Hi all, I have been having power steering problems (comes and goes at will!) that relates to my HICAS somehow for sometime now. Was wondering if anyone has a spare HICAS computer i can borrow for a day to test so I can start my process of elimination. Or alternatively any suggestions would be great. No, I dont have an aftermarket steering wheel. I have a R33 gtst series 1. Cheers, Andrw

Hi Guys, just wondering how i go about a compression test on a r33 gtst. I have the tool but need to know what the compression on each cylinder is and if there are any tricks in regards to getting the reading. THanks people.

is the hicas computer the part that has all the fuses in it or the box next to it? scuse the ignorance.

going to have to resurect this thread guys. The problem I was having with losing the steering disapeared not long after posting the previous post. THe problem has now come back. Basically when the hicas light comes on I lose power steering but it can come on and off at its own will which is quite dangerous when turning corners obviously. Can someone please help with this. I have tried a hundred and one times to get into diagnostic mode and just cant seem to do it. cheers

If you have another hard drive already installed you must set it to slave. Or make sure you have your bios set up correctly

They are totally legal in WA. However, if they really want to ping you for something they will get you for obstruction of vision. I have been warned on this so now when i get pulled over I quickly remove it for peace of mind. Also, I feel it gives the cops and extra reason to try and get you for something else seeing as it gives them the notion that "this guy must speed alot and thats why hes got a radar detector etc etc. Word of advice: try not to drop the detectors. Mine still works ( as in beeps etc) but i have lost the visual side of things.

I had this problem. It lasted for about 1 month and then fixed itself. For the life of me I could not get the bloody car into diagnotic mode. Has been fine for the last 3 months or so now. I know this doesnt help you at all but there are other threads on this topic.

Just had a mate chage mine. No small job. Glad i didnt tackle it myself.

Does this mean i need another bleed valve or is this common to leak from valve

roughly what are the catch cans worth and are they hard to fit

Hi Peoples, I have noticed my bleed valve leaking a bit of oil recently. It is not a huge amount but enogh to be noticed. Is this something I should attend to immediatley. Is this something that happens often? Does it mean something is stuffed. Car has been missing a bit when it first hits boost but I thought this was caused by putting 1.1mm spark plugs rather than .8mm gap. (changed oil and plugs recently but my mate got the wrong ones and I thought phuk it and still whacked them in). Just mentioned this in case it has anything to do with it. Cheers

Gday all. Lately I have been losing my power steering. Sometimes the car will start with the power steering working and then it will conk out (power steering stops working while drviving)..I can still drive like this but Im sure its not good for the car drving without power steering. Other times it wont work as soon as I start the car. THis has been happening since the HICAS light has been appearing now and then on the dash. So far I have checked the obvious things. Power steering fluid, HICAS connections underneath car and the HICAS fuse. My car is an R33 gtst. Anyone got any ideas? cheers

also, where can i get an adapter for the antenna. ie the two prong jap aerial to the normal aerial? Already looked down at Supercheap and they didnt have any (morley one)

Hi Guys, recently my HICAS light on my dash has been lit up. Have checked the fuse in the boot and that seems to be fine. Has anyone got any idea of what might be causing this. Should mention that i just had a stereo installed in case this is related

Hi all. Would anyone be willing to help me with my SAFC. Just want someone to have a quick look and see why the knock sensor isnt working. Have tried both sensors and still doesnt work. Can come to you or otherwise I live in the Mt Lawley area. Willing to supply beverages (you choice of alc or non alc) and some cash or whatever other reasonable requests might be. My boost jumps to around 13psi then constantly tapers off to about 7psi by the time I get to 6500rpm. Obviously I have a bleed valve but was wondering if there is something I can do to maybe make it sit on 11psi after the initial spike. I have already placed the valve in the airbox but this didnt fix the problem. Suggestions? cheers

Drifta yes I am using bp ultimate. Around how much are the bendix ultimate? The brake pads I have on the car have lasted me almost a year and they were on the car when it came across. Is it possible to get just the ordinary pads from somewhere?

yeh thats what the sound was like. I had been driving reasonably hard for a while in the heat. Guess it twas just the hot weather. The car was normal again this morning. THis might sound stupid but detonation is knocking right? Good place for purchasing brake pads for R33?
