  1. your stock turbo would be boosting fairly easily due to extra capacity/flow. Would this be bad for a newly built motor... running boost all the time. wouldnt it be quite hard to drive off boost with a stock rb20 turbo?
  2. yeh i kinda agree... could be safe to use the rb20 box to run the motor in, but i can see the added torque bending my gearbox over and working it to death
  3. When i take off from a stand still i can hear 2 distinct 'clunk clunk' coming from the rear of the car. does anyone have any ideas what it may be? It appear one day after going up and down a steep driveway. the clunks only occur when i take off from a stand still and there are only ever 2 clunks which can be timed without fail. gearbox is smooth no noises. i am thinking something along the lines of a worn bush/rubber, but have no idea on what component. Hi all, i am just wondering if there is anyway to identify the difference between an RB20det and RB25det 5spd gearbox... like is there any cast stamping on them etc etc? i would assume there is a physical size difference, but i wanna check out under my car to make sure of what i've got. And also to gain knowledge to safe guard myself when i go to purchase a new gearbox... if required. Thanks Dave
  5. well your car is going to fly joel imagine your car, then throw in 3 of your mates (200kgz) thats at least the extra load i gotta lug around on a daily basis.(before i get in) So the extra torque wont hurt in getting it moving... it will just hurt the poor rb20det gearbox anyone know if the VL turbo 5spd (MX7) would fit ??
  6. thanks for the info... just wanting to weigh up my $$$ and choices between the 25det or a 30det my car is all primed ready for a big power motor with every support system upgraded (minus engine and turbo ) Thanks for the info guys Dave
  7. yeh got a 550hp fuel pump, would use 550cc injectors, dont have a fuel reg, malpassi seems to be the common one, so possibly employ one of those.
  8. Hi, Just wondering what is required to pull 250rwkw+ (more on the plus side) from an RB25DET ? assuming i have an aftermarket ecu, 3" exhaust, large intercooler, pod filter. What needs to be done to this motor to acheive a reliable power figure. would be looking for alot of mid range street usable power.
  9. i am chasing 250rwkw+ to get my boat moving. I'm wondering how much power the stock pistons(NA VL) will cope with before they explode. Would the strength and longevity/power produced be increased by cryo/heat treating the stock NA pistons? *i have gone back thru the thread to look for my answer too *
  10. yeh its an import, came standard with the RB20det. insurance isnt too bad and i told Just Cars about every little thing on it and i pay about $20 more than a mate with a stock 92 Jzz30 2.5tt soarer. Dyno was 236hp@wheels on 10psi... Limited by the injectors. Has all the support systems to go bigger, i just havent had the cash to get injectors, my choice would be 13BT. The EMS can handle any type of injector too. any more info just ask Cheers Dave

  19. Joel... i got a dumbass question relating to the DIY guide... Can you really get away with using the RB20 oil pump?? is there any disadvantage to using it over the rb25 pump ? thanx

  21. i agree... group buy pick any 2 i want fast and reliable, on the cheap can stock NA cast pistons only hold 15psi with 8.3:1 compression ?
