gemini packed some serious heat, managing a best run of 10.64 @ 135.29 MPH. Top Japanese of the Week We’re no stranger to the Lancer Evolution’s outstanding potential, especially out on the quarter mile. Packing fire-breathing turbocharged AWD performance, the Lancer Evolution is quick in just about any situation. Oozing tuning potential, the Lancer Evolution is easily capable of some impressive numbers. Take this white Evo VII for example, running a best time of 10.85 @ 137.67 MPH. Top European of the Week The Germans are arguably the masters of go-fast SUVs and this BMW X5 M showcases this perfectly, running a 11.50 @ 120.21 MPH quarter mile pass in stock form! Top Rotary of the Week Straying away from the usual candy paint and big rims, this immaculate Mazda RX3 buzzed down the quarter mile to a best time of 13.14 @ 121.25 MPH. Top Ford of the Week Back on the topic of go-fast SUVs, the Germans aren’t the only ones that know how to make the soccer mum’s vehicle of choice go like absolute stink. Ford’s turbocharged Barra-equipped Territory managed an impressive best time of 11.40 @ 125.06 MPH. Commentator’s Pick of the Week A unique take on the classic VK Commodore with that slick two-tone paintjob, this immaculate example of Aussie muscle roared down the quarter mile to a best run of 10.74 @ 122.60 MPH. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. 10. Sunday Street Meet at Sydney Dragway August 27, 2017 Are you keen to race your pride and joy, but can’t make it down on a Wednesday night? 11. Weekly Race 4 Real Report: August 2, 2017 Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why! Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week A piece of Australian motoring history, this FE Holden is the quintessential 50s hot rod. Featuring immaculate paint and bodywork, a roll cage and some serious horsepower, this timeless classic was right at home here at Sydney Dragway. Top Japanese of the Week The Nissan 200SX can be considered somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades kind of car. They look just at home sideways on the track or cruising the streets as they do running the quarter mile. Take this immaculate S14 for example. Thanks to some wide, grippy rubber fitted to the rears, launches with minimal wheel spin are made much easier, allowing this 200SX to achieve some pretty impressive quarter-mile times. Top European of the Week Being a car that was originally intended for tearing up sand dunes, the Volkswagen Buggy is definitely not something you see every day here at Sydney Dragway. Nevertheless, this yellow example managed an impressive best time of 15.40 @ 86.33 MPH, due in no small part of course to the Buggy being such a lightweight vehicle. Top Rotary of the Week The last and arguably the very best of the FD Mazda RX7, this Series 8 RX7 was something to behold. As clean as they come, this RX7 looked as it did from the assembly line bar a set of quality aftermarket wheels. Top Ford of the Week The Ford Mustang EcoBoost stirred up quite a bit of controversy when it was first announced with the idea of a turbo four-banger version of Ford’s iconic pony car having seemingly been unheard of. Since its release however, its proven itself to be quite the performer. Take this bright blue EcoBoost Mustang for instance, running a best time 15.20 @ 94.12 MPH, with plenty of room for more. Commentator’s Pick of the Week Definitely something you don’t see very often, this bright yellow Hillman Hunter was an interesting addition to this edition of Sydney Dragway’s Race 4 Real event. With a best run all the way into the 13s, we’re itching to know what’s sitting beneath the bonnet of this absolute sleeper. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. 15. Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why! Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week Standing out with that eye-popping Kermit green paintjob, this Monaro GTS had the show to match its go. And boy did it have go, knocking out a best time of 11.15 @ 121.99 MPH. Top Japanese of the Week Godzilla himself decided to make an appearance at last week Race 4 Real event. With not much else other than a nice set of aftermarket wheels and a lip kit all round, this white R35 GTR looked even more aggressive. We’re all aware of what the R35 GTR is capable of and this example showed off this potential in spades. Top European of the Week Building upon what made the 458 Italia such an incredible supercar, the 488 GTB is undoubtedly one of Ferrari’s greatest hits. Powered by a twin-turbo 3.9L V8, this masterpiece is capable of a mid-10 second quarter mile pass. It was great seeing this stunning machine down here at Sydney Dragway! Top Ford of the Week With the Mustang finally reaching Aussie shores, it’s fantastic to see how just how capable these beasts really are with a bit of work. Take this blue Mustang GT, running an incredible best time of 10.15 @ 135.55 MPH down the quarter mile. Commentator’s Pick of the Week We’re no stranger to fast Toranas here at Sydney Dragway and this immaculate blue LX Torana is certainly up there with the best of them, managing a best time of 10.34 @ 133.43 MPH. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM.
