  1. Thanks mate :-P Can you pls confirm the price for Nistune ? Most likely I am in as well
  2. Hi guys, my apologies, they blocked access from work and I was fairly busy recently (and bloody card reader stopped working !!) Any way, as guys said, I got it from John for around $400 fitted with warranty. Cooling system flushed, new coolant, all checked. It almost twice as thick as the old one .. but look at the pics, they speak for themselves. I'm happy. IF I KNEW how thin was the old one, I'd change it long time ago - every now and then I go up north and I've seen +48.5 outside, going 100+ (well.. ++ :-)), loaded car, aircon on... I'll feel much better from now one.. Probably we could the radiator slightly cheaper, but I'd agree - for extra $50 someone does all the work + coolant + flush + testing + warranty + running around. $50 well spent.
  3. So, chukie, does that means that R33 and Stagea radiators are NOT interchangeable ?
  4. From my experience, the cost of repairing the unit is not that much lower (I might be wrong). Plus you end up with old unit, and you never know how long it will last. Nissan dealer is obviously an option, and I will approach one tomorrow. Just want to know what else can be done.
  5. Hi guys, It looks like I need a radiator for my S2 Stagea, the one in the car is leaking. I've done a search on the forum but was unable to find a part number for it. I found few topics here where people were talking about several options (ebay, koyo and so on). I would prefer direct replacement and put a standard or better one, but I dont want to go for manual radiator + external tranny radiator. might be the better option from performance point of view, but at this stage I prefer to "keep it simple" So, my question is - what (and where) do I need to buy? Should I look for S2 radiator specifically or R33 or stagea S1 radiators can be installed ? 36 mm, 40 mm or 52 mm ? They were talks on the forum about ASI radiators from ebay, like http://cgi.ebay.com.au/52mm-Alloy-aluminum-radiator-skyline-R33-RB25DET-GTS-T-/280580988112?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4153ee1cd0. They are well priced ($199 delivered) but I am afraid they suit manual cars only. Am I right ? Any help will be appreciated

    Xado

No. Although it sounds similar, ideas are very different.

    Xado

Oh, also done Honda Legend at that time (about 4 years ago) :-P

    Xado

I am. This product uses patented technology (actually, particular mineral), patented by russians. Ukrainian company uses that technology, but there are some issues. Russians claim that they stopped supplying components to Ukrainians so they do something on their own, and results are unpredictable. XADO says nothing bout it. Being fluent in russian, read ALOT of info about XADO, just spend few hours couple of weeks ago researching XADO. My ex brother in law was researching that stuff some time (4-5 years) ago, got in contact with people from XADO, they were very optimistic. I got XADO about 4 years ago, treated my camry sv21 and my stagea - engine, gearbox, power steering system. SV21 done about 400k , goes OK, original engine. Still got XADO tubes at home. Well, there are DIFFERENT opinions about XADO on the forums. Some of them are VERY interesting, that stuff seems to be working (if you get real product), at least for engines. I can dig out some photos and publish them here if people want Oh, and by the way - they charge arm and a leg here in AU, XADO is CHEAP in Ukraine. I mean - cheap, few bucks per tube or so (can find exact prices). If people want to go down that path, I can probably get in touch with some people from there and organize a group buy. PS can provide more info, but tired of typing Welcome to PM me with ur number if interested.
  9. Just done it last weekend, my 7yo son was very good at cleaning some parts with solvent and cotton wool buds :-) Idling is MUCH better now, i can't believe that such a simple job did so much difference. My unit wasn't that dirty inside, but dirt is some important parts (AAC valve assembly in particular) was definitely present, valve was almost stuck. AAC in my Stagea looks different compare to pic in this thread, and I am not sure how easy diaphragm should move ? I had to use screwdriver to push it .
  10. Well, rang Shannons. Coz my Stag is not my daily drive, I got away with $517. For daily drive it would be just under $700. Excess $500, no claim bonus protection. I had a policey with them before, my Honda Legend(*sigh*).. was insured with them.
  11. Oh, just got my renewal from LSV. Was very happy with them before ($20k, 786 premium, moderate eccess), got the renewal - $15k value, $1256 premium, $750 excess. Rang them, have a good conversation, basically they are changing directions and not interested much in insuring us anymore. Oh well, time to shop around.
  12. Obviously they are good enough now if they are allowed to do high speed chases, so they will become even better.
  13. Be careful - you wishes may come true. I read in the magazine that some bikie clubs aren't accepting the applications from pedophiles and people who were in police force (interesting point of view at least), so you may close that opportunity for yourself forever :-P
  14. Wishes are good. Help is better.
  15. Maybe. Don't know. I don't work for the police or for the media. I don't have enough information, only what media has provided at that point of time. If my memory serves me correctly, I also recall that at least one police vehicle was crashed during that pursuit and a dog (?) was injured and taken to the vet. I would like to think that if someone wants to know more and he or she approaches Department of Police, they would gladly provide all the details to that individual. And no, I wasn't talking about driving skills of the police officers involved in that particular chasing. However, better training would not hurt any of us. No, I have not. Current version of so called "Anti hoon law" is more important for me at this stage. But thank you for the idea, I might approach them in the near future.
  16. Hope so. However original article was published some time ago, no more details so far. I recall few years ago guy in Excel managed to get away from at least two police cars.
  17. Because they've been called "Recruits". I am not very familiar with their hierarchy, sorry
  18. "They have to navigate an obstacle course at up to 20km/h above a nominal speed limit." In plain English that means - inexperienced cadets will learn how to drive and overcome obstacles, doing +20 above nominal speed limit. Let me repeat - inexperienced cadets. And what they worry about - people lives? No, they worry about "legal protection", they say - "there would have to be legislation that would give legal protection to the drivers and the instructors in case they were in a crash on a public road and there was injury..." . Fan-f**g-tastic ! Now, read this: Travel at 20 km/h over in a 60 km/h zone and you’re 32 times as likely to have a serious crash. Source - "MEDIA RELEASE TITLE: ONGOING SUPPORT FOR SPEEDING ENFORCEMENT ENCOURAGED", Office of Road Safety, Government of Western Australia, August 20, 2007 http://www.officeofroadsafety.wa.gov.au/in...ReleasesCurrent Ouch. You said "double standards", didn't you?
  19. WA Police recruits would train on public roads at 20km/h over the speed limit instead of under controlled conditions in a plan the police union called a cost-cutting measure that could endanger lives. It is understood that under the police proposal, recruits doing their seven-day driver training would complete the priority two component, designed to replicate high-speed car chases, on roads in Perth and country towns rather than at Collie Speedway. Recruits now do priority two training at the speedway beside an instructor in a dual-control vehicle. They have to navigate an obstacle course at up to 20km/h above a nominal speed limit. WA Police Union president Russell Armstrong said yesterday he feared the proposal was cost cutting to help police achieve the 3 per cent budget cut the Government demanded from all departments. He said the proposed changes would save a big amount of money because police would not have to go to and from Collie. The current training was safe and had "served officers well for many years". Allowing recruits with no high-speed training to drive powerful cars well above the speed limit on roads was a recipe for disaster, Mr Armstrong said. "It's a real concern to us because we think there would be a lot of danger to our young officers and to members of the public," he said. "And before you could even consider this, there would have to be legislation that would give legal protection to the drivers and the instructors in case they were in a crash on a public road and there was injury or property damage." WA Police executive director Greg Italiano confirmed police were considering changes to driver training but refused to provide details of the proposal. He denied they had anything to do with the 3 per cent budget cuts. "The motivation for looking at these potential changes is the improvement of driver training, not cost-cutting," Mr Italiano said. "WA Police are spending more on driver training this financial year than it ever has." A spokeswoman for Police Minister Rob Johnson said he supported the police proposal. Shadow police minister Margaret Quirk said the plan presented major safety concerns for officers involved in training and the public. RAC head of member advocacy Matt Brown said he was not opposed to the plan but would not support it until police and the Government had done a safety assessment. 20. It sure would be; my understanding is - please feel free to correct me if I am wrong - that unfortunately I'd have to prepare my case (evidences, etc) in order to negotiate something with prosecutor, otherwise they might not be interested. They have nothing to loose personally anyway - they are getting paid, all expenses are paid, etc.
  21. Well, I am not going to "push the blame" and sometimes it is a good idea to get a legal advice before taking any actions. especially that the other party involved will be wearing a blue uniform ) Will send a PM shortly, and thank you for contacting me.
  22. It, I am sure, was (and is) the case. However, as I said and as you said, people may not be even aware or may have unrealistic expectation. SO I totally agree with Brad - it wont hurt to get that info summarized and EASILY accessible to everyone here, even people like myself - just click on the link, all info is there, all detail are there, just read, digest the info and decide what to do next. And if in a long run that post put few people in a right direction and help prevent at least one crash - it will be time well spent. Yes I realize - it is not a silver bullet, it is not an answer to all our questions, but it might help people to better use facilities that we've already got here in Perth. By the way - thank you, Brad, for doing that post.
  23. It was a relief to hear that both driver and passenger are doing ok. No matter who was right and who was wrong, they are humans, they have families and friends, and I wish them full recovery. Life is priceless. One more thing that I would like to ask before I go back to my box. It would be nice if someone with knowledge and first hand experience wrote a small post describing what facilities are available, their conditions, what needs to be done to access them, prices, etc. It can be done once and for all, instead of going over and over it in many topics. I agree with Brad and Paul - it may take only 1-2 hours of your time if you go online and do your own research, but I can also see that some members aren't even aware of what facilities are available and what is involved in getting access to those facilities. That tread can be made "sticky" and it will be, from my point of view, valuable addition to WA section of SAU forum. Just my 2 cents.
  24. Could not agree more ! Well said.
