  1. Conflicting advice everywhere, people say 3inch is good for up to 400kw. Others say 300kw, I love the Internet. I may just sell of my entire system and get a 3.5 inch system made up just to be safe.

With any question there's going to be conflicting info from those that have heard stuff off mates or just take a guess.

I've done it on my own 32. Over 400rwkw through those size front pipes and an off the shelf xforce cat back which I can tell you now is less than 3.5".

Save your money and spend it somewhere else on the car, those front pipes you're talking about will do the job. Plus if they're Nismo the quality will be awesome like all Nismo parts.

Personally I'd be buying those front pipes wherever youve seen them and then a set of R34GTR (or HKS which come up from time to time) dump pipes with the money saved from not going custom/overkill.

  2. Technically, where aftermarket ECUs can be engineered, the vehicle has to pass a rather expensive emissions test and the ECU has to be locked afterwards. The only time it's really feasible is when you are doing type application for a limited run production of something or other (like the modified 200SXs that some crowd was doing years and years ago, or clubmans, or that sort of thing) where a number of vehicles will all be the same and can amortise the cost.

    Emissions test is free.

    Locking the ECU is free.

Engineering report including all the mods to the car (increased wheel size, change of turbo, larger FMIC etc) will set someone back about $1200 from a certain Sydney workshop.

  3. same over here, follow the regulations, take it to the right people & pay enough money!

    Which state are you in?

Yeah it's fairly simple. Too bad there's so many tightasses buying Skylines thesedays who dont think engineering is money well spent.

An engineering report here for example is generally about the same cost as a Garrett turbo and includes all mods to the car inc emissions and aftermarket ECU's.

  4. Like any part, you only hear about the ones with problems. Never the ones that are working without fault. I'm sure the issues with his are a batch issue, they should be under warranty also.

Anyway, a zeitronix and a quality ECU has the ethanol availability sorted, the days of carrying jerry cans around are gone-which is awesome

  5. i no man, ill work it out one day, got a new exhuast coming and a new intake setup. So ill try that out, and c how it goes. If nothing improves ill just drive it as it is, till Stevo comes up with the goods on the bits and peaces to make her a lil bigger on the bottom end if you no what i mean, than prob throw the -5s in the bin lol

im very interested to c how this turns out but

Lets put it this way; you'll be having a new bottom end quite soon. The engine for testing is waiting on one part before assembly, and that part is being picked up at the end of this week and sent...
