  1. hi mate dont know if it is of any help but i have a brand new after market heat sheild that partially covers the filter?
  2. Hi there guys I have a 1993 Maroon/Red R32 GTST Coupe for sale.....The car was bought approx 6 years ago at 100,000km in standard form. Apart from a front mount and turbo back exhaust it is still in its original form. It does not even run a boost controller. This is probably why the only things that have ever been replaced have been a batery and a clutch. The car runs perfectly and everything works & it looks great with its GTR boby kit and 17" wheels.....Asking price is $5500 unregistered or $7000 with 6mths QLD rego....prices are firm....photos comming soon. Pros: Light weight 17" racing wheels lowered suspension Frount Mount IC Turbo back 3" exhuast GTR body kit Sunroof Cons: Two small spots of rust (if bought registered will repair) air con vent on passenger side broken......
  3. as the title says im chasing a R33 series 2 auto ecu in good working order, preferably as cheap as possible
  4. no one out there knows how to do this ?
  5. HI guys i have done some searching but there seems to be some conflicting info on this topic. I want to test my knock sensors to see if they are working ok. How do i correctly tets them with a multi meter, and what should they read? Should they be diconected from the ecu or can i take a reading straight from the siganal wire goind to the ecu while still pluuged into the ecu. i have taken idle readings of both sensor wires just in front of the ecu while all pluuged in and they are reading 2.4v each at idle. On eof the workshop manuals suggested .3V is correct at idle ? Can anyone help.....cheers
  6. So in theory if you could some how cap the voltage signal from the afm so that you eliminated a few of the high end load reference points, and use a fuel reg to replace the lost fuel, although crude, you would at least have improved timming without the expence of an after market computer? I relise it would not be as good, but would it work? Obviously it would be subject to a safe tune!
  7. i would have thought that standard or not, the entire map would be used because the load points appear to be throttle position reference points. so if you are foot flat and towards the end of the rpm range you will find your self in the least desirable end of the map regardless of modifications or not.
  8. Thanks heaps for all the advise guys, i just learnt a lot. Looks like i should start by making my car more tuneable. Thanks again.....
  9. Thanks guys that explains r&r a lot better for me. I need to understand it better as i am trying to figure out the most inexpensive way to get more mid range out of my r33, as it seems to be a bit doughy before 5000rpm. I thought it might have been running knock maps in that region and i was considering padding out the sensors with resistors as a tuner told me the car is not knocking but was being retarded by my overly sensitive sensors? But now it seems that i may also have an issue simply with the r&r end of the normal map. I have the usual basic mods including a high flow turbo (hypergear) and a safcs2 as my only form of tuning. I have checked my vvt solinoid is ok and it seems to be. I know high flow turbos are slightly bigger, but i would not have thought that they would sacrafice so much mid range over standard. The car has only had one breif tune and made 275hp at 6000rpm (11psi) which is all well and good but it has nothing prior to 5000rpm. Funnily enough if i only use half throttle it seems to be far more responsive in the midrange and goes about as hard as full throttle? Any suggestions? Cheers...... Ps. i have not yet put in adjustable fuel reg. Perhaps this would help tune out R&R with safcs ?
  10. my understanding is that R&R is the knock maps activating....Pretty sure R&R only applies itself when knock is detected....
  11. I was reading another thread about different management set ups and read something interesting about knock maps. It was suggested that while nistune retains the standard knock maps, other systems like power fc do not, even though they display a knock reading. I would like to know if this is correct. Would this mean those running power fc have essentially done away with the rich and retartd function as result? Also do other systems like microtec use any kind of knock detection, R+R, or just a waring sytem? cheers..........
  12. This car is in excellent condition for its age and is mecanicaly A1. I have owned the car for twelve months and am selling in order to fund an overseas trip i promised my wife. Previous to me the only other australin owner was female, and it was in stock condition apart from the wheels. I have modified the car somewhat since owning it. I had it dyno tuned at 275rwhp at only 12psi. All my mods are sensible and legal. I have poored alot of time and money into this car so grap yourself a cheap, very fast, reliable car..... the following is a list of mods 19" crhome wheels High flow tubo SAFCII computer TRUST front mount intercooler (no illegal cutting of the body!) Turbo back exhaust HKS pod filter custom built air box boost gauge electronic boost contoller modified coil packs $1000 pioneer head unit (with ipod cable - controls & charges ipod fom head) pioneer speakers 12" sub & amp Oil changed every 5000km with synthetic oil. Trasmition just had full service and inpection for wear, and was given a clean bill of health. Aircon recently re-gassed and works almost too well. Radiator plastic end caps have been replaced and flushed. Coil packs have been specially modified to handle high performance and have never broken down, EVER. I have done all the maintenance things you have to do to a skyline of this age so you dont have too! Beware those who havent, it might cost you ! please call danny on 0403357729 for more info....
  13. hey guys, thanks for your help, a mechanic mate said the same thing today. for the climate control we are thinking!
  14. made from the same mterial used to make factory air boxes, has been designed to be compatible with the standard intercooler piping. looks trick, works well. $50...gold coast area - will post at buyers expense......

  16. i have always been told that power fc can not be used with auto's!
  17. Hi guys, was fitting a front mount to my r33 S2 yesterday and when reloctaing the horns noticed directly beneath them towards the bottom of the radiator was a small plastic "something", sensor?, i don't know. it has a wire that can be clipped in and out of it that shares the same wire loom as the horns. it is mounted on a thin metal bracket that i had to bend out of the way a little for the front mount fittment. Does anyone know what it is, what it does, or whatever, and more importantly, does it matter that i moved it slightly.

  19. Was this a genuine article or aftermarket. I am presuming that given your circumstances they would be new, not 2nd hand. Very expensive? Where from? Thanks for your replies guys, it is a bit of a grey area i know. Im sure someone else is learning from all this!
  20. The tuner i used is one of the most recomended in my area. His comment on the overley sensitive sensors was a generalisation about the sensitivity of factory sensors. Basically he meant they lean on the side of caution a little too much. It's sounds like "word3d" has also heard of this, going by what he said about tuners not detecting knock even though the sensors are dectecting something. Also safc only bends the singnal of the voltage from the air flow meter, so how could that influence R&R kicking in for knock? i know you can stop R&R kicking in for exceeding the factory set airflow reading, but not for knock!
  21. Hi peoples, I got a bit of a curly one for you all! I just had my car (r33 S2) tuned with a safc2, and althoug i am very happy with the peak output the car achieved, my tuner told me the mid range is being held back a bit becuase of the knock sensors detecting some knock. Obviously the result is timming being pulled out and petrol put in. At about 5500rpm it comes good again and the power curve heads upwards dramatically. My problem with this is that the tuner told me that it is common for knock sensors to be overly sensitive from factory, as he was unable to detect any knock using his own form of knock detection. I have read threads on how to block out the knock sensors by replacing them with a resitor, or by installing diodes between the ecu and the knock sensors, but am unsure of wether this is a wise move. Has anyone got any experience with this problem, as i would like to improve my mid range tune without changing computers or anything like that. Any help would be great...
