  1. when I put new tyres on the front took it for a hiway run and at 100k I could feel the car surging, looked at the torque meter and it was pulsing up to about 10% same frequency as the surging, went back to town and took notice of the torque, on gentle acceleration big torque was dialing up so drove to the tyre place and got new rears, viola back to normal no surging and only see torque under hard acceleration or wet roads never on cruise. the manual quotes the maximum tyre diameter difference allowed i will look it up i ur interested.
  2. hi got the omori mechanical oil pressure guage, it reads pressure between 2 at hot idle and 7 at cold high rpm but the needle vibrates like its getting small pressure pulses, it vibrates about 1mm at the needle tip at all pressures probly more noticeable when hot. it wasnt hooked up when i got the car and is now connected to a port in the remote oil filter. I had to make the fitting because it was missing, I might be answering my own question here, the fitting i made has no restrictor, i remember the mech guage i had on my old eh had a really small hole in the fitting possibly to stop pulsation from the oil pump Im a bit concerned I read on here that a cracked oil pump gear will cause pulsing oil pressure.
  3. hey snotass It has been done sucessfully by nissan. the r32 gtr N1 had the ABS removed, dont know if you could get your hands on an N1 wiring diagram to work it out. The pump maintains system pressure independant of the ets soleniod the pump runs even when FR torque split is 0/100 when sitting idling the pump cuts in and out briefly.

  6. anyone know if the pump unit has an accumulator because my reservoir hasn't dropped in 12 months [no leaks] but it cycles the pump evry 7 seconds. would happen if the accumulator was nfg
  7. the level is a good place to start but all the level switch does is turn the light on it doesnt cause an ecu error so you wouldnt get heavy steering unless all the fluid suddenly disappeared. The ten minute at 100k is actually 10mins without the ecu recieving the straight ahead signal from the steering angle sensor in the steering column. it only happens on the highway when not any doing sharp turns for over 10 minutes. you may have an aftermarket wheel with the incorrect boss kit or like my car had an early model gtr with a late model gtr wheel with the steering angle locating boss in a different position so the straight ahead position is actually 60 degrees left. keith
  8. hi I complied my gtr last year in nsw used a u shape bolt in bracket at the front so the door was not removed and L shaped bracket at the back with countersunk 5mm stainless screws that are hidden under the door rubber. have to remove the storm mold and the window and window regulator no welding on the car 2x 8mm holes drilled behind the front of the door trim and 2x 5mm holes drilled under the door rubber at the rear. the bars are 25x50 rhs the full length bar can be manouvered in through the top slot of the door after the window has been removed because the end brackets bolt on it took me a week to do both sides including lots of time measuring and checking for glass clearance.
  9. hey to4 are you saying all aftermarket centres use 30 spline side flanges? are they hard to get because they break a lot or is it because ppl do gtr upgrades?
  10. im sure paulr33 was thinking of r33[he has got a huge thread on r33 vspec active lsds] i did a fair bit of searching on diffs in the drivetrain thread but didnt come up with the answer but i did find heaps of misquoted info that i had to sift through, but hey in any forum you have to dig to find gold
  11. thanx again this is all good news Ive scored a late model diff and i can put the best bits on it [finned cover] and sell the leftover drive shafts and stuff, my lsd centre will be okay for some one too if they have a quiet set of gears.
  12. after i fitted 3inch staino dump back zorst to my wifes vlt it resonates the pipe like a bitch on light boost only as you pass through about 2000-2500 rpm, I try not to let it happen if possible because it carnt be good btw it never happens if she is driving cause its always spooled

  14. thanx T04GTR for the info so are the 31 splines on the pinion or the side gears?, the diff has the input flange and output shafts still in it will I need to change any thing to fit the late model diff. keith
  15. I bought an r32 gtr diff , shafts and hubs of a friend who originally pulled em out of a r32 gtr wreck my car is early 89 gtr and has a finned cover, this one doesnt have finns has anyone seen a 32gtr rear diff with no fins?? oh yeah its a white one so im thinking a later model 32

  18. my car came with a single atmo type R that worked just fine good idle no surge, had to plum back for compliance and it does pop on up changes now but still idles good and gets 9.2l/100km on highway, im the same as mr beer baron if it works dont fix it. oh yeah it is loud even tho its plum back
  19. Found it behind the drivers side rear quarter trim you have to take out the rear seat back and base to get to it. Nissan fast shows it in the boot on the driver side rear quarter panel about a metre further back, only took me all day to find it. its an 89 r32 gtr part# 17001-005U0
  20. hi I cant find my fuel pump modulator. the fuel pump relay is in the boot but the shielded wire leading from the pump goes towards the front of the car in the big bunch of wires on the right side of the boot. this wire goes to the modulator on a 32gtr I can see it in the wiring diagram but cant find where its located, any help thanks
  21. at closed or small throttle openings your bov opens when the pressure between the turbo compressor and throttle body is higher than the plenum pressure after the throttle body where the bov vacuum signal comes from, then at wide open throttle there is no pressure difference so the spring keeps the bov shut. The shuffle your hearing is compressor surge so it means your bov is not opening, It is possible that the vacuum leak is a hole in the bov diaphram which would also prevent it opening causing compressor surge. My gtr stock boost didnt work because the vacuum line was not connected to a little tube at the rear of the throttle bodys just like the one at the front that goes to the fpr vacuum hose . replacing it lowered the idle 300 rpm. It is well hidden You can get compressor surge if the spring preload of the bov is set to high
  22. i think its all down to attitude too, he didnt book me only asked what my daughter was doin with the laptop. in the passenger seat , she was monitoring the 02 guages for me in nissan datascan, we were on the first run after puttin in the r34 stock injectors. If your pleasant with the ociffers they usually treat u pleasantly. hey thay are human too.
  23. yep mine is dual pods on the a pillar he says nuthin allowed higher than the top of the wheel so a single would be ok cause the bottom pod is lower than the top of the wheel. i spose they would look for something else to ping. two stage boost controller maybe.
  24. hi Stopped at a RBT today the ociffer says oi you carnt have anything mounted above the top of the steering wheel so next time i see you ill give you a infringement and defect for that okay. thanks sir[me] have a nice day[me] ok you can go now[ociffer] Have I got an argument next time or is he right about it, ive seen plenty of taxis with stuff above the wheel or are they exempt from the rules. I have a double pod an the boost guage is sitting prolly 3 inches higher than the top of the wheel. any one done the research? dunno wheather the engineer that passed the car last september just ignored it or new it was okay to have em there.
