  1. Just an update on this. Much more was wrong. Tuner messed up and set boost to 22psi and cut fuel like crazy working around the stuck injector. Something must have been wrong with my compression tester because I bought another one the next day and I had 50 or less psi on all cylinders except #3 and that's the one that had the stuck injector. Tore it down and pistons 1,4,5&6 had cracked ring lands. Almost finished rebuilding now with CP pistons and Manley rods though.
  2. A LOT has happened since my last update. Got the car back together in May of 22. Took it to get tuned, one of the injectors got stuck open at some point during a pull. Rather than see what may have happened for the tune to suddenly become rich between pulls, the tuner starts cutting fuel until he leans out the other 5 cylinders. Went ahead and did another pull and went to 22 psi on pump gas, cracked ringlands in 4 of 6 pistons and all of them except for the one with the stuck injector had detonation marks all over them. I found all this out after the fact. Tuner shut his shop down soon after, and blew a few other motors that same month. SO... tore it down in June. Ordered new CP 9:1 pistons, Manley H beam rods, ID1050x injectors. Sent the crank off to Countersteer to have it polished, balanced and have a crank collar put on. Upgraded to PRP crank collar and PRP oil pump gears. Had the head decked and refreshed. Repaired/Replaced strut towers, and painted the bay. Now we're just waiting for the block to get back from being honed, decked and cleaned, and then we can start putting her back together. I'm curious of what it will make now though... 3. So I bought another compression tester to double check. 150-160 on all 6.
  4. Changed oil, full of fuel. Did compression test and it looks bad. Cylinders 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 all had 80-90psi. Cylinder 3 had 155 psi. Will be doing a leak down test this weekend when I get back home. I'm guessing the tuner leaned out the other cylinders while that injector was dumping fuel into the cylinder.
  5. Hey everyone, So I just finished wrapping up a build on my R33. New turbo, injectors, exhaust mani, cut and shut intake, etc... We did some street tuning and overfilled the catch can. After cleaning up the mess we realized there was a lot of vapor coming the catch can breather. Checked the oil and it smells like fuel. I primed the fuel rail and there's a buzzing noise coming from the injector for cylinder 3. Cylinder 3 also smelled strongly like fuel when I removed the plugs. I'm assuming the injector got stuck open somehow, so I'm having them tested and cleaned. Going to compression test it in two days when I get back home. Assuming it tests well an, any thing else I should do before putting it back together and starting it back up once I get the injectors back?
  6. Lots of delays and incorrect parts shipped. But now she has a Radium fuel rail and 750cc Bosch injectors, so it's almost time to tune. Getting the downpipe fabricated the first weekend or May.
  7. It's about 2-3mm off, so VERY close. Can't clock the turbo anymore without the bolts touching.
  8. Starting to come together. Injectors showed up today, so I should have it all buttoned up this weekend and then tuning next.
  9. Been a while since I've updated, made some changes recently and have some new parts on the way! New wheels: SSR GTX04 in 18x9.5 +22 all around w/ Continental Extreme Contact in 255/35. Also installed the Nismo shaded side winkers, Nismo door handle protectors, Nismo old logo carbon fiber shift knob. Tinted the car as well, CPX 18% on sides and back and 40% on front. Full turbo back 3 inch stainless straight pipe, with screamer. NEW PARTS COMING: Pulsar GTX3076R Gen 2 CXRacing thick wall top mount manifold Tial 38mm wastegate
  10. Finished up the tuning today! She made 316hp / 283 ftlbs.
  11. Got the Haltech setup (platinum pro, wideband, boost solenoid), 750cc injectors, AEM 340lph fuel pump all installed. Started tuning and at around 4000RPM the clutch started slipping badly. Was making around 275HP when it started slipping. The OSGiken twin that came with the car probably took a lot of abuse in Japan, which explains why it was so hard for me to get use to. I've driven twin and triple plates before and never had an issue. https://photos.app.goo.gl/1GrhDr6ffKpDRMW7A New XClutch twin plate rated for 850ft/lbs is being put in tomorrow, and we will resume tuning on Tuesday. Should be plenty for my plans with the car. Will update with tuning results. Probably 290-310? Plan for early March 2021 or so is to go with a Precision 6062, 4inch stainless from turbo back. Hopefully live around 400-425HP for a bit and then late 2021 do metal head gasket and arp head studs.
  12. Thank! I actually have a German Shepherd and a Beligian Malinois, definitely a safe home! Yes, I'd never done it before so it's not perfect but neither is the rest of the car so it kind of fits? lol. Need to wetsand it. Eventually I'll have the whole car repainted in QM1 again but that's after the go fast bits I was actually going to do that but I ran out of time, big care show this weekend that I needed to have the bumper finished for. Thanks!
  13. When in doubt, self tapper. I'll figure out a way to properly repair it soon but I just needed a solution before this weekend.
  14. Took me a while but I did it all myself, and I've never done any sort of body work. It's not perfect. I'll definitely be redoing it when it gets a little cooler outside. But here it is! Also, going to have to trim the turn signal housings a bit, they won't fit in the bumper/bar because of my FMIC. That's a project for another week.
  15. Finally got around to repairing and painting the type M front bumper I bought, was putting it on tonight and there seems to be a few issues. The drivers side fits really well, but the passenger side has a pretty big gap below the headlight. The passenger side front fender was a little tweaked where the bumper bolts so I got that straightened back out but that didn't help the fitment under the headlight at all. Could I use some shims to raise the bumper up a bit and get it to fit better? Also, thanks to my HPI front mount, my turn signals don't sit all the way in the bumper so I'll need to figure that out. Probably need to cut them and then plastic weld a piece in to reseal them.
  16. There no telling how long mine was doing it before I bought it. Felt fine to me before I got rid of it but the guy I had look at the car was really persuasive about it being an issue. I miss the sound so I'll probably go ahead and block the pipe off again. There was a coke cap in there, I'll just shove it back in and send it.
  17. When I imported my R33 it had some turbo flutter. I always loved that sound and associated it with Skylines. I took the car to a shop, they looked it over, and one of their biggest recommendations was to take the block off the blow off and stop it from making the noise. We did so, car feels "better" but I think that's because the car was also just running on wastegate pressure and now it isn't. I'm just trying to get a consensus of how bad this is for the turbo? Seems like every video I watch has opposing opinions. Can't get a solid answer. Motive says one thing, TRC says another, MCM says something else, MCM2 says another. If it's not going to kill the turbo I'm going to bring back the dose. If it is then I'll stick with the pshhh instead. I'm just totally new to turbo cars. I'm happy either direction, but somewhere deep in my soul I'm itching for that sweet stututu. Video is the day I brought the car home, and how it sounded then. video0.mp4
  18. ok, I'll shoot grab some pics of it tomorrow morning!
  19. No, didn't grab any. I have it all as one piece though if taking a pic of that would help you?
  20. So, I got a brand new Haltech Platinum Pro, Haltech wide band, and Haltech boost solenoid at a steal. I know I'll need them next year when I start really building the car, but are there any benefits on an otherwise stock motor, stock turbo, stock fuel system car that would make it worth installing now?
  21. Replaced my stock clutch fan today, and deleted the carbon canister. The stock fan, as you can see in the picture, had 4 big cracks and spider web cracks as well. Replaced it with a GK Tech fan. The vacuum lines going to the carbon canister were cracked and brittle. I was getting some breaking up past 4500-5000 RPM (I'm guessing since my tach once again doesn't work unless it wants to). After I deleted it and all the lines, it now pulls smoothly all the way up to roughly 7000 RPM. Hopefully getting the Type M bumper I bought with that front cut repaired and painted in the next weekend or two. Can't wait to get it on the car, although I'm pretty sure I'll have to raise the front a little bit.
  22. So, I deleted the muffler. Got a local shop, Countersteer, to make a straight pipe for it. 3in to 4in out the back. Looks really nice, sounds amazing. Also, got the AC working again. Ended up having to replace the compressor.
  23. It's a pretty rare factory option. I've been trying to buy one but for what they cost ($1000+ USD) I'm just going to make my own.
