  4. whether it is a good turbo for the dollars or what.. the fact is no it will not be efficient at 30+psi.. however regarding bolting it up; that exhaust manifold flange looks t3 (suit rb20/25), however the dump flange will not suit a skyline. you will also need to block or loop/link your water lines.
  5. got gearbox mount and starter suit rb20det manual, in ipswich pm if your interested dude
  6. Yer mate I’m interested but after a few more details on the wheels and housing sizes
  7. you can get your rb25 rear housing machined to suit the 2871 and bolt up instandard position. if you're going highmount, go big if you're going a 2871 or kkr go low and keep it lookin standard. also internally gated turbo highmounted = very gay imo
  8. Mate, I have an rb20 in a 180 and have also done nearly all the work myself. I have a similar sized turbo, fmic, 3in exh, z32 afm, 550cc inj, ebc, remap, etc Firstly, welcome to the world of turbo performance. Until it’s tuned and sorted (sometimes even still after) it will be very hit and miss (hence your 2 experience of space flight) I had iridium plugs in till my tuner said they didn’t work to potential with Nissan coilpacks for some reason (forget the science behind it). He suggested and sourced some copper NGK B8EGV plugs for me. I put them in and yes definitely “the best $24 ever spent” (although they seem to cost more than $4 each at Repco) Gapping the plugs is band-aid solution and doesn’t allow them to perform at their full potential (smaller gap = weaker spark). It is better to get a plug designed for the application. Not saying plugs will solve all your problems but is definitely worth a go and worth the money. Also welding a second lug (same as for the standard O2 sensor) in the exhaust and running a datalogger (as stated) when out experimenting with a mate is a good option. Lets you know what is going on and makes your decisions a little less blind. I would recommend a remap… won’t cost much more than your SAFC. Add some dyno time and you should be sweet.
  9. i had ngk iridiums in my rb20, gapped to 0.8.. and my car felt flat, used to miss, felt slow, pretty gay talked to my tuner and, i'm not sure of the science behind it actually, apparently iridium plugs don't run well with nissan coil packs and i should put in copper ones. so he sourced me some NGK B8EGV plugs and its much better, smoother, powerful just my 2 cent experience
  10. there is a difference between the hks gtrs and the garret gtrs now without getting into a slinging match as to whether a hks and garret turbo is or is not better or the same as a garret equivalent size item... -the hks gtrs is very similar to a garret 2871 -garret calls its 2860 a gtrs which is also very similar in size to the hks 2530 i had the hk2530 on my rb20 now i have the garret 2871. both are mint turbos for the rb20 with the 2530 a little better lower and the 2871 better higher (as you would have guessed) difference is very minor though and i only changed as i fried the 2530 and just went bigger with the new one (as you do). i thought there was a sticky thread on here somewhere about the garret 2871 on different motors and which ARR and trim to choose hope this helps..
