  1. I've seen his car and plates around. Sad news and I really feel for his family and friends. Going to make all future Christmas to New Years really difficult for them as well. RIP Lance.
  2. That's what said before - Shannons have never stated they they wouldn't refund anything. They just didn't refund it. There is a difference. They have dragged this out over 4 years now. In that time I have continually paid interest the money (I have a line of credit mortgage) where as they have not.
  3. I've been in touch with the Ombudsman several times. Until Shannons actually refuse to deal with you - which they haven't done - the ombudsman can't do a hell of a lot. The threat of getting the ombudsman involved does nothing to insurance companies. I'm sure they hear that from everyone who gets upset with their claim. As usual their is so much bravado on internet forums but it's not until you are actually in an extended fight with an insurance company that you realise that you don't get a lot of help and that you need to document everything. That was my initial mistake and it took me over a year to realise that nothing I did over the phone was of any value as I had no evidence of it. I had to put everything down in an email so I could refer back to it and keep persisting. My phone calls were generally ignored. My emails were not.
  4. I have been having an ongoing battle with Shannons about an accident that occurred in June 2008 and they still have not paid me back all the money that they owe me. The list of complaints I have documented about Shannons is quite lengthy and this is just an extract from an email I wrote to them on 28 October, 2011: "To say that I am unsatisfied with how this claim has been handled would be a gross understatement. Overwhelmingly incompetence would be closer to the mark. To write up an entire summary would take me many hours and I have already spent WAY too much time trying to get my car fixed, a job that I believed I paid Shannons to do." This email was written in response to four phone calls I had made in February, April, June & August of 2011 regarding the reimbursement of funds for reports and repairs that I had paid during May-August 2009 and had given to Shannons on 20 August, 2009. After that email I finally received a response from Shannons and in November, 2011, I was finally reimburse for most payments. I am still waiting on $1274 from 14 August, 2009. I can prove all of this. This was not my first claim with Shannons and not the first time I had encountered issues either.
  5. Hi Guys, My mate is getting married and I have been entrusted with organising the buck's party on Saturday 10th November. Usually that's a simple affair - plenty of alcohol and strippers - except my mate rarely drinks alcohol and has been on a health kick for 9 months now, and specifically stated that he doesn't want and is not interested in having any strippers (he has stated this repeatedly when there are just the 2 grooms men present). He is only 29 but is a pretty conservative guy (financial planner) and marrying a pharmacist. He is into cars but Mallala is booked out the day of his buck's party for the Phoenix Motorcycle Club SA track day. There doesn't appear to be any drags on at AIR that night. He is also interested in AFL - finished; Football (soccer) - Adelaide United play at Hindmarsh the following day, the Socceroos are not playing, Liverpool play Chelsea on Monday morning at 2:30am ACDT; F1 - no race that weekend; Cycling - I looked at hiring out the Super-Drome for 2 hours but the SA State Championships are on the weekend Nov 9-11th and we couldn't get him to the track the week before or after. So far I have made the following suggestions and have received some feedback from him. Go karts - he did this as a kid and isn't interested any more - too slow Ten pin bowling Mini golf Driving range (golf) Shooting range (guns) Archery Pool hall Paint ball - We don't have enough people. Arcade lock in (video games) Wine tour - we live near McLaren Vale & the wedding is at the Barossa Valley... Skydiving - Afraid of heights and had a total knee reconstruction 1-2 years ago that he wouldn't risk Bungee Jumping - see above Rock Climbing & Abseiling - Indoor yes (Holden Hill). Outdoor no. Fishing Charter - He just laughed at this suggestion but I took a that as "Hell no". I have also thought about hiring a bunch of scooters and setting out an Amazing Race like course with challenges where I could incorporate a lot of the ideas I had already put forward just on a much smaller scale. For example: Stage 1 - bowl a strike at ten pin bowling (Norwood) Stage 2 - hit a specific target at a golf driving range (Tap Inn at Kent Town) Stage 3 - etc Drop off the scooters and run to a bar where they have topless waitresses and you have to do a shot/skull a beer or something similar. By that time we will have done several small activities and can relax, eat a meal and have a some drinks. Although he has said that he is not really interested in alcohol I never underestimate the power of peer pressure and from there we can see where the night takes us. Issues with this idea are that we could all be separated, something could go wrong, someone could get hurt if they are not paying attention (most Adelaide drivers are poorly skilled). Anyway what I am looking for are suggestions of possible activities. And places in Adelaide where the waitresses are topless. They must be decent places and not absolute dumps. Thanks for your help.
  6. That's $2k each wheel. $8,000 for a set. No tyres included.
  7. Genuine BBS LM in 18x10 are around $2k brand new (at least they were in 2010). Their other models are cheaper but not the LMs. I'm not sure what the price would be for 19" rims as I can't find the site (pretty sure it was AMG but I couldn't find the LMs on there).
  8. I had credit at the store because they had stuffed up a previous order of mine quite badly. They were retailing MW3 for $99 but Target & Big W have it for $78 so it was easy to price match that plus used my store credit of $30 (which I had thought was going to be $50) but in the end I only paid $48 out of my pocket. Sorry, I should have explained that better last night but was anxious to put down my initial impressions and get back to some shooting. Every time I play a map for the first time I get destroyed but each subsequent time the odds are a bit more even. Had a visitor which cost me 26 deaths during a game of Sabotage whilst I stood at the doorway with my controller vibrating like crazy.
  9. Bought it on the PS3 today for $48. Had actually been playing a fair bit of MW2 recently as I got bored with GT5 & Black Ops never really grabbed me. Started with the Campaign and played for an hour before switching to the online multi-player. Like many I got annihilated by guys at level 30+ who had obviously sussed out the levels and had better weapons where as I was just running around looking at the new maps. Game play seems very similar to MW2 which is no bad thing but it seems that you have to be more accurate with grenade launchers and throwing grenades took longer to explode that I expected. Again I only played for an hour before going to the parents farm for din dins. About to jump back on and see if the Australian servers still have enough people to avoid lag otherwise I'll switch back to campaign. I'm writeoff3 on the PS3 network.
  10. Cheers for that. Only added Adam Cormack a few weeks ago after his name sat in my inbox for ages too. Just went through and deleted 4 'friends' including Maria Kanellis. And 'liked' the link in the post above.
  11. So who is Maria Kanellis? All of a sudden I'm 'friends' with this person that I have never head of & so are a lot of SAU members. Has to be someone from here. CBF going through and figuring it out but would like to know before I delete your profile.
  12. Can you give us some more information please Keiran? Perhaps you can answer these questions to help narrow down the selection criteria for us. I am looking at a near new (2008 or later) 5-door hatchback to replace my Peugeot 205 GTI that I've had for 14 years so I have been studying some of these models in depth. Does she want a brand new car or is she willing to get one that's a few years old and save thousands? Can your sister drive a manual? What size hatch does she want eg a Mini, VW Polo, Fiat 500, Citroen DS3 or the larger VW Golf, Ford Focus, Audi A3 size? If she buys a European car from the 'premium' brands like BMW, Merc, Audi or even the Japanese Lexus will she be able to afford the (usually more expensive) maintenance? Does she want a sports model like VW GTIs or Focus XR5 or is she happier with the more generic, better fuel economy models?
  13. Hi guys. I need to borrow a pair of stock GTR BOVs. I believe they can be from any of the R32-34 but am not 100% positive. I have a R32 GTR. I need to lend the BOVs to Simon at Morpowa (Modbury North) to make up a custom return pipe for me as St Marys Collision Repair Centre lost mine when they failed to repair my car over the 12 month period they had it in 2008/9. Please help me out. I have only had my GTR for 2x 3 month stints since blowing the engine over 4 years ago and in that time have poured thousands of $ down the GTR sumphole yet have had very little enjoyment from it. ATM I am in a very tight fiscal position and will be so until either Shannons finally pay me the $3.5k they have owed me since 2009 or I receive my legal settlement that has been going on since 2002. Cheers. David aka writeoff
  14. Pfft. I was on a SAU cruise and got left on the side of the road on my own over 50km from home at 2am while all the other Skylines drove straight past me. NO I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN.
  15. Thanks Damo. Disappointing that Crows didn't get much for Gunston. I think he showed a fair bit this year to suggest that he could be a very good AFL player. May as well call this the GWS Draft.
  16. That sounds very close to calling me a liar Pete! All the info you want is in the Forced Induction stickied RB26 thread, a few pages in, CBF searching for it but it's there.
  17. I did 348.5rwkW at Willall on their old Dyno Dynamics 2WD dyno & 335rwkW (after a tune) at Southern HiTech Dyno Dynamics 2WD dyno. These charts may help:
  18. The Evo is going already Pete? You change cars quicker than I change gears.
  19. Hawthorn played Adelaide in round 1 and lost although it was a somewhat hollow victory for the Crows as they lost Porplyzia, Sloane, Mackay and Doughty for extended periods. Adelaide's current injury list reads: Ian Callinan (bicep) - indefinite James Craig (hamstring) - 4 weeks Phil Davis (shoulder) - 1-2 weeks Michael Doughty (corked leg) - test David Mackay (shoulder) - indefinite Jason Porplyzia (shoulder) - indefinite Sam Shaw (hamstring) - 1-2 weeks Rory Sloane (thumb/jaw) - 2-3 weeks Scott Stevens (ill) - test Daniel Talia (achilles) - 2-3 weeks Luke Thompson (ankle) - test + Jared Petrenko was seen walking around in a moon boot and was to get scans on his ankle today. I wouldn't be backing the Crows against many opponents atm. At this stage I rate the teams as such: Collingwood Geelong, WBD, Hawks Freo, Sydney Carlton, Essendon, WCE, St Kilda Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, Richmond North Melbourne, Brisbane GCS On another note my tipping is going ok with 6, 6, 6 & 5 but my Dream Team is ranked 24th from 271,000 entries and my Super Coach squad is ranked 126th from 366,000 entries.
  20. I thought the Crows players were pathetic on Saturday. Craig had them structured well enough to get 5 goals in front. It's not like he then put on a Port jumper and starting kicking goals for the Power. Too many football fans are decades behind the modern AFL game.
  21. I'm still in pain from that game tonight. The worst part is that Port usually suck before & after a Showdown but they always seen to get up and beat the Crows.
  22. I found it interesting that I spun the R33 GTR twice today, both times on warm up laps when I was not pushing the car. I didn't drive very aggressively today at all - didn't attack turn 1 until the last session and never really pushed it through the Esses. I think the events of yesterday added to my caution.
  23. @ Kristian - if it makes you feel any better I spun my mate's series 3 R33 GTR at the same spot today on a warm up lap. The only thing I think I did wrong was release the clutch too abruptly (ie not smoothly) and the back kicked out. When I tried to correct it a tyre touched the grass causing the car to turn nearly 90 degrees and sent me into the grass in the middle of the track. I was changing from 2nd to 3rd at about 5500rpm. PS - If anyone comes across a cheap, stock R33 GTR front bar, preferably in black, please let me know. EDIT: not because I damaged it but because I want to change the 400R front bar so I can put the stock rims back on the car without the offset looking terrible.
