  1. light weight pffft...Don't let people consume anything more than oxygen in your car, solved
  2. Phoenix Power brought along 8 cars along. The gold 34 is an M Sepc running a 2.8 Tomei and a T78 making 637 awhp... The 32 has a 2.8 Nismo kit and twin T517Zs...looking at the chart it didn't look like much fun to drive even with the V-Cam. Veilside rear wing wasn't to my taste either. Apparently it's rolling on BBS 19 x 10's with 275 30's...It didn't look that radical, I guess when your looking at 20's and 22's all weekend it loses the effect. Oh well, close but no cigar Another stock (looking) 35...making 753 awhp. Wald R35 GT-R...I like the calligraphy, drips and all. Must have been one big sumi block The suit in the foreground is Hansel...he's so hot right now. It wouldn't work in Oz but these guys were rock stars, at one stage on Sunday there was a line of kids and hotties waiting for pics. Try sending that to the dry cleaner Yes is it was embossed...I touched it lol I wasn't allowed to touch this.
  3. Paul hahahah no sympathy Chris Missed um, by the time I'd finished doing the do it was getting on... oops. Had a speil set and all...grrrr. Ok here we go, I shot a shed load and between being a tourist and have a cold beverage at night iv'ei' been a bit slack. so here is the first of what looks like many instalments. For all you hard core 'Line fans...not much here, I have a few pics here and there but this show was not like TAS at all. There really was a lot of VIP, vans and believe it or not styled hybrids. In fact there were more late model VW's than there were GT-R's. This was more style orientated than Tokyo...maybe thats how it is in Kansai maybe not. The first show pic I posted was of that little Suzuki, I've posted a pic of the company's hoarding as I'm not really sure what the company name is. They had a premo spot at the entrance to one of the 5 halls...there where six but your not getting any pics of the curry or beer we drank. This stand was popular all weekend, four cars with two done up like Christmas trees..."look honey...shiny!". The look was called "grinder" for all of us that have run the edge of a grinding wheel across some metal ...well that's the pattern. These weren't the only cars here with it; I recall a GS300 Lexus and a Van sporting the look in a more restrained style...to be posted You see why I'm not sure...yes the first word is "And" Be nice guys I haven't processed this stuff...I'm a tourist The other two were Odyssey's...the whole weekend all you could hear in that hall was the bags being deflated. These guys really worked their stands, the only shops that came close were D A D and Junction...pics tomorrow vending machine visits not withstanding The paint finish was nice, I've seen a lot of cars over the years with heavy flake that lookl lumpy up close, maybe it's just the technology of the paint these days...but these cars were finished well. From one end of the messe to the other...GT-R magazine, three cars, all class. I have some nice really wide shots of the 32 but they need some work to make desktop worthy...Yes I do own a 32R lol Late model V-Spec Omori refresh S1. Drive in drive out with a restored 32. Sign me up. V-Spec R35, I still prefer the 32 I'm afraid and a lot of the punters thought so too. They would point at the 35, make a few then move over to stand in front of the 32 and discuss...not much different than home. Still, who wouldn't want one as a daily? Okey dokey, the AOM had more flares than a Status Quo concert but it seemed like just when you thought you had seen as much offset and stretch as sensible there came another that pushed the sensible to nonsense....Toyota crown. は、安全ですか? I wonder what the conversation in the shop was like...ok then, we have this incredibly undersized tyre and a can of lighter fluid..who's keen?...Kaito , your up! Pit Road ...home to amongst others a well known big hp GTO...yes it was there but this little monster caught my eye. Time attack spec K 3 cylinders of awsoma powa!...could you imaging working on this thing, small hands...very small hands They wont believe this at school Yup, 220 ps , that's some serious fun. If it don't fit...just build out, I'm guessing K Car Special Meeting scrutineering is pretty casual, dimension wise That's it for now, off to Hiroshima for a couple of days, then Tokyo. Thanks for reading and the comments. I'll try and post some more pics tomorrow night. Keets Sorry about the width guys...just realised after the post ...too late.
  4. PM recieved.
  5. Chris hahaha...i'm coming back for a few pick ups tomorrow morning...see you in the audio hall Paul Good to catch up with you mate
  6. Will do. Bald gaijin with a Nikon
  7. PM sent..plenty of wagons to see Paul. Too beat to post photos tonight...took 400+, there should be a good one in it somewhere. Probably go back tomorrow and concentrate on a few cars and tweak my camera. Friday is definitely the go, I thought it was going to be a media day only kinda deal like TAS, but it was public as advertised. Not many peeps early but by 11:30 it was getting busy. A much more casual show, less horsepower more VIP...Junction Produce were doing a roaring trade...need a diamante encrusted fake padlock to keep your tic-tacs in or leopard skin ice bucket...they've got ya covered. Plenty of vans and K's, a few hot rod inspired K's that were cool and a bozzuko that drew alot of grins and a few nods from some older cats. Tommy K R35 and a shot at GT5 and Forza A couple of trends in paint, lots of Infinities ect, vans with white walls yeah!!!, quite afew hybrid hotties...if there is such a thing, 6 pot Project Mu's on a Prius lol. BBS Champions are quite popular...thought it was the Garage Saurus Sudo-R...not I'll tweak and post the best stuff tomorrow
  8. Well I made it in one piece lol , pfft who am I kidding, cheap business class ticket and some research got me to the hotel reasonably well rested and way before the prescribed check in time. Oh, before I go any further...when you land in Japan get a Suica card in Tokyo or in Osaka’s case a Icoca card....lower the stress level But I digress; I’m staying a hotel next to Dotonbori Bridge...plenty to see, plenty to eat and within 50m of a subway entrance (Namba Station). I must be in the right place as during my first foray into the world sans backpack I was propositioned by two hookers but I was a bit tired and they were a bit ordinary. Don’t get me wrong this isn’t Kabukicho...there were plenty of Japanese tourists wandering around, some more lost than me thanks to my trusty gps and my ability to find joy in being totally lost. Most of them thought this guy was important. The Glico man...he's been running since 1935 powered by caramel with enough calories in a serving to run 300m, hence the image. I must get some of that, i’ve walked my ass off and the endless supply of raman and vending machine beer aint cutting it. Osaka, arrrrr... land of contrasts. It's so much more than oversize novelty heads... odd company names... and succession of fibreglass crabs. Its also about food mmm m mmm, for instance this tasty delicacy of the region, takoyaki, little bits of octopus dropped into batter with a few other minor ingredients, topped with dried bonito flakes and bbq sauce. On a reflective note, I don’t understand why these trick cyclists that are periodically advertised on tv are always Chinese...Osaka unlike Tokyo is mad for the bike. They’re everywhere, you think steering a big hp GT-R takes some skill forget it, I was almost knocked over by a chick riding a bike in high heels, with a umbrella mounted to the bars, talking on a phone, in the rain...now she has skill (but insufficient negative camber). Yeah yeah meaningless without a pic...but i was digging the short skirt lol Anywho I leave you with a car pic... a 600 4 door with plenty lip mutilation but no sense..think it got towed Well thats it for today, I hear theres some kinda car show on nearby so I might take that in and post a few pics.
  9. Candy eh mmm. I know Osaka has a great rep for food and drink but I didnt think of candy. The aquarium can go on the list too...*remember to take waterproof poncho* BB lol that could be anywhere...i'll have to track it down. I bought a GPS and a Jp map set...I'll not it as a point of interest
  10. Cheers guys...it's all going on the list
  11. Hey all Well I missed the Nismo Festival, damn work, but I've handled that nonsense this time and I leave tomorrow. So Wednesday is a day of orientation in Osaka enjoying the food and getting used to the subway. Having done TAS in 09 I'm not expecting too much trouble...famous last words lol. I'm thinking of Hiroshima for 2 days, then Kyoto then Tokyo for the weekend then back to Osaka for the flight home. Any tips or "must sees" are welcome. I'm staying in a hotel on Midosuji avenue 300m from Namba station. If anyone is keen for a drink or a meet PM me. Keets
  12. Jebus...what an asshole. Forget it and move on
  13. Welcome to WA Rob I would say that we are at the begining of the next boom. I work for a engineering firm and we are hiring management types like a mad thing. there alot of studies happening at the moment plus the Gorgon deal. I bet that in 18 months we'll be where we were 2 years ago with all the manpower, procurement lead times, wages growth issues and off course rising house prices. As for driving the 'line, we (the plods) are pretty lenient in comparison to the east coast. There is a time and a place for everything, be cool and keep a low profile. If your young and acting the fool..or in the wrong place at the wrong time, you could get defected for a dirty windshield; the majority of the police here arent terribley knwoledgable in regard to whats what so you could get a book full. As long as the pod is anchored correctly you should be ok. Join SAUWA, we have regularish driver training days that are a lot of fun. Perth really hasnt caught up with this whole sex in the city, apartment nonsense. Buy a house in a decent suburb that has a proper garage.
  14. I'm going to be away for this one mate, I really enjoyed the last session. GL with this
  15. Good to put a face to a name Mark. Excellent trip, thanks
  16. If your only doing track work a couple time a year I would go with a bolt in, pretty cheap and they come up from time to time in the FS forum. Having said that I'm not sold on bolt ins as a way of increasing rigidity. Police interest. The problem lies in a full cage that A) Restricts accessthrough the doors and B) Obscures vision and enters the ADR mandated box that must be free from obstruction incase you bash your scone. In the end I leave my seats in and bolt in a straight back for the day. I can count on the fingers of one hand the time I've had people in the back seat, they just add weight and weight and annoying comments ablout the music and my driving abilities are the enemy...that and I have no friends anyway. If you wan to drop weight, run minimum fuel, get rid of spare tyre and the passenger seat when you track it. The passenger seat in a 32R is 14Kg +spare which is 10? Thats a decent weight saving
  17. So...it's agreed, most people in Perth could'nt drive a greased stick. Set the example
  18. mmmm rotor. I miss my series 2. Nice one
  19. Does anyone remember the lane deviation nonsense on the Kwinana Freeway while the barrier works were happening...well they are doing the same nonsense from Hutton to Karrinyup...I would be avoiding the Freeway North when it starts, between 4:30-5:30pm.
  20. a terrible waste, RIP mate.
  21. I'm going to Osaka for the show, 2 weeks in J all up, I'll be there on the Wednesday before the show. Ill be going to Kyoto and Hiroshima as side trips and 3 or 4 days in Tokyo, probably over the weekdend after the show. I was going to go snow boarding but I've sort of acquired an MX5 that needs some love
  22. Next to it can you get one that reads : "FCUK YOU JIM"
  23. Ho ho ho my friends. The plod has mucho RBT this year. Be safe, booze at home.
  24. The confusion over the recording of a conversation is due to the differing laws concerning it. If you wish to record someone on a telephone you must inform them. Live in person conversations need no permission. Reasonable suspicion is what ever the officer can come up with at the time. So it will be "I suspect there are weapon/drugs secreted in your vehicle" there's your suspicion. If you want to fight it, it will cost money down the road and you possibly end up on the person of interest list. I wouldn't bother unless they disassemble the car on the road side. Then it would get fun.
  25. Congrats Karl, seeing as were telling you how to spend you hard earned heres my recommendation. The first thing you should do with it is put an oil cooler on it and some decent oil...Redline is my choice, then go through the suspension looking for worn out gear. Then do... Apexi pods or if your worried about a defect go with an ARC airbox with a quality panel filter, they come up second hand a fair bit on SAU Exhaust, front pipe and dumps, PFC, timer and controller Cam gears. Dont worry about the intercooler until you go with bigger turbos Then buy a beater/daily driver.
