  1. Thanks Buddy, Please send me a PM when everything is ready to go and we'll take it from there.... or alternatively, you could send me an email at: [email protected] Cheers Craig
  2. Thanks mate Let me know how you go. Do you think we could just get it sent via Aus. Post? Cheers ..... Craig
  3. Damn, I wish I knew about this when I was down in Melb. a month ago. Do you think there is any chance I could get one shipped to Darwin? Cheers..... Craig
  4. Hi All, Like u guys, I also thought that Martin was screwing me around when I didn't get my R33 steering wheel for several months and when I contacted him, he told me that he was having trouble getting the special tool required to remove it from the steering column. But, in his defence .... I recently drove down to Melbourne from Darwin and gave Martin a call. He never once failed to answer my calls or reply to my text msgs and in the end, he actually did a half-way meet with me and gave me the whole steering column with the wheel still attached. In addition to the steering wheel, which I should add was a very reasonable price compared to the prices that I have recently seen people asking for them, he also helped me out with a few small nuisance parts that I was chasing and he gave me these free of charge. On actually meeting Martin (and please remember that I didn't confront him at his door), he apologised profusely and I found him to be more than honest. He explained to me how he had been ripped off by some dodgy importers who sold him a Skyline that they had imported for racing use only and subsequently, he did his $$$$ because he couldn't get it complianced. He claims that he had been busy trying to track these unscrupulous assholes down and get his money back and I tend to believe him. While I initially thought that Martin was just slack or full of shit, in hindsight, I was also a little bit slack in letting it go too long before I contacted him to see where my part was. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, if you just give him a chance to make amends and work with him a little, I'm sure that you will ultimately be more than happy with your purchase(s), as I certainly was - it just took a little longer than usual!!!!!
  5. Hi All, I'm not sure if the S1 and S2 RB25DET are different in this regard, but can somebody with a workshop manual for a S2 please tell me what the fuel pressure (stock fuel pump) should read at the plenum? Thanks
  6. No worries Shane, I didn't keep a real accurate record, but I'd say that I spent about $1K on fuel just for the trip down and back ie. $500 each way. One thing I did notice though, is that when I was doing country driving down there, ie. up to Falls Creek etc., I was getting around 550-600 km out of a full tank. Must have been a combination of the colder, thicker air and the fmic I think. Anyway, I was going to give u a call over the next couple of days, cos' I've got the same problems with my tyres and the camber that you had. Talk to u soon. Cheers .... Craig
  7. I don't think its anything to worry about. My mate is a mechanic and he replaced the timing belt on my Stagea around 2-3 months ago and it starting making that noise straight away. He reckons it is the newer type timing belts and this is usual for them (I can't be sure, but I think he said something about an increased amount of carbon or something that they are putting in the newer belts). He had a S2 R33 and he says it made the same noise after he put a new timing belt in that too and that it goes away after the belt wears in a bit. Anyway, I just drove my Stagea from Darwin to Melbourne and back. I sat on around 150-160 kph most of the way between Darwin and the SA border, there and back and covered about 12,000 kilometres on the whole trip. Its still making that noise but it didn't give me any problems at all and still hasn't. I hope this puts your mind at ease. Cheers ..... Craig
  8. My Stagea does exactly the same thing. I just assumed that it might have been sensing that the cabin temp was already less than 19 degrees, so it actually started blowing in hot air to bring it up to that temperature. 19 degrees inside a car with no sun shining in through the windows would actually be quite cool, wouldn't it? But now that I think of it, the times that I have tried it and it has done this have actually been at night. I'll try it again tomorrow, when the outside temp is 36 degrees with 110% humidity and see what happens. Hmmmmmmm
  9. Martin, It's no problem .... take as long as you need to get it off properly and without damaging it and I know you have also been busy. I was just wondering how u were getting along with it. Anyway, see how you go on Tuesday arvo and I'll give u call towards the end of the week. Cheers.
  10. Martin, No replies received to my PM or emails recently. Can you please tell me what is happening with the steering wheel? Have you had a chance to send it yet? Please respond to my PM or emails. Thanks ..... Craig
  11. Hey mate, don't know if ur wheels will fit or not. Why don't u get the Staj back off ur missus and just try 'em on for size Only joking mate, but I guess your missus is still using it cos' I saw it parked in town a few weeks ago and it looked like it had just been polished. All clean and sparkling .... a lot nicer than when u were using it!!!!!!! Give me a call and we'll catch up for a beer or two. Cheers ........ :ddd:
  12. Good idea .... I'd be in that. Lets organise it for a Sat or Sun arvo :ddd:
  13. Ian, I'm not sure what the standard offset is on the R34 rims. Unless somebody else can tell us, you would have to check it yourself. It should be stamped on the inside of the rim - normally on the hub. As long as the offset is around the +30 to +35 mark, then you should be okay - although my tyres are 235s all around and my rims are 18's with a +35 offset, I don't think I could have gone much wider than that with the tyres, without them protruding beyond the guards.
  14. Like SK said ..... you need to try and keep the aspect ratio of your rims and tyres the same all around. I have just looked into all this myself and I think you might find that the difference in the width of your front and rear tyres, will also mean that the actual diameter of your front and rear wheels will be different. I'm not sure what the formula is that they use to work this out, but if you call into any tyre place and ask, they will be able to tell you..... but this is how you get combinations, such as 225/50/17 on the front and 255/45/17 on the rear - because although the tyres are different sizes (width and profiles), the difference in the profiles actually means that they retain the same aspect ratio.

Thanks for that info Shane. Where did you get it done here and what did it cost? Cheers ..... Craig

Ben and Gary, The model code on my build plate actually reads "RE4R01A" followed by the "RC40". I can't read Japanese, but I assume this is the transmission type because it is close to the RE40 that you identify. If this is correct, then mine is obviously an 'A' type box. Cheers ..... Craig
  17. Marc, I don't have any pics at the moment, but I could may be take some over the weekend and forward them to you if you want to leave your email. Rims are 18"x8" Inox1 by Koya Wheels. Tyres are 235/40/18 Falken Ziex 326 all around. Cheers ..... Craig
  18. hehehe ......... doesn't sound like you ACT guys have a real big choice of clubs to waste away ur youth in, but Darwin is worse .... in fact, it's f#@kin downright pathetic up here. :ddd: -> :spew:
  19. Hi, I'm no expert on the matter, but I think a +42 offset might be a little too much unless your rims are less than 7" wide. I just put 18"x8" rims with a +35 offset on mine. This seems to be ideal, as they sit dead level with the guards and also leave enough room behind them for a 4-pot brake calliper upgrade :drooling: I hope this helps. Cheers ..... Craig :ddd:
  20. Cheers mate. Best of luck. Keep ur head down and take care yourself. See you when you get back........ Craig :sadam:
  21. Living in Darwin, you get plenty of experience in dealing with freight companies - so here is only a brief account of some of my experiences: TNT: Case #1 - Front and rear skyline brakes boxed up and sent from Melbourne in two boxes, plus a Holden Rodeo Grille for my brother in another box. Result = boxes opened and front brakes missing. Grille broken in several places. TNT's response = "3 x Boxes received and signed for and 3 x Boxes delivered. We didn't sign for the contents of the boxes"!!!!! And with regards to the smashed grille - the sender should have packed it more securely. TNT Case #2 - Vehicle freighted from Brisbane to Darwin. Good price due to a mate who uses them a lot for vehicle transport making the booking. However, despite having to pay the full amount up front, the vehicle did not leave on the day it was supposed to and consequently, it sat around their depot in Brisbane for a week and arrived here one week late. Thankfully, there was no damage to the vehicle when it arrived, but I was a little p'd off about their attitude in relation to the vehicle not leaving on the date that it was booked in to leave. Bulls Transport - The only alternative to TNT for freight from Melbourne to Darwin, but if you think TNT is expensive, then forget about this mob - as I did. John Bain Transport (Westrans) - I have used this company for lots of stuff freighted between Brisbane and Darwin and their service and price is excellent ie. Full Bodykit @$100 or 4 x 18" alloy wheels with rubber for $52.00. Delivery takes about 4 days and I have never had any stuff damaged by them, but I'm not sure where else they go to. Australia Post - Have had heaps of stuff sent thru Aus. Post. Delivery is fast and nothing has ever arrived damaged. Prices are reasonable and some of the pre-paid stuff is also covered for loss or damage up to $100. The only problem is that they won't deliver anything over 20kg or bigger than a large fmic. So that's it, my worst to best in that order.
  22. Okay guys .... I suppose we had better stop post whoring R33Dan's post. R33Dan, sorry mate - we'll get back on track now and answer your last question. I'm sure we can all catch up for a drink sometime, but most of us NT guys in this forum are nearly all married with youngens - so I don't think we get much of a chance to go cruisin at night anymore....... although sometimes I have been known to do it when I'm trying to get the young bloke off to sleep Anyhow, that said - a few of us don't mind a few cold ones on the weekend and I myself don't mind a couple after work on a Friday arvo - that is unless the missus wants to go to Casuarina, but hell - there's a couple of bars over that way too :ddd: But if your into cruisin, best bet is just to have a look around town on a Friday or Saturday night. Check out the Carparks on the cliffs around Casuarina Drive or head down around the Trade Development Zone (TDZ) about halfway along Berrimah Road and your sure to bump into some other like-minded souls. I'm also going to head out to Litchfield Park on the ANZAC Day long weekend with the family if anyone else is interested. We will be heading off early on Sunday morning (24.04.05) and will be staying in Bachelor overnight - so that I can partake in our traditional ANZAC Day past time and sleep it off before heading back to Darwin on Monday arvo. Anyone else wanting to tag along is more than welcome, but if u want to stay overnight, then you might have to pitch a tent or get a room at Rum Jungle. Cheers ...... Craig
  23. hehehe....... truth be known mate, Ken probably went on some drunken rampage through Ropongi one night and got half the parts off cars parked in the streets as he went along. I'm sure he did get some of them at Auctions, but I'd hate to imagine who he filled full of piss to achieve that!!!!! :alcoholic
