  1. the hi energy sumps will not fit any jap stuff only 30,s in vl,s. sad but true... we learnt the hard way two year ago and now manufacture our own that will fit all cefiro, 180, silvia and all skylines.
  2. wow , you should work as a legal representative , they talk in circles and never get to a solution????? meanwhile off the topic and still no constructive reasoning to his question. by for ,, past my patience threshhold !!!!!!!!!!!!1
  3. gee you guys make it hard for the guy to try find out the cause, i have stated what caused the bearing issue whether he wants to take that advice or not is entirely up to him. we have been building and developing the rb engine over 4 years of drift and track use that linked with our 30 years of engine building experience we should be able to hit the nail on the head . do you think? to pick YOURE reply apart 1, you state ' oil starvation is the most likely cause' so why do you state that 'doesnt tell you why it failed' when the oil starvation is WHY it failed. 2 'nissan dont have any issues with that shit' nissan designed it to produce 150rwkw not double that. the GTR was developed by the factory 200 odd rwkw and all upgrades were done at the factory to accomodate the GTR power level. 3whether race track or street no different. a car can be driven on street with as much punishment as on track 4if the engine is built and tuned correctly it will need no RUN IN maybe if it was a t model ford engine it will need run in. 5how can there be 'abuse during run in' the thing should be built properly , tuned properly then driven how it was built for . built for 8000rpmall the time ABUSE??? 6 we can tell what caused it by looking at one bearing cap as that is what we do , build an engine , develop it ,look at internal parts , address the problems. then offer the customer a developed package ,no guess work or learning with their money.... 7 the picture is good enough quality and if one cap is like that all will be. needing. oil drain rear of head, 1.2 mm oil restrictors, hi vol sump, 2.5 litre catch can with drain back to sump, max oil pressure of 70 psi @8000rpm,redline 50w race oil THAT WILL FIX IT with correct bearing clearance, following up with knowledgable tuner . the jun pump is designed for an rb26 way too much oil pressure on others needs to have oil pressure relief valve modded to reduce pressure. as the relief valve is in the sump you need to get it right on the build. this is why we like to use the tomeii pump with external reg.
  4. definately oil starvation guys. normal thing that happens is the top end fills with oil cant get back to the sump quick enough. do you have restrictors? do you have a drain from rear of head or a catch can with a drain back to the sump? check oil pump is not broken? what type of oil used? oil cooler?
  5. thanks for pulling me up on that guys. its taken me 2 years to do that site all myself, at the beginning had no computer skills. tryin to run the site, ebay store and workshop by myself is my excuse for a few mis haps. cheers...........
  6. basically heat related, the shells are actually made to sqeeze into the tunnel from new . this is called the bearing crush. the shells have lost their crush from a few reasons, 1. detonation 2 lack of oil or starvation 3 clearance problem ,, caused from assembly ,machining etc etc. if you post up a pic of the bearing surface i can tell you which is the cause..
  7. the guy states ''more boost '' more knock'' obviously the ignition map is wrong , even if the a/f ratios are nice the thing can still knock. the knocking is detonation. causes of detonation too much ignition timing and or compression or too lean. shit man i learnt that at trade school.!!!!!!!!!1
  8. off the topic but to answer youre comment, yes i do read the thread before posting. the guys asking people to comment on his tuning issues. i have offered advice as he obviously doesnt have confidence in his tuner otherwise his tuner would have found the problem.!!!! at least i offered my opinions alot more than you have done for him. give me a call if you need to discuss any further would be pleased to debate it with you 0883916125.
  9. yes all the 25 head have identical intake patterns and ex patterns. yes the neo manifolds will fit same.
  10. the vct gear is adjustable we use that as a tuning aid on a lot of our builds. the washers will leave a witness mark were they have been from the factory, i suggest to set them back there and set the timing belt up as standard. advancing the gear on its slots will give less cam advance and retarding will give more cam advance.
  11. welcome to the world of the 2.5 litre turbo charged engine.
  12. the cp,s will run .004 clearance at the pin if the bore measures right on 86mm exactly. get a competant machine shop to measure the bores , hone the bores correctly and the gaps at what youve stated will work fine. a correct hone finish would be my favor over a tad more piston to bore clearance. we have run the cp,s at .006 thou clearance after a few teardowns and you can hear them at that clearance and dont seem to upset the knock sensor.
  13. the bottle should be kept at a constant temp, very hard to do. this will keep the mixture correct. as the bottle gets colder the pressure will decrease and it will go rich. nice to keep bottle 850 900 degrees, in youre climate you will need a heater. also a guage on the bottle to monitor bottle pressure. apurge is nice to get a cool shot at the solenoid, happy times!!!!
  14. not quiet same item but will fitup same. oil ''heater ''hoses slightly different angles no probs fitting.
  15. it is not unusual to see this on 30 cranks . the factory balance hole has gone through the casting. be nice to use another crank just in case the metal comes off in the engine...we have them ready to go collar fitted, micropolished ,cracktested, oil holes tapped and plugged, cleaned to go $699. www.lewisengines.com.au
  16. fit the bolts torque to rec arp tension, measure the tunnel with an inside dial bore guage. if you dont have one a rep shop should measure them and charge zip. sometimes you can pull it off and dont need to close and hone. we always check it that way first, if they are not round in the tunnels from there they will have to be closed and resized. usual cost $30 per rod to resize. basic stuff!!!!!1
  17. even a quarter way up on the knock scale is bad. the only thing you have in youre favor is the engine doesnt make enough power to damage itself with the knock readings you have, standard ignition map totally wrong for that application. suggest check knock sensor wires, replace knock sensors, then alter the ign map to something more acceptable and fourthly change tuners!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  18. definately change tuners!!! if no other tuners nearby i would check fuel pump fuel delivery, fuel pressure reg operation obvious stuff which he should know..............
  19. a multi layer steel gasket will be sweet, copper is inferior now days. we can sell you a steel multi layer MLSR www.lewisengines.com.au
  20. yeh i would be worried about using those , they will work but for how long? risky, i would be taking it up with the seller they obviously know they were chipped unless theyre blind!!
  21. wack up a dyno gragh for us will be able to assess it properly. yes stronger spring sounds like a try in the gate, also gate position??? thanks
  22. the vvt unit need oil supply to it or it will move back and forth as it pleases, you can adjust the screws at the rear of the gear rotate the gear in the direction of rotation and lock them up the vvt cannot move forward then. weld the oil up as well. we have found the vvt to be a good tuning tool when tuning for bottom and mid range. you can run the oil feed line to it externally.
  23. the stock 30 crank is a good piece. great quality steel, use one of our crank collars on it, drill and tap the oil plugs, all clearances to spec the things inmy books would do 700/800 engine horsepower. not an issue. www.lewisengines.com.au
  24. hi i will put cash in ur account instant and can organize freight this end. were are you? the freight company i use is startrack they can only send gate lift trucks to certain areas. give us a call 0883916125. leave message please if no contact will not dick you round regards darren lewis lewis engines adelaide.
  25. hi, how much do you want for them ,,very interested express post international from us should be approx $60aud??? thanks
