  1. Great fun! Achieved 251 km/hr on the third run which put me 25th out of 83 cars that attempted the VMax run. Not as much as I had hoped, but learnt a lot. So - more power, less granny shifts, etc. for next year. Still, I doubt there were many cars, if any, ahead of me that were daily drivers! As usual, the hospitality in Country WA was fantastic. The people at the place I stayed in Dowerin were great and all the local folk who came to talk to me at the event were really complimentary about the car. I have raised over $1,700 for the Children's Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation at the event. Anyone wishing to donate can go to: https://give.everydayhero.com/au/keep-calm-at-racewars I will have to get the original piccies from the photographers! Great talking to some of you there. Cheers, Brendan.
  2. This type of thread really annoys me. All you get is one side of a story. My side of my story is that Danny and his team has done a fantastic job on my car, Some of the fabrication and development work has been simply world class. Any of you who know my car will know this is not bs. Some of this work has taken time. You cannot do this type of work at the drop of a hat. I have seen some people come to the shop, expect instant service (when others are clearly there before them), expect instant solutions to complex issues and whinge and moan when it a) takes time and b) requires more parts and money then they were willing to allow or admit. We are dealing with highly tuned, complex cars. You don't get instant solutions for the price of a service on a falcadore. If you have unrealistic expectations, you won't be happy and you will blame others. I vote with my feet and my wallet. Danny is still looking after my car after importing it for me in 2007, stock as a rock. He will continue to look after it and I would not let anyone else touch it - particularly some of the other shops in Perth! Cheers.
  3. Naturally I was proceeding in an orderly manner, without undue acceleration, excessive speed or loss of traction. Just thought I would confirm that. Keep it on the track, boys and girls! :-)
  4. Hey, Brandon. You have booked yourself a seat, mate! And wait until you see what my good mate Danny at Garage101 has done with the tuning for E85, with a Haltech ethanol analyser in the fuel line. It is almost scary on full boost and the booze! I have also got my HKS DMR camera system set up now so if you can use any of that from the two camera view, you are welcome! Definitely learned a lot last year and the car will be sooo much better this year! Should be a great weekend!
  5. Entry is in! Looking forward to it - and hopefully not as much waiting around. But then, that is always going to be the case with an event like this. They do say that in motorsport, one of the phrases often used is "Hurry up and wait"! Hope to see you guys there.
  6. Sorry to hear you had to go through this, mate. These people are turds. Only thing that will put them off is a big dog. I have GPS tracking and high tech alarm - and a big dog. Secure parking at work and locked garage at home - with the dog able to roam around it! Make sure you get an independent assessment of your engine, transmission, suspension, wheels, tyres, etc. Anything the b'stards could have screwed. You need someone independent from your usual workshop to assess it so you can make a detailed claim. Even if the insurers will only pay for replacement with a stock motor, you need to prove the motor is stuffed to get replacement. Then buy back the usable parts from them and rebuild. Hopefully if you have declared the mods, they will pay for rebuild. Bear in mind that getting money from insurance companies is like getting blood from a stone. Hence an independent report. Witness reports of it being thrashed will help. Best of luck. And I hope they find and hang the b'stards!
  7. Wrap Magic in Malaga. On Lancaster Road. They did a great job on the roof of my Pulsar and are currently working on a couple of other things. Good guys.
  8. More to myself, than anything else. For lots of reasons, I stuffed up and ran in low boost all through the Saturday. Then on the Sunday I only managed two runs on the 1000 metres, because I was flying out that night and had to get back. The first one, the timing didn't work and I had a good indicated top speed. The second one, I stuffed the start and one gear change and the timing worked. So, I came away with the overall feeling that I had not driven the car to its potential. I want to do that this time. So that is the point I want to prove to myself.
  9. Hi, folks. I enjoyed myself this year and have a point to prove next year! I have booked my accommodation in Dowerin just now. I hope it is not quite as hot and they iron out the kinks in the schedule. The organisers did a great effort for the first year. Still learning to drive, it would appear!!!
  10. Eh, Broo. Fully sic, man. Woh! And da cops will have loved yah post, dude. I can't keep this up!! "Blastin" on the roads may be a blast, but it just sounds like you are going to drive illegally - which you probably were. So don't give the boys in blue and the politicians an excuse to lambast us. ("Lambast" sounds similar to "blast", but isn't!) You have a "blast" on the track. You have a "cruise" or a "drive" on the street. Keep it on the track or you will have your car taken off you and you will confirm the bias of the cops and the politicians against us. Cheers.
  11. I have a bayside blue R34 GTR V Spec II. I was at Racewars in April and had quite a few pictures taken of the car. Let me know when you are doing it and, if I am available, I would happily come along. :-)
  12. Alas, I will be in Sydeney, basking in the aftermath and hangover of the final test match with the British and Irish Lions. Now that is going to be one helluva weekend! Best of luck with the cruise. I hope I can make it to the next one, as I need to get the GTR out of the city more often! Cheers.
  13. Thanks, mate. Having managed to run all Saturday on low boost (just 11 psi!! I blame aging vision and small letters on the Profec Spec B in the glove compartment!), I am quite surprised to finish up 17th in the 1/4 mile drag, with 13.106 1.070 169.27 A week later, at the 1 Day Classic Rally, I did a 12.86 with an indicated speed around 190 km/hr (only hand-held timing and no speed recording) - but I do have that on video! I will load it up when I get some time. So, finally running high boost on the Sunday (22 psi - much better), I beat one of the R35s in the rolling start 800 metre runs - which is on the Antilag video on YouTube. He later ran a 258 km/hr in the 1000m drag. Unfortunately, the timing gear did not work on my first 1000m run but I had an indicated speed around 265 km/hr - and I did not get the camera system working until the following weekend! I had a crap start on the second run, when the timing system worked, so: 23.092 2.392 232.75 and then I could not stay for another run at the 1000m drags (flight to catch that evening). So, it seems like I need to do it again next year!! That is a gorgeous car! Is that a Barracuda with a hemi? Just like the baddies had in Bullett? Cheers.
  14. OK - where are the results? And please don't tell me they are on a forum that I am not a member of or on Face Tube (of which I am also not a member). How about "they are on the official website" so I can access them? Congrats to those who won stuff. I was not impressed with the timing gear, which didn't work on more than one of my runs, according to those watching. Overall, a good effort by the Antilag guys at a complex event, with some learning points for next year! I have sent a message to Antilag via the official website. If I hear anything back, I will let you know. Cheers.
  15. If not too late and the "Tuned" guys are interested, they can come to Wyalkatcham on 6th and 7th April and see my car running on the 1000m drag! If they want a look at my car on 4th or 5th, then let me know. Send me a pm and I will send you my mobile number. Mine is 2001 V Spec II with a mod list longer than my arm, over 500 hp at the wheels and some unique touches (thanks to Danny Fisher at Garage101). Cheers.
  16. Road to Cape Naturaliste lighthouse from Dunsborough. Just be careful at dusk - loads of roos, as my mate found out, twice, with his Maserati! Ouch! Head North of the Overlander roadhouse, past shark bay and the road twists down a hill and then is arrow straight for a loooooong time. Not as long as 90 mile straight, but must be getting close. Great road, much admired by Mr. Plod. Head East from Albany to Two Peoples Bay - beautiful bay and an reasonably fun road. Road through the forest south of Permberton. Cannot remember name, but it is a good drive and very picturesque as well. But nothing we have in the West beats the Great Ocean Road. Awesome. One of the world's great drives. Cheers.
  17. That would all be good if I had a login for their forum. Had a quick look, couldn't find it, don't have time to p#ss about. I will see you when I see you, in whatever group I am in!
  18. Not been told anything on pools yet. Waiting to hear. Mind you, I have not been to get the car scrutineered yet, so maybe they will give me that stuff then. Should be happening on Saturday!
  19. I am going. I have always wanted to do a top speed run on a runway. Why should Jeremy Clarkson have all the fun! I was frustrated that there were similar events over East but we had nothing here. I even did my own research on likely airstrips in WA. Wyalkatcham has a fairly new runway of 1600m, so it is won't be long enough to top out and still stop safely, but it will be enough to get scary! So I am grateful to the guys at Antilag for organising this thing - and they seem to have done a very thorough job. There is also going to be a display of cars in Forrest Chase on Tuesday 2 April 2013, which mine should be in. I have just been informed that there will be an Aventador adn a GT40 there too. So this is much bigger than a few "rice buckets' as our Falcadore friends love to call us! I hope to have an onboard camera system installed too (HKS DMR), so should be able to post some vid of me yelling as I pass 250 km/hr! Cheers.
  20. Sounds like you have a new Pope!
  21. I have two clutches for sale - one for an R34 GTR - Exedy twin plate, very driveable, only done 10,000 km and 8,000 of that was going across the Nullabor and back so not using it much! The other is an ATI carbon twin plate for an R32/R33 GTR. I will have to check whether it is push or pull, I can never remember. This one is near new, barely used. Not sure if either of those will fit your car and gearbox. Probably not. But both are very driveable and not grabby at all. Not like my current NPC twin plate. Now that thing grabs! Makes hill starts an interesting activity! Let me know if any use for you and I will work out a price. Cheers,.
  22. You may be looking for a new computer, mate. I had to sling the HKS valcon for my V-Cam, because it had been locked by the HKS tuner in Japan. The HKs guys in Oz were not interested, because I had imported the system on a second hand engine. So I now have a Haltech that manages the V-Cam and everything very nicely and gives awesome results. I know it hurts to throw away a perfectly good computer, but if nobody in Perth can do it, then that is your only option. If someone in Perth can do it, I would be cautious in dealing with anyone who is in a monopoly situation. They may well be fine, but you are at their mercy! Cheers.
  23. Bayside Blue R34 GTR on Safety Bay Road on Saturday lunchtime, 12.15-ish, 28 July. I was heading towards Mandurah and you were heading towards Perth. You flashed lights and waved. I gave it the "What ... ..!" "Oh, that was ... ... ". So, we were nearly twins and I did not even react! Sorry! (Note to self: must get more sleep ... ... ... but not whilst driving ... ... ...
  24. Hi, Dan and all. I would have loved to come along with the GTR and my boys in the Pulsar, but I am otherwise engaged with rugby on Saturdays until end of September. Please let me know if you have another planned for later or have the chance of something on a Sunday. Cheers, Brendan.
  25. Welcome to the R34 GTR owners club! Now you have to give some info on your new car - what year, goodies, etc. Cheers.
