  1. Z Parts - MUST GO - Over it! OK guys this is a re-post. I'm well over this project now and want the stuff gone. Had plenty of interest in the good bits but as always there's been plenty of wind, so here's the updated list of what's there. Prices reduced. Parts located in Wangara, WA and can be inspected by appointment during business hours. I can also be contacted by phone on 0418822444 with caller ID. Rolling Shell 1990/91 2 Seater $2000 Painted in Nissan Blue-ish Green (Was black). Paint faded but in good condition otherwise. Fitted with green compliance plate and is NOT registerred. It is complete minus the parts listed for sale below, PIAA low beams, Laserline Alarm, No Stereo, radiator or front bar, no hicas. Would make a good parts car, race car, project or whatever. 2. And hey NIB good to see some of the old crew still lurking!
  3. I chose 3rd because I wanted a roller speed between 120 and 180km/hr, in accordance with standard shoot-out proceedure. There's more to it than gearbox ratio - it's overall final drive that matters. The GTR of the Bart only made 518hp because it was blowing the tyres off. Big deal. I ran the car in 4WD first up and it made good numbers at all 4. The dyno wasnt down. The car wasnt down. 540 or whatever it made at all corners is damn respectable, and backs up the time slips. The low figure in RWD was an issue of coupling one to the other. Do we have any other AWD dyno figures to compare it to?
  4. From a technical perspective: Dyno is SAE compensated for ambient temperature, current temperature (used to be called intake temperature), humidity and atmospheric pressure. This means that on any given day, a normally aspirated car will record the same horsepower. What is not understood by many is that the way turbocharged cars react to heat and cannot be quantified or corrected. Everyone knows how flat their cars feel on hot days. Pneumatic and non closed loop electronic boost controllers cannot correct for ambient changes. Far from ideal temperature compensations in the engine management strategies, so you see excessive timing retard and fuel correction, and there wasn't a car there today that had fuel delivery temperature measurement/compensation. The dyno is only a comparitive measuring tool. It has given relevant information about the cars tested on the day, compared to each other, on the day, not last month, or another dyno at another time. The Autoworx facility was the most recently installed and calibrated machine in WA, so I highly doubt it reads wrong, low or whatever, but suspect that many of the cars are victim of nothing more than the classic old turbo's and heat drama. But all in all, thanks to all for the turnout. Was good to see some of the old faces, and so many new ones.
  5. Been ages since I posted on SAU. A couple of things need clarification: 1. The limiter on Gary's car was set to 7900. The scaling on the graph is wrong. It is calculated by the dyno as a function of roller rpm, not measured. I should have printed the graph in road speed to save the confusion. 2. The boost is not dying off. I did that on purpose. It has been tapered to provide maximum midrange punch without top end over-speed. Even if the turbo's could sustain that boost level at high rpm, the power gain would be minimal, if not non-existant. 3. Pricing for Vi-pec refer to Alistair. Rec retail on the R32/33/34 board is $1,666.50 inc GST supply only. Installation and configuration is suggested to be around $350 and dyno tuning over and above. The ecu's come with start-up maps only.
  6. OK Car is still for sale. Needs to go. New Kenworth coming. C15 power for the win!
  7. Nav run is where you go on a cruise with points based on clues and instructions, with challenges along the way. Prizes generally given based on winner, best bribe, most creative pic etc. The winner is not the first person across the line either, it's the person who gets there with the answers to the questions correct first. It's perfectly legal, not designed to invoke stupidity an are always fun. I will be driving the transporter down to the end point and display the cars as long as the council concerned come through with the permission. Be good for those interested to have a look over the set-up and meet some people.
  8. Hey Brett - I am curious if asking because you want to buy it or because you just want to know? It's in the 400hp at the wheels region.
  9. Thanks! Yep, getting crustier by the minute! There is an S15 in the stable now - being built for DA next year.
  10. Our new car for DA is underway........ We have practically every part, panel, bolt, wire etc for sale from our new car. Colour is white. It is probably easier to list what is not included than what is, so, NOT INCLUDED IS: Body shell, front and rear lights, boot lid, front windscreen and dash crash pad. Car has Autech Body kit fitted and the front bar includes the original driving lights. There are matching side skirts and rear pods. It has factory fitted Oil Pressure Gauge on the A pillar too (like the boost gauge option) Full interior etc is there as the whole car has been stripped ready for race prep. Also has a decent set of coil-overs in it too. *SOLD* Pics of the body kit etc available on request. Inquiries to me on 0418822444
  11. For the time being, nothing will really change. There is no need to find another shop. Ken will still be at the helm, and our 2 long-time technicians Andrew and Mike will be out the back slaving away, so the same standards of service and scope of work will be available. I will be available for specialist tuning on an appointment basis through Hyperdrive. Bookings can be made through Ken provided I am available, otherwise the boys can handle the more basic stuff themselves (s-afc, power runs etc) and as Ken says we have another tuner on back-up. So it really is business as usual. Anyone interested in the business would be hard pressed to find a better set-up operation with a good reputation and loyal customer base. With the 2 behind the scenes men wanting to stay onboard after the sale, the transition for all couldnt be any better. Thanks to all for the wishes.

  15. I have some - call me at work (08) 2093100
  16. Hi. It is for the 33. Unfortunately we dont have the v4.35 required for the 34GTT as it requires a box upgrade, which means return to factory, and that's a pain in the butt! I'll check the software version asap for you.
  17. The fc-datalogit package that I have lets me change the VTC point. It is a recent addition. The older version software didnt have it. Same feature is there for the S14/15. If it's stock, or near as, the standard setting is close enough.
  18. Our involvement in the street car scene has been with an SR20. We run 430hp at the treads in all-day-race-trim. nobody here runs an RB20 in that area. All of the high HP rb20's I've done end up dying because they were 150,000k's old before the mods started, and as they generally end up in drift cars, they get absolutely belted stupid on the road.
  19. Yeah Jason we played with the profec on that - did a few half pulls to try and get it on harder, but it made stuff all difference. I settled on a setting that gave the flattest boost curve for ya. I thought about cranking the boost up some more for you but it's hard to say when enough's enough. I could have spent all day on the car, but you have to weigh up what the gains will be versus how much the customer is prepared to pay, if ya know what I mean. If ya want us to push it some more, just give us a call and book it in. Happy to help. Just remember though that it wont last forever when you start stressing things out!
  20. I have a neo in my 180SX.......... and a Turbonetics t60
  21. And most tuners would also know that in a waste-spark scenario, the true load on the opposing coil, ie the one not at the combustion stroke, is practically miniscule. There is no combustion pressure to overcome, so the path to ground inside that cylinder is practically free. There is a lot of good info on waste-spark out there, so I recommend a few of you go check it out and get an understanding on the process rather than just spruik off someone elses half correct handmedown knowledge. With the correct dwell time and the correct spark plug choice, there is nothing wrong with this option. Heat in a coil comes from too much charge time, not how often the coil has to cycle.
  22. True rotational idle is a good thing. It has a purpose. To the best of knowledge, however, it's something that the more traditional motorsport level ecu's have mastered. It needs to be set-up right and as it's more of a race thing, street level driveability isnt an issue. Anyway, the coil pack issue is more related to the sheer dwell time the ecu is running. It's too high. Speak to your tuner and have them revise the setting. I am surprised at this failure though as I thought the Wolf with it's full sequential spark delivery wasnt supposed to do this!
