So how do you like them? 😄

Apologies for the late reply. No problems with them so far. Of course, singles are a better option these days for outright performance, but I didn't want to lose the original form factor of the engine bay. I also wanted to continue bringing my car to a Nismo Performance Center without many complications.

I have yet to put the car on a dyno, but when I do I'll post the chart for everyone's enjoyment 😉

Boys boys, don’t believe that bullshit or the skewed vision to make yourself feel better about your purchase. They’re junk and not even equal to the old dash series of turbos from Garrett

My local tuner recommended the kit to me knowing that are many other healthy options. Due to my time constraints, I made the purchase.

  3. Thanks for the insight! I think you and I are similar in regards to bolt on options. There are better turbos out there in the form of a single, but I prefer to keep the form factor and appearance as close to stock as possible. Also, it's way easier to work with certain Japanese Nissan dealerships if things look mostly stock. A lot less questions asked and a lot less refusals to perform basic maintenance.

Sits somewhere between the GTIII-RS and GTIII-SS, one thing a dyno chart can't show you is the effect of bearing drag on transient response.

Are you testing these then? Or currently running them? I'm trying them out because they were easy to source while I'm living in Japan.  Going through an engine rebuild and I needed turbos rather quickly. We're either going to be these or the Tomei T550B kit

  5. I have for sell a twin turbo kit completely assembled and prepped by Spectrum Motorsport Solutions based out of Vancouver Canada. They are absolutely brand new and never fitted. The reason for the sell is due to receiving a great deal on a Nismo R3 turbo kit and I am a brand whore lol.

    Turbo Specs:

    Comp. - .42A/R Housing w/ 47mm Billet Compressor
Turbine. - .48A/R Housing w/ ported wastegate and 54/47mm RS Turbine wheel

The flow characteristics are very similar to the Garret GTX2860 , but with improved response on both ends.
Good for a reliable 600-650 hp build.

Hotside is ceramic coated and billet compressor housing inserts have been upgraded.

$2200 USD with shipping included anywhere in USA/Canada. Willing to ship internationally for an additional cost.

Not currently accepting offers. Thanks for looking!

How many KMs to its name? What's the interior condition like? Congrats on achieving a dream goal, looks awesome. How hard are these cars to come by in Japan, did you get it at one of the big electronic auction houses? Do you live near any mountain passes ;)

    Hi Agret,

It's anyone's guess as to how many miles this thing tuly has. Odometer is incorrect. Judging by its condition and the parts replaced by the previous owner, I'd say just over 100,000 km. Small work to be done on the exterior and interior but it's in good shape. I'm afraid the previous owner did cut corners with the interior but most of those issues have been corrected. Not hard to find one since it's JDM, but I would say it's moderately difficult to find one in impeccable condition. I purchased mine from a dealership in Kanagawa close to Tokyo. And yes, I do have small mountain passes in my area ?

Horses for courses really, as opinions and results are always going to vary. As mentioned there are far better options than the Nismo though. Using a clutch from a manufacturer that primarily only make clutches is generally a better bet.

Haysam is standing firm with his opinion that the Nissan input shaft will suffice for my application and goals. However, I'd like to future proof my vehicle whenever I can so I'll still opt for a new clutch and the larger shaft. Maybe even a carbon drive shaft now that I've fallen pretty deep into the rabbit hole. Thanks guys!

Primarily circuit work and 600hp at wheels, I'd be going with the straight cut dog engagement box with big input and billet centre plate. First gear synchro problems is generally an uncommon thing, and is usually caused by clutches not disengaging properly, causing synchro wear.

Definitely get a better clutch when you do your box if your Nismo isn't even a twin. Best bang for buck twin plate at the moment seem to be the current Xclutch range. Organic, ceramic, or even their carbons are very competitively priced at around $1500 -$2200 depending on spec.

I bang on about the ATS carbon triples being one of the best clutches I've ever seen and used and will always recommend them, but at over $5000 now their not exactly a practical solution for most people.

I'll admit that I inherited the synchro issue with the purchase of the vehicle and just never got around to correcting the issue until recently. I'd like to keep the synchro engagement while it's a daily driver to help save money (and now put the money towards a new clutch ?). And since I'm upgrading the clutch I'll also upgrade the shaft. Where did No doubt that a billet center plate will be installed as well. I'll make the jump to the dog engagement when it's time for circuit work.

    Thanks for your feedback!

600hp at wheels or estimated engine 600hp ? Big difference. It's up to you really. I don't rate Nismo clutches at all for other than street driving, so for a decent setup that might have any other use than street that would be the first thing I'd get rid of as there is much better clutches out there.

Do you need, or just want another gearbox ?

600ish hp to the wheels is desired, but I just used the figure to give everyone a general idea of how the car will be modified. My first gear synchro is starting to go bad and  I wanted to take advantage of the future transmission labour. At this moment the upgrade is a want, but the car will eventually be used for primarily circuit work which is why I think the PAR gearbox with 1st-4th syncromesh engagement is an excellent compromise. Especially with my current clutch and power level. But I also understand your reasoning and may opt for at least a twin plate from a reputable brand or what you recommended earlier in the thread.

You can get either Nissan 24 tooth 25.4mm or GM / Holinger 26 tooth 28.5mm input shaft splines, you specify when ordering. I upgraded to the 26 tooth, It's much beefier and really should be used instead of the Nissan spline.

How critical is the need to replace the Nissan shaft with a GM/Holinger?  It appears that I cannot swap the spline on my Nismo Copper mix clutch kit and I'd rather not have to purchase another kit. I don't intend on surpassing 600hp and PAR says that if I'm not chasing 1000hp I should be ok.

  11. Hello all. I've been a GTR owner for 1 year and I'm proud to be a part of the SAU community after only being an observer. I'm originally from the US but have been living in Japan for the past few years. Purchasing a GTR has been a goal of mine while living here since sourcing hard-to-find parts locally and from Australia is relatively easy compared to the US from my experience.

I've always favored the R33 styling over the other generations and I'm fortunate to have found a Series 3 with very little rust. My main goal is restoration/modernization instead of power upgrades while I continuing to learn the car and it's characteristics. I'm just fortunate enough to know that there are literally decades worth of discussions and data to sift through to expand my knowledge about this fantastic machine. I look forward to chatting with you all!
