  1. Hi guys, Dose anyone here have experience with Mitsubishi nav/tv systems? I need help determining the pin-outs on a TV/nav system I just bought at a second-hand store, Its a model TV-5760W Television/display unit and a CU-5900 Nav unit, and I'd at least like the get the CD/TV functions working. I beleve it came from a gray import RVR or similar vehicle since I can't find any info online in english. I'l try and get pictures soon The main thing I am after right now is the power supply input pins on the nav unit. Thx.
  2. They don't all need studs, but they are notorious for breaking off in the head, according to the mechanics I've spoken to. The trunk lid dose get a bit of rust where the black side supports meet the painted rear edge at the two bottom corners of the glass, and I think they feel heavy because the struts don't stay at full strength for long after new, especially since mine have been regassed once and are failing again at only 184,000 k's. The steering is another point I'd look into, if its nice and tight your probably in luck as it may have a new/reco steering box and ball joints etc, if it is vague and loose you may need a new steering box to restore it to its origional feel. Mine is pretty vague and worn, but by no means undriveable. The MR30 Hatchback is a great car!. I got mine for $2500 on road, and it has all the usual stuff including 15in alloys and AC. Cheap cars usually always need a little money spent on them to get up to scratch, but don't let that detur you from buying one.
  3. I'm not an expert on MR30's but my Hatchback has 183,000 km's and already has a failing rear oil seal (crankshaft) and some broken exhaust manifold studs (normal for L24E's) which need to be drilled out and replaced with aftermarket ones. Oil leaks from the rear of the motor mean trouble and I have no idea of how much the stud replacement could be. Another thing to check is if it's had its head gasket replaced at least once in its lifetime, because I hear they tend to go on high mile motors. Don't expect great fuel efficiancy either, but being a manual it should be OK. My auto gets about 350 - 450 k's per tank. Hope this helps.
  4. I use Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound for nasty stains like sap or oil on my white MR30, but it is powerfull stuff and will take a fine layer of paint off with it, so rub lightly and the stains will disappear, but not your paint. From what I understand PrepSol contains powerful solvents for etching paint in preparation for a respray, and is not reccomended for removing stains and other things like that, I may be wrong though, so check the can first.
  5. My first and current car: 1983 Skyline MR30 Hatchback, Very good condition inside, just a few niggling mechanical problems.
  6. I'm aware we don't have any real written rights like the US Constitution, but there are certain rights that apply to every good and decent person on earth.
  7. You got the Nazi part right, but this is the Peoples Republik and Socialist Empire of Viktoria. (the Nazi's were Socialists BTW) How can this government expect to get away with these crimes? Simple, they disarmed us the same way Hitler disarmed the Jews. The Jews couldn't fight back when Hitler's army rounded them up into camps and killed them. Our government isn't likely to kill us, but whats to stop them from rounding up all import cars? Call me old-fashioned, but we need to take direct action against this abusive government soon, it is our right to. Once our rights are gone, it may take a bloody war to get them back, all of them. I don't think there is any other way to win this war that they have declared on us.
  8. I think its time for some direct action against these terrorists, surely there is a way to organize hundreds, or even thousands of car enthusiests to rally in the city, or create rolling road blocks to get our message across, sure disrupting traffic will cause a bit of collateral damage to our cause, but the only way to win against such a vicious enemy is to comitt a few 'nessecary evil's' to get the message across. Heck, I didn't win Letter of the Month in October 2003 edition of Motor Magazine for nothing, but sadly I have never been able to find the resources, and sheer numbers of people, to follow through with my proposals:( Lets make 2005 our year of Victory and take these terrorists down!
  9. Mine dosn't have one, and its not in the manual either. The ECU isn't that 'smart' comapared to modern ones and must operate off a set program that only goes by air flow and engine temp to regulate fuel usage? How 'bout a drop in upgrade package with a better ECU and extractors fitted with an O2 sensor? anyone make such a thing?
  10. Thanks SteveL Josh, Extractors will help as far as exhaust is concerned, but I don't know if it will reduce fuel consumption. Extractors are mainly to boost power and I'd fit them to mine anyway. I think someone said that you could increase the intake air flow by cutting a hole in the lid of the airbox, and I think this will help fuel consumption or power output too. I haven't modified my airbox but I have run her with the lid off and she growls like a beast Running your tires at the maximum reccomended pressure(glovebox plackard) will also save fuel, as will not using the AC and using engine and diff oils, like synthetic, that reduce friction more than regular oils.
  11. My MR30 is using a a lot of fuel too. My temp sensor (gauge) isn't working properly either, dose this affect fuel usage? I have no idea about the other sensor or thermostat. Another thing regarding L24E fuel, was this engine designed to run on leaded or unleaded? I see neither specified in the manual and have been running it on straght unleaded like the dealer had been for a while. Am I going to stuff the valves if I don't use LRP or an additive?
  12. The MR30 was made in Japan right? My VIN tag says somthing about Japanese factorys, but the compliance plate says" Nissan Motor Co' Australia"
  13. Please excuse the persistant questions but how much dose a low mileage RB30 cost these days? and what model Skyline dose it come from?
  14. Thanks for the tip, The rough engine problem has sorted itself out, but the leads are getting a bit old anyway, so I'l replace them when I do the plugs and oil in the next week. I'l use mineral oil untill the leak is sorted out too.
  15. I'm interested in the same sort of conversion for my MR30 Hatchback, except I have the 4spd Auto box. Can I use the stock box or is it the same problem as the manual box? I can imagine the conversion isn't cheap, but how much would i expect to pay for all of the parts, including suitable brakes and auto box? My L24E is also costing me a lot in fuel and isn't too healthy right now, is there a simpler/cheaper conversion using a bigger or more powerful engine than what I've got? the RB30 sounds pretty expensive.
