  1. diffsonline.com recommend going no faster than 85 kph for 1200 miles ! That's going to be one boring drive.
  2. Apparently upon bedding in a new mechanical diff you can either do figure 8's for 20 minutes or Have the diff specialist coat the disassembled plates with friction modifyer, then just drive off. Still recommend changing oil after bed in. What's the best way to go ? Cheers
  3. I think you have to find yourself and empty carpark or warehouse and drive figure of 8's slowly for about 20 minutes. Then change the oil straight away.
  4. You won't beleive the difference once it goes on. The standard spring was SO soft my actuator started to leak pressure around 7 psi. Boost was so gradual, when I first got my car back I had the shits. Now it hits the way it should...
  5. The large can provides better response and tunability . Get it from ATP fo $59 US. Ask for shipping costs. I couldn't get more than 16 psi on the standard actuator - 18 briefly then dropped. Now we can get it to flat line on 24 psi ! But my 570 injectors are maxed so I'm running 22. It's advertised as an 18 psi actuator be we can turn it down to 15. Spool up is heaps quicker and 500 rpm sooner.
  6. I did mine in red and it comes on with the brake lights. I've had cops behind me several times and so far so good. Quite simple to do. I did pretty much the same as JamesK. I cut the plastic away with a 4 inch angle grinder. I used clear contact paper. Sanded it. Covered it with the contact. Trimmed around the letters with a craft knife. Sprayed it with primer + black top coats. Removed remaining contact off the letters. Fitted a 300 mm led strip with double sided tape hard on to the back. Looped an active/neutral off the brake light. Blue looks awesome on the white car ! Nice work.
  7. The kit is $1589 inc postage. Don't know the weight. How much is Duty anyway ? For another $16, Nengun offer to repack the items into several unmarked boxes so no one knows what's inside for security reasons. They're happy to label it as per my instructions for customs. I could then stipulate the value of each box separately. Anyone else done this ? Cheers.
  8. I'm looking at getting a Nismo Diff kit sent over. A better unit and cheaper than most others over here. Will I get slammed with Duty Tax when it goes through customs ? Or can I get it labelled specifically to avoid this ? Cheers.
  9. I've been pondering for some time now over a used Nismo 1.5 way unit and it's not cheap. Also come across two people today that have broken them. They aren't entirely billet steel construction like Cusco or Kaaz according to Advan. Additionally they cost $600 or so more. As everyone says the Nismo is the least clunky/noisy but what are it's limits ? My scenario : 337 rwkw, say 4 tracks days per year, street driven once per week. What do you reckon ?
  10. Yeah I have seen them a few times now, always at the track. They certainly DO look better for real than they do in pics. But I still don't like the standard front. Looks beautiful from the side, I really like the small windows on the doors and the nice coupe slant on the rear pillars. And from behind it looks pretty fat and fast. Just the front for me is missing something. It needs are far more aggressive looking spoiler. The V-spec has more air inlets and looks a bit better. Performance wise, I don't doubt in the slightest it's remarkable to drive.
  11. Are you sure ? Nengun price them both the same. The TT is no more then the GT. The only difference is the cam angle.
  12. I now realise mechanical diffs cop heaps of wear and probably won't last 30,000 kms. I've been offered a salvaged one from an S15 half cut from Japan for $1000. It's not a TT. If I get it and give it to Award, will it be as new after they service it or do I have the risk of it only lasting a few months regardless. I can get a new TT for $1850. Please advise. Cheers.
  13. I'm in the same frame of mind. Buying a brand spanker is only justified if (a) - you're rollin in it or (b) you can claim the dep in tax. The standard R35 for me at first glance was disappointing, especially from the front. But the more I look at it the more I like it. It's more elegant than the previous models that's for sure. However I'm more swayed by the rugged look of the R33 and R34. Check out this puppy. What I'd never see myself doing is buying a new one for $150k, then spending another $12k on having it's heart pulled out , installing a new ECU and exhaust. Then off to the bank again to spend another $6k on body styling. Then when I'm bored with 520 bhp on a car that's capable of double that, off to the bank again to spend another $10-15k on further engine mods, possibly forged components. If I'm gonna spend $150k on a car it would have to look the part and go like a 15 yr old boy havin his first root. Wait 2 years for the surge in tuning costs to settle, buy one for $70k probably already tweaked and trimmed.
  14. I've never seen a chick behind the wheel of an R32, R34 or R35 ever. Only the R33 and heaps of them, especially the GTS-T. Don't tell me it's price related, you'll spoil it for me.
  15. I bought the sports road kit, sway bars, and springs with the Bilstein shocks. Awesome tight feel and comfortable ride. But I think they've stopped making these springs. 25% stiffer than stock.
  16. I'm just about to purchase a used Nismo Pro GT 1.5 way salavaged from a wrecked S15 from Japan. It's not a TT. I've just read on the Silvia forums that in general mechanical diffs only last 2-3 years on the street ! Crap, I hope this isn't the case. My car only get driven once a week, and say 4 track days a year. Any thoughts ?
  17. That's exactly what Jeremy Clarkson said, but I tend to disagree. The R8 is a very sexy looking car, turns way more heads than the R35. I was in an R8 V8 the other day as a passenger, never hurt the back of my head on a leather seat before. I tell you what, the instant power of the N/A V8 just belts on. Anyway here's my 2 cents. If you're single and prefer young women, they like the R33 the best.
  18. Yeah mate, Go black wheel nuts. White Kai's look awesome. But it sounds like you need to get more sex !
  19. No mate, I don't want the S15 ratio. I'll be overtaking the Veyron. Simple swap over from housing to housing. Spoke to Award today, they mentioned my shafts MAY not fit due to possibility of incompatible length. And they won't know until they open it up. So it sounds like you're right. Cheers.
  20. Yeh mate, and then there's the warranty issue. I want it all done by the one mech so the warranty stands uncomplicated.
  21. The Nismo is still inside an S15 diff housing and looks like it's done very little work. Will I need new short shafts ? I'm simply putting the Nismo centre straight into my GTS-T housing. I was told the Nismo centre is the same for numerous model Nissans. Cheers.
  22. Just as I thought. My mechs estimate 1.5 -2 hrs to remove it, same again to install plus oil, plus freight both ways. That'll be another $500 easy. Beauty, drive in/out is the go. Thanks for that.
  23. Thanks, I'll certainly get a quote in the new year. Anyone know how much roughly it'll cost. Again, I'll be dropping off my car along another diff housing containing the Nismo Pro for swap over. Cheers.
